I came here in a whim as an extension of my work trip. This is coolest hotel I ve stayed in! I used to work at a boutique hotel and this one takes the cake. The staff is so nice and accommodating. The room is beautiful and clean with unique style reminiscent of the building that was once a jail in the mid 19th century. Their room service has a great menu, and the food is as good as it sounds. If you re looking for a change from the regular chain hotels and a little something special 100% stay a night or two at The Liberty Hotel.
Side note... the elevators are fast! Servicing more than 10 floors, they ll get you home in a flash.

Went here for a work function. It has a really hip, cool ambiance and a nice open spacious feel to it. Service was good and it was comfortable. Definitely a place to see and be seen in Boston

Terrible hotel, lack of staff and really bad food. This place is what they d call a tourist trap. There was a dj and music blasting in the lobby every afternoon, tours during the day that jammed elevators and made it impossible to get to the rooms in less than 15-20 min. It s supposed to be a luxury hotel but the concierge is non existent and the line to check out was insanely long. I felt like I was at a very bad hotel in Las Vegas. Finally, the restaurants... it s like eating at a theme park but it s inside a luxury hotel. The food is just bad, both the breakfast and the Italian place that we had to eat at..

Was a jail at some point in the past. Historical place. Very trendy, great ambience, very service oriented (e.g., will offer a welcome champagne or juice). Also central to some great shops and restaurants within walking distance on Charles street.

Yappy Hour on Monday & Wednesday are amazing. The band that plays in the hotel lobby is classy and provides just the right amount of ambient music. The drinks are pricey, but this is a luxury hotel in Boston so it's too be expected. I've never stayed here as an overnight guest, but I would (and want to).

Yes it's a nice hotel, but when I checked in I was told there was lobby bar service, not that they planned to open a lounge just outside my room or that I would be kept awake until 2am by loud music. Do not stay here.

Excellent restaurant, creative dishes and great taste. They do not over play the whole jail theme, actually done very tastefully. Would come back to the restaurant. Only downside is $25 valet parking.

The hotel is stunningly gorgeous. Loved our room, particularly the bathroom! Both very spacious. Though we didn't take advantage of all the services offered, we appreciated the wide range available to us, including complimentary bicycles and various daily activities. The only room for improvement we noted was customer service. Our keys were deactivated too early, and we were told, without much apology, that it was because they looked in our room (which had the Do Not Disturb sign hanging on the door) and it looked empty (our belongings were sitting out all over the room). We would have appreciated a slightly more polite response from the employee. With that said, they did solve the problem quickly.

Coming from other similar hotels up the east coast, I can truly say that I've never been to a worse hotel compared to the price I've paid. Overcrowded, overpriced and no where near what you should be able to expect for the price paid. Coming in late night, it was sad to see that turndown service had to be requested in advance.

The hotel is also crowded with non-quest occupying entrances, lobby and areal in general. Also expect a 50$/night parking fee. Stay away.

I didn't stay long (about 15 minutes) but everyone I interacted with during that time was professional and courteous. The valet was excellent and since I was there for such a short period of time they didn't even charge me.

Great hotel in a convenient location. Renovations are sleek and tasteful. Amenities have a nice upscale touch; think champagne at check-in and Molton Brown bath products. Rooms are a bit smaller than anticipated. Beds are large and comfortable (thankfully not too soft). Service is friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed my stay.

I just cannot get my head around this place.

I just cannot get my head around this place.

It is great. A nice hotel. But I'm bewildered. I arrive midafternoon and the room is not ready. I give my contact number and email to the lady at reception and tell her I'll wait at the bar. Several hours pass and staff change. I receive no contact from anyone. I ask if my room is ready yet and the man replies if I want two beds or one. If my room was not ready, why can I now pick how many beds I can have in my room?

Room is pleasant, decent views. One day I get to the room and the fire alarm is going off. Another day around midnight the entire hotel gets an evacuation notice, some people leave, some stay, but no follow up on what happened or even an apology for dragging us out of bed for what was seemingly nothing?

Each day I go to front desk to arrange payment for the stay, and after a long wait with others checking-in, to the welcome drink of bubbly (which was not offered to me), there always seems to be some issue as to why we cannot sort out the payments. Either they wrote down the wrong email address, telephone number or say they will or have contacted but never do.

The staff seem cluelessly professional.

It is advisable to book a table at one of the restaurants otherwise you may end up sitting in the lobby with a menu and will never get served. They say they'll send someone over.. But that someone doesn't exist.

The elevator is entertaining. 2 of 3 work and have fun sliding the card into the slot to press your floor. You need a steady hand and quick reactions. Let me know how it goes.

Pros: great setting, history, decor, tidy staff, nice entertainment. Fantastic overall. It's an experience in itself.
Cons: would've been nice to squeeze a spa/sauna somewhere in there.

Would love to say I'd stay again, but just cannot justify a reason to.

I could continue but I'm only getting triggered..

Sloppy.

Absolutely a spectacular place to stay. The history of the building and location alone make it ideal. The rooms are great. The only caveat is if you stay with a large group, all stay on the same side of the hotel. The elevators don't all get you to the same place. Best lobby I've ever seen in a hotel.

Okay, so the hotel itself is pretty cool and the staff was nice. The rooms were nice and clean and the shampoo was so good that my girlfriend bought some off the internet when we got home. BUT, the problem is they will have DJs come in to the hotel on the weekends, which is great if you want to stay up all night. But if you were planning to go to bed before midnight on Friday or Saturday... forget about it.

Beautiful room, comfortable mattress, and nice toiletries. I really enjoyed the tub as well. The decor is beautiful and the rooms are quite large. I am disappointed at the hefty parking price of sixty dollars -- coming from NYC, I find this quite pricey.

Wow- I really had an amazing experience here. The service was outstanding and the rooms were so clean and well kept. The check in was very personalized- they also offered a glass of champagne on Saturday night as you went up to your room. Great touch! The food and drinks at the restaurants were great. I would highly recommend staying here if you're in the Boston area! I will be coming back.

Loved our stay!! The staff was incredibly nice, the room was glorious and the prices were great! The only things I could complain about was on friday night when we arrived, they must have been having some kind of event downstairs. The music was thumping in our room and it was impossible to try to sleep. The valet is kind of expensive, but worth it. Other than that, our stay was great!

Terrible experience, not only were the hotel rooms not luxurious, they don t care about SPG members and Most Importantly...the lobby club had extremely loud techno music blasting into our room and people screaming till 2am!!

The hotel cares more about making money from the club life than taking care of their guests!

Will not stay again and strongly do not recommend!
