The Albert is a great example of a historic pub that doesn't really care that it's historic and is just getting on with selling beer to people. It's fairly priced, not that many people order food, bar service is always quick, there's a nice beer garden and they don't mind dogs walking through the pub to the garden if you're out walking the dog and fancy a pint on the way home. There's a host of regulars and it has a feeling that if you turned up every day, there's probably several interesting story lines happening between the regulars, bar staff and other Lark Lane characters at any given point. I've ended up having a drunken singalong with strangers in the garden here, I've sat in corners writing with colleagues, I've been for the pub quiz, I've been for beers countless times. A proper local pub replete with everything a local pub should have,

The Albert since it's redecoration, is looking very smart, with a mixture of the traditional & the new. The beer garden has greatly improved too. Unfortunately they no longer serve food. I would also suggest they utilise the space for a B&B, as I was told they did have rooms available at one time..& the building has character too

Drinking there for 50 years, through many re-incarnations, some good, some awful but this is definitely one of the best. Would like more draft but love the range of crazy gins and rums especially rhubarb gin - try it.

Great little Victorian pub and very cosy. The staff where very friendly and the security guard even went out of their way to open the double doors to allow my dad to park his mobility scooter inside where it was safe. The Doombar real ale was just like it should be.

I originally said it would only be a 5 star if they had a pool table... however, having been there several times now, it definitely warrants full marks. Lots of beers on tap, loads of different rooms to sit in and great atmosphere
