Good food, but is a little expensive for a quesadilla.

Absolutely the best restaurant in SLC. I always have dinner here when I fly into SLC. Every dish I have had has been amazing. You get a lot of food for your money.
The Local Taco has a few locations, in Kentucky and Nashville. (I think) this is the original location. It's set in a popular bar district near UK's campus, so it is a college hot spot for sure. Even a better reason to come here to catch a Cat's game! First of all, I love how the restaurant is inside an old home. Even though it may look like it doesn't hold much on the outside, that'll change your mind once you walk inside
Does not live up to the hype. High priced average food.
The spicy shrimps tacos are fabulous along with the tater tots! Will be back soon!
Amazing! Who knew tacos could be improved!?!? The Local Taco did and they prove it every time! And the portion size is perfect as well. Brunch, lunch, or dinner.... It's the place to go.
Food was pretty good. Kinda pricey. Margaritas were amazing!
Amazing tacos and great service. Try the southern fried chicken tacos. You just can't go wrong.
Original Zomato Review 4/24/13 - LOCAL TACO TAKES A LOT OF YOUR LOCAL MONEY. A friend and I ate lunch here today--the special, two tacos, one side and a drink. Honestly, I could not get to rating the food because of the price. I think $9-$10 for no more food than was on my plate was ridiculous. How about adding another taco?
I am not really sure what I was paying for today--ambiance? Gold Peak tea (which is horrible)? If you want a taco--go to one of the other authentic taquerias in Lexington--they are better and a $1 cheaper. Overall, -I'd rather eat at Taco Bell and save $4-5 bucks.
Took my 8th graders here after a field trip and was incredibly impressed with the speed at which their food arrived and the options the kids could/wanted to eat. The cashier was super helpful to a bunch of 13-14 year olds and made our experience smashing. One of my students and his parent went back the following week because they enjoyed their dining experience and food so much.
The food is good, but not really Tex Mex. Service is good. Margaritas are really pricey, but good. If you are craving tacos, go somewhere else. If youre looking for something a little different, try this place out.
I've always loved this place! Food is amazing!! If you're in Lexington you have to try it!!!
Although the first time they did give me a completely different set of tacos than what I ordered, it turned out to be a fantastic surprise. Haha. The food is great and the feel is welcoming. My first experience there was educational of their methods and they were open to any request that I had. Fantastic.
Great tasty small tacos - healthy too. Very tasty but a little pricey if not careful - but you can find more affordable options for lunch.
Great location, awesome food and fast service. Great place to go for a drink after work!
Great diversity of tacos. Tuesday are the best because you can get a free taco when you buy 3.
Fast service, friendly.
Honestly, the food is flavorless. 3/4 of the taco is covered in lettuce or whatever other filler topping they decide to use.
I m not abashed to say they are not worth the calories.
I m a taco lover, and these are very close to the bottom of my list.
Delicious food, polite staff- all around a nice place to eat!
Great place to hang out with friends. Great tacos. Not the best parking situation though.
The food was great! Service was great too. It was crowded, but hey, they are obviously popular and doing the right thing. Please keep it that way, because I will be back!
Great tacos made right there. Quick service for lunch.
Good food, but a little expensive for the portions. Seating can quickly get cramped when they're busy.
I don t know how this place has 4.5 stars.. it s a 3 star local...asked for sugar for coffee and they don t have....food is not the best either
Best Tacos ever. They taste so good and really fresh here.
The Local Taco is always fantastic. My favorite is the Korean BBQ, but I've never been disappointed. Their specials are often very good, they had a Maryland crab cake taco one time that I loved.
Tacos are the real deal and they have a great beer selection.
Fantastic food! You definitely want to try out this place if you're in the Lexington area.
Good flavors and the weekend brunch is even better. Portions are small for the price. Very popular place for locals
Very authentic. Friendly and hip. Prices are high but food was good.
This was a delicious lunch stop after a visit to the University of Kentucky. The Spicy Shrimp and Buffalo Chicken Taco's were fantastic! Service was very fast and facility was clean. Highly recommend.
I've been here 3 times. The food is always awesome. I've had the crab cake taco, buffalo, Korean beef, guacamole, mac n cheese. You can't go wrong. Everything is unique and delicious.
I came here a while ago with a group, and I only got the chips and queso and a drink because it's a bit pricey. We had a long wait outside, which would have been worth it if my food was hot when I got it. Instead, the queso was room temperature, and there was absolutely NO spice to it. My friends liked their food, but for me paying around $6 for EXTREMELY mild room temperature queso and a drink was not worth it. I do not foresee myself ever coming back here
Lexington favorite. We drive 30min to have Local Taco for date nights.
I ordered the Fajita Quesadilla (chicken) with Mexican Rice. I was especially pleased with the bell peppers and red onions, which added some unexpected sweetness. The rice was forgettable, but there are lots of other interesting sides to choose. Would recommend: quick service, nice staff, good portions.
Fresh, fast and delicious. Good beers on tap. Highly recommended.
The bus person walk up behind me and took my plate off the table, I was eating on the chips and salsa on the plate, without asking me!!! She collected plates from 6 customers next to me. They had got there after me.
They have a limited menu and the margaritas are ~$7.00. After the bus person's actions I won't be back!!!!!
We were in town to visit UK. Fun spot near campus. Quaint atmosphere and friendly staff. Priced a little high. Prompt service. Yummy tacos, especially spicy shrimp.
Always a solid option for any meal of the day. If it's busy we usually go straight for the bar where there is no line and easy access to a good variety of drinks.
Parking sucks though. Big time.
Wow wow wow. Can't wait to go here again. Food is outstanding, Prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere was great. Must stop by if your passing through Lexington.
The food can be hit or miss: it looks great, but can be very bland. I like the enchiladas, but they're a bit cheese heavy. The tacos are tasty, but very small and aren't impressive.
The tacos are amazing and you can get a glass bottle of Ale8.
We came here for a quick lunch date!! Try the Buffalo Chicken Taco it s delicious! The tacos are smaller but fill you up very easily! The chips and salsa is awesome! We will definitely be back!!!!!
Love the Korean beef tacos and they label if something is gluten-free, which helps me figure out what's safe for me to eat.
Awesome staff, awesome tacos, awesome location. The small colony of miniature horses running loose throughout the building is a bit of a distraction, but once you figure out that the gray one is their leader, a small bribe of a bite of your burrito will ensure that they leave you alone.
The service was very friendly, and the food was great. I really liked the atmosphere, as it was a cool little place, but not overly loud.
Tacos need more flavoring and rice tasted like is was from a box
If I could give it more stars i would the food is amazing
The food was alright but I have definitely had better Mexican cuisine. The prices are very reasonably priced though. The Beerita was good. A concoction of margarita and Dos Equis. Yummmm
The food is good. The service was a little frustrating- long line to order during lunch & dinner hours and they still only had one person taking orders even though there are 2 cash registers.
Great food but minus a star for service. An hour for 6 tacos? Minus a star for over priced margaritas with little to no alcohol in them. Get a beer instead.
The food is incredibly yummy, with creatively made tacos and sides. The chips are thin, crispy, and perfectly salted, which is how I like them. On multiple occasions, my mom has said that the margaritas and sangrias here are "scary-good". It has a fun atmosphere and okay prices. You get what you pay for here. It can be extremely crowded around lunch time, the lines are long and it's sometimes hard to get a seat. Parking is also sometimes an issue. But I can't hold that against Local Taco -- they're awesome!
Came here during a recent trip. Food is very good. I highly recommend the lime chicken tacos!
This review is based on two separate dining experiences at the Local Taco. On my first visit I had the Brisket Tacos. On my second visit I had the Steak Tacos. Both times I was less than impressed. The tacos were bland, tiny, and I left both times spending between $15-$20 yet still feeling hungry. I don't quite understand the draw to this place but their are far better optionsfor tacos nearby for quality, quantity and price.
Meat is generally cold but the flavor pallet is great.
A great all around experience. Order and sit style restaurant. The buffalo chicken minus blue cheese add ranch is my go to. Pair that with a beerita, and you won't be disappointed.
I had been told this was a must visit place. I was not impressed. Not sure I would go there again.
All of the Local Taco originals are really good. It's just a shame you always have to wait in a huge line because they only seem to have one cashier.
The food tastes good, but the price is really high considering the portions
Food is always good. But service lacks majorly. How can you only have one register open during your peak dinner times?
Very delicious food. Love that it's made from exclusively local items. Will definitely return next trip to Lexington!
We love this place and it holds a special place in our hearts because we had our first date here years ago. We order the shrimp tacos and the Korean beef tacos, both are the bomb. The Beeritas are also a must! The wait in line is always long but the food and atmosphere is worth it. We plan on having them cater our rehersal dinner in 2020.
I had 2 different tacos...chicken and beef. The chicken was really good but the beef was awesome with a horseradish sauce YUM!
Great food and atmosphere. The line is usually out the door but it moves fast and the food doesn't take long at all. Parking is a bit tricky but definitely worth it. You won't be disappointed.
The food is awesome! It is flavorful and satisfying! The staff is wonderful! A great day to eat out on the patio. Amazing restaurant, great atmosphere nice music in the background. I wish the tables were bigger other than that 5 stars!!!
Great and fulfilling tacos at decent pricing. Will come back for more, but I kind of hate Lexington... Jk.
The atmosphere is superb, we dined outside on the patio overlooking the street with views of the park across the street. The food was amazing only complaint was the portions are somewhat small... But the overall experience combined with the beautiful spring time night in the mid 60s was exstatic!....
Even though the place was packed, the food was fresh and prompt. My date and I got 5 different tacos and shared, they were all unique and amazing. We'll go again some time in the summer so we can chill on the patio.
HORRIBLE AND RUDE STAFF! Wish i could rate zero stars. My friends were second the order and I was reserving a table told me they could not take any orders until the table was clear. But the person ordering before my friends had someone reserving a table for her, and nothing was said to her. Terrible service during the order taking process
