The staff was friendly and the food was good. My only issue is the small portions in comparison with the prices. For nearly $4 a taco I wish that they were larger than the palm of my hand

great local spot for quick bite and cold drinks. close to UK hospital and right on the campus. they have nice patio seating. their tacos come in all sorts of styles and flavors. not necessarily traditional tacos but still very good!

I have been coming to The Local Taco for years and have always loved it, but today was awful. First of all the glasses we had for our mimosas were dirty so we asked for other cups which were also dirty. My friend and I were not asked to show our ids by the bartender but the manager came over and singled us out asking for our IDs. I showed my ID and then the manager proceeded to go behind the bar and stare at our table making us extremely uncomfortable. We then decided to leave. It was awful as my friends and I were just trying to enjoy time with each other.

This place is very popular. If you want to have lunch, show up early or expect a decent wait. But it is worth the wait. Everything is fresh and has a lot of flavor. Plus the bar has a great selection of drinks!

Over priced and below standard for a taco. Got the 4 taco special, 2 chicken, 2 fish. Fish was deep fried, some time ago, chicken was dry and no flavor. Both tacos, on a soft tortilla (best part of the meal) came with bland tomato, lettuce, and a couple of jalapeno slices, and that was it. For a 12$ meal I would expect quality fresh ingredients, a side of rice or beans, better garnish ( cilantro, onion, cheese, etc) and even throw in some chips and salsa?
Won't be going back to local taco.

Ham hock pinto beans are incredible. The Mexican rice was a bit dry as was the brisket taco, and the tequila lime chicken was decent, but with a little more of variety in the finishing sauces it would have been 5 stars. Definitely best Mexican taco joint in Lexington, but not comparable to the best in Louisville - Taco Luchador!

Stopped in for Taco Week. The special here was Carolina pulled pork w/mustard BBQ sauce and apple, blue cheese and pecan slaw on floor tortillas. Yum. Prolly my favorite from Taco Week. Parking can be a challenge.

Fast, reasonably priced, and tasty! Nothing special though.. just a decent place to grab some tacos whe the craving hits.

I prefer a more traditional taco spot.. I would have liked to see a pastor or carnitas on menu. I would have also liked to see home made sauces on tables. I doubt I'll be back.

I ordered my meal letting the order window know I have a severe gluten allergy (celiac disease) and before you know it, my food was cooked and served to me. I immediately took a bite and it didn't taste like the normal corn tortillas....They gave me flour tortillas instead of CORN. They apologized and gave me the gluten free ones but it was already too late and I was bound to get really sick. Of course, I did. As I was in the bathroom, my sister told the girl at the order desk and she was rude and said "accidents happen". That isn't a very good accident to have when you're messing with DISEASES. Clearly not taking any precautions regarding cross-contamination or even care for a person being gluten free/ having celiac disease. Seems the reason for offering gluten-free seems to be profit over people, so gluten free folks- avoid this place. Ive never had a restaurant disrespect my disease so much.

A quality taco with a fun atmosphere. I ordered a variety of items to get a feel for what i like and i loved the spicy shrimp tacos, the cole slaw was a little too strong and not enough strimp but it was still very tasty. The fish taco was really good too but it was a little dry. The chicken quesadillas were a no go for me, it was too dry but the ratio of cheese to chicken and tortilla was good but it didnt have the right flavor that you would expect compared to their other dishes. It is a little pricey but you really pay for the fun atmosphere and great outdoor setting.

I loved the mexi tater tots. I was not a fan of the brussel sprouts, they were too soft and soggy. The tacos are great! I like the Korean BBQ and Tequila Lime Chicken the most. Atmosphere is super fun, especially on a nice day when the garage doors are up and it's nice out!

This was brought in for a lunch at work and it was DE-licious!!!! The rice is really good with a bit of a traditional / curry type of flavor and not blow your face off spicey hot. The fajita was scrumptious with good balance of chicken, veggies and yummy cheese. The best part of this lunch was positively the salsa that came with it! Yum! Yum! Yum! It wasn't blow your face off, melt your tongue spicey either but instead had the perfect blend of flavor for a traditional salsa. Will definitely be ordering from here again and going to check out the restaurant.

We adore the local taco! It's one of our "safe choices" when we want an awesome lunch or dinner. Don't miss the mexi tots - they are the best thing on the menu! I've tried lots of the tacos, but the shrimp and fish tacos are my all-time faves. I also really enjoy the steak and korean bbq tacos!

10/10 food and atmosphere. It s right on campus so it s often times packed, usually after 7, and almost always during the weekends, but it doesn t bother me. I always recommend the Local taco to people who are from out of state or people who are looking for a great lunch/dinner spot.

We ordered online and we left with our food, assuming it was correct, but we were shortchanged and the order was incorrect. We also had to wait five minutes just to speak to the waitress because she was chatting with another waitress. Unfortunately not impressed with The Local Taco.

I'm a taco person. Tacos are my jam. Honestly this was a 3 star, but I think the fact that it was in Kentucky means it deserves a star boost. I had the vegetarian tacos, and the queso. It was quality stuff as far as I could expect, and I was pleased. But if I found this within a 100 miles of the border I would have been disappointed.

Went on a Sunday for brunch. They have $1mimosas in the menu for happy hour but they couldn t make me any when I ordered. I then choose a coffee. They don t have any sugar, gave me sweetener (hate it). I asked for any dairy free milk like almond or coconut and they don t have any... I m out of town so I can only judge this place as a brunch one... not coming back!

Usually fairly spiced all round. Too much for me but it s good enough for a random visit. I realize it s tacos and spice is part of it. Just more than I d like. And there are far less spice Mexican places. There are always a lot of college students which is usually fine.

Busy, but table service was quick! You can t beat the dinner taco basket -2 tacos and 2 sides for $10! I LOVED the shrimp taco, the bbq and brisket tacos were kind of meh. I paid a bit extra for their queso but it was worth it.

Local Taco is usually pretty good but I ordered a steak quesadilla yesterday and something about it did not sit well. I had to stop for the lovely pink reliever so something in the quesadilla had to be old or spoiled.

This has been such a staple throughout my time in Lexington. The food is great, the service is wonderful, and my friends and I love to meet up here for lunch and dinner. I think everyone in Lexington should give it a try!

Good tacos, good sides, fast service and consistent quality. Parking can be a problem; they have a hand full of spots behind the storefront off Jersey st. which aren't accessable from Limestone without circling the block.

disclaimer- we had a group of 16. When we went in the line was long but I thought that s as a good sign because it would hopefully mean the food was good. When we ordered, they arranged us in groups of 6 and gave all six people 1 single call number to share which shouldn t have been a problem until there wasn t enough seats for our group to sit in the same area. When the food arrived, we had to deliver the food to the rest of the group that s as sitting in a different area because like I said before, we only had one number and you have to have your number to get your food. Even though we were in a group it would have been more efficient to give us individual numbers in my opinion. But that wasn t the worst part. When I got my food it was COLD. Which wasn t too bad by the thing is my meal costed $10 which is kinda expensive for a lunch of that size. I finished my meal with my rice only to find half of it was over cooked and so hard that you couldn t eat it. Overall very dissatisfied especially considering the price.

The food was packed for pick up so that everyone's order was all together in one container. Vegetarian with meat which meat sauces where mixed and someone who cannot eat red chili sauce had to discard most of their enchilada because of this. The mushroom and spinach enchilada was made with some mushed up mushrooms and not sauteed mushrooms and with spinach so, not good anyway. Not worth the money.
