The Kapalua Villas Review

Had an amazing lunch at the Pineapple Grill restaurant. Wife had the fish tacos and I had the beet salad with a side of pulled pork mac and cheese. Condo accommodations in the Ridge villas are spacious with an incredible view of the Kapapua Bay and the Northern tip of Moloka'i. Wet will definitely consider coming here again on our next visit.

Booked a gold package on Costco with ocean view. We usually stay at Honoa Kai but wanted to try something different. The room was really really far from the ocean but we did have a view. On night two of seven we came back from dinner to an infestation of cockroaches in our room. My husband killed 8 that we saw in the kitchen. All opened food was ruined and we wasted about $70 on thrown away groceries that wee didn't trust a bug did not get into. The villa moved us to one of the only available other rooms, which was dirty with broken fans, dated and not what we paid for facing the golf course. I slept with the lights on to avoid seeing any more cockroaches and my kids were super scared. I've got my fingers crossed that no cockroaches got into our suitcases. We are being moved again today but with three repacking efforts this definitely ruined our relaxing vacation. The staff was nice but i feel we should have gotten at least two complimentary nights with this hassle. I'd never stay here again.

We stayed in the golf villas in a beautiful vacation rental. Wonderful views, luxury condos, grounds and buildings all well maintained. It's not super close walking to beach, but you can see the ocean in the distance over looking the golf course. Can I live here?!

We stayed for 4 days while vacationing November 2012. Excellent Service, friendly staff, and safe community. We were able to settle in quickly and relax. No problems.

Stayed here for our honeymoon. Beautiful and convenient location. Walking distance to the kapalua beach which is a great place to snorkle - we saw 3 sea turtles there! Lots of great restaurants nearby, definitely try out Sansei. Also close to Ironwood for some horseback riding. Took off a star as daily cleaning not provided, need to go to front desk to get supplies yourself, Montage spa/pool and Ritz spa/pool no longer shared and available for guests. Charged mandatory resort fee on top of daily rate for "preferred rates" but need to pay additional for these activities. Cleanliness and upgrades can definitely be improved.

The Kapalua Villas are awesome! Rooms are in great condition, very clean and in a wonderful location. The local beaches have some of the best snorkeling in Maui! We would enjoy coming back again and again!

Beautiful quiet property that has everything you need. Wish we had got to stay longer to make the cleaning fee worth it. Now we know for next time.

Upon first appearance Kapalua is a beautiful resort. But three days into a 10 day Hawaiian vacation my toes was severely cut by a protruding screw head the master bath shower in the very expensive villa I rented.
To make thing worse, as I dressed the wound prior to having a stitch put in, the ants in the master bath were crawling on me. It was revolting!!!!!
I will never return to what I thought was a five star resort.
The management did credit my stay but made no effort to pay my medical bills thus far. I am deeply concerned that, because of this filthy villa, I may loose my toe.
Go elsewhere, do not stay at Kapalua resort.

OMG avoid this place

Brought the family here for Christmas. Very expensive and upscale property. I m still here but we are going to leave. So far:

-Rude staff are more common than nice ones (approx 2:1 so far)
-Flooded our unit due to air conditioner failure
-Tv didnt work for most of stay
-No credits, apologies, managers - nothing. They absolutely could not care less about visitor satisfaction.
-They literally made me feel like it was my fault that their suff didnt work and had a tendency to flood
-Beach is rocky
-I feel I know whoever is above us because I can hear their every move. They appear to be nocturnal.

I would never come here again and I am doing my duty to warn you. There are so many other places that are far better kept and have hospitality trained staff.

The rooms we have is very spacious. They give you the Wi-Fi password to the room your staying at and they have an extra Ethernet cable if you need to plug in your laptop. Great receptionist and very friendly. The customer service desk is a drive away from all the hotel rooms and there's a full bar located inside. Overall experience is great, but I'm here for work and I'm only using the room to sleep. Can't experience all the amenities.

I'm here for my sisters wedding and the place is absolutely beautiful. I love it here and wish I could stay longer.

Perfect. Feels like we were rich and important. Plus, there is a little bay to snorkel and swim with sea turtles ! LOVE IT !

Great place to stay away from the crowds. Beautiful views , accommodations, and amenities.

The property itself is a beautiful one. It is on the northeastern part of the island which makes it rather secluded. The property is well maintained.
However, the rooms are outdated and in need of significant improvements. As seen in the pictures, there are tiles that are cracked, paint that is crusting and cabinets that need to be repaired.
The LCD TV was placed crooked in a smaller TV stand, meant for the old picture tube TVs.

Due to COVID, there was absolutely no service in the room, which is understandable. However, if the service was desired, there was an extra charge for it---> this is a little fishy, since hotel rooms generally come with free service at least once. One would imagine that for $575 per night, there could be arrangements for a room clean up service at least once every few days.

We paid over $300 a night and ended up bringing in the lounge chair from the patio to sleep on because the mattresses are so bad. They did not give us enough towels for our use and told us they would charge extra for restocking. 4 towels for a family of 4 for 8 days! I will never stay here again.

Many pros to staying at this place: very close to the beach (a minute to the nearest walking trail), quiet/private, staff is very quick to respond to any needs. Several restaurants nearby as well! Overall good vacation spot!

When I came to Honolulu, I found out how relaxed and relaxed this place is compared to Waikiki. If you want a quiet vacation, there is no better place than here. It is a little far to walk, but there are three beaches that can be played leisurely within 3 to 7 minutes by car from the hostel. However, parking spaces are narrow, so parking is a good idea. There is an additional fee for the resort and you will receive $ 130 cleaning fee regardless of the length of stay. Of course, taxes are attached separately. Golf courses and spas are also charged. Swimming pools and tennis courts are free to use. It cost almost 1,500 dollars including all expenses on the 6th and 5th nights, and it seems to be expensive, but it is worth it. In the worst experience, on the fourth day, a cockroach slightly bigger than the thumb came out to the hostel and saw the dead cockroach dead under the bed. It was a little shock but it was a little shock. It seems all right except this one.

Amazing resort, I could not have asked for a better stay in Maui! The cove-like beach was amazing and we even watched a sea turtle swim up to the shore before going back out to sea!

Our villa had expansive ocean views, it was honestly one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. The villa was very luxurious and the kitchen was well appointed with everything you needed to prepare a meal. The resort is pretty far from the main airport but it was definitely worth the drive. They have restaurants at the resort but most were extremely expensive so we prepared lunch and dinner at our villa often.

The spa/fitness center was state of the art. My jaw actually dropped when we were given the tour of the locker room and pool. I have been to Las Vegas before so I have seen some great pools but the pool at the fitness center was one of a kind; an infinity pool that gave a gorgeous view of the crytal clear ocean in the distance.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed this resort and hope to return in the future.

Had a great stay with great customer service but I left something in our room. We called immediately when we noticed and were promised it was being looked into by housekeeping. Had to call back after the new guests checked out so they could check the room, again was promised it was being looked into but never got a call back. After a great stay, I am shocked at the customer service I am receiving. Will not be staying here on our next trip to Maui & can't imagine if it has been something even more valuable left in the room

We spent our honeymoon here.Just gorgeous. The food was very good too.My wife wanted to bring the bed home with us.

Spacious, friendly staff, great place to stay! Way better than a hotel room. We had two levels with a balcony on each, 1.5 baths, full kitchen with all utensils. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely love this place! We got this vacation deal through Costco..It absolutely gorgeous..the place is awesome..Ask to stay in 2224 over looks the ocean..absolutely break taking.

I'll start by saying, I booked this through hotwire. they charged my card immediately when I booked and noted that I would be charged an additional $90 at check-in for resort fees. when I got to the front desk to check in, she immediately gave me an invoice for an additional $419! she said it was cleaning charges. I let her know that I was not aware and that I was only told about the $90 fee. she said there was no way that they would be willing to "absorb" that cost. She was super unapologetic and offered not solution.
I am a local on Maui, and had my two kids in the car. I told her I couldn't pay another $400+ on top of the HUGE amount I had already paid for the rooms. now, two nights at a condo was going to be well over $1000?! again, very unempathetic and just acted like she didn't care. luckily, I was able to get a refund and drive away, but what if I was a tourist who was checking in and had no other place lined up? I just wanted to make people aware before they book, come out here and are unexpectedly hit with a huge fee. we ended up driving to the Napili Kai, and it was, hands down, one of the best places I've stayed! please do your research so you aren t surprised when you arrive!

I stayed in unit 2621 and loved the view as well as the quiet nature of the patio.

Great experience. Stayed for 5 nights with kids. Excellent views, private gated condominiums with beach views and access. We had a giant asparagus in front of our condominium.

We stayed at the golf villas and you can see all of the bay course from here. Showers are great for taller people I'm 5'9" and have to extend my arms to reach the shower head. Ocean view, full kitchen, 2 BBQ by the pool only assemble to golf villa guests. Shuttle service around the resort. Big comfy bed. Haven't heard our neighbors yet.

Beautiful resort. Spectacular golf course with amazing view of the ocean. We loved that the unit has a kitchen and ample space to relax. The community pool is nice but the bbq grill is essential. Fantastic location with amazing snorkeling and boogie boarding nearby. Excellent hiking/walking trails nearby that are paved and a beautiful area to go running along the beach

I have come back to this resort every year for the past forty years and it is still the most beautiful place on Earth!

The villas were very nice from what we experienced. They're a bit of a walk to get to the beach but they have amazing views and are close to the golf course that you can't complain too much. We plan on staying here during our next trip.

Lovely ocean view condo with equipped kitchen. A little on the older side as far as appliances and furniture but if you're spending too much time in your room you are Hawaii'ing wrong.

Stayed here for a weekend of golf. Very convenient if you got the golf package to play in the Plantation course and Bay course. They provide shuttle service to take you to the clubhouse and other places within the resort.

Spectacular views, great lodgings and awrsome beaches.

There was literally nothing good about this place. They had our reservation wrong when we got here (3 am our local time so we were exhausted) they kept us there trying to get a new one. Then we pay a 500 dollar cleaning and resort fee before we even get to our room. We got lost because you cant see at night and they give terrible directions. We finally make it to our room that we paid this outrageous cleaning fee for and it was crawling with ants and the view was not as advertised. Oh and the AC isn't working!
Update: Upon getting our travel agency to agree to change our hotel, instead of refunding us the 500 dollar cleaning fee, they double charged our card, leaving us out $1000 for almost two weeks. Avoid this place at all costs.

This is a condominium type villa.
We share by four people and stay.

I stayed at my room.

The view was outstanding! ! !

It seems like you can't stay in a villa without a car.
Car rental and everyone Waiwai, family and stay in
I thought it was a recommended place.

Very nice accomodations...quiet...not crowded feelings of a hotel, right on the beach ...would DEFINITELY stay here again.

Nice little complex to fairly close to some of the island attractions. Well done condos with nice island decor. About a 15 minute walk to the beach!

We loved this quiet golf resort. Our unit (18t3) was privately owned but 100% renovated. The views were amazing and we can t wait to return.

I did not stay at the Kapalua Villas, but the entrance to the Cliff House diving spot is inside the villa area. Everything is very clean, the parking is adequate, and Cliff House is prime for snorkeling and mellow swimming, as well as minor cliff jumping, if you're up to it.

Spacious facility, extremely well maintained. Only the final cleaning costs are to be criticized. Absolutely snorkeling on the beach of the area. ... immediately saw 4 giant tortoises. The shuttle service is recommended for the extensive area. Golfers who play golf at an elevated level have an additional plus. Absolutely recommendable.

Great place to stay, quiet, close to the beach and hiking. Great restaurants near-by.

Very low water pressure (weak toilets and showers) and bugs in the light fixtures

When I went up there i didn't had money to buy a breakfast i just had $4 on my pocket so what i is i bought a cliff bar snicker bar and banana i was on the budget. So I went up there to go see these trails of xterra trail running. And i got detour towards the back side of ritz carlton resort i did took pictures to my Google Street view 360 and I also took the kapalua golf course and it started raining luckily my bag was water proof so that all my things will not get wet. Yeah it was fun when it comes to raining.

ROACHES.... I checked in on Sunday May 2nd and had zero issues until 2 days later when the sink started leaking and roaches started to appear. Prior to the roaches I extended my stay until Saturday and now I wish I hadn't or at least stayed at a different resort. I asked to be moved into a different unit and instead of calling me back after they checked up on it I reached out to them. Also, my mom waited until someone came back at 1:30pm to spray for the roaches because they said we needed to be out of the unit but no one did even though they reported they sprayed inside and outside. For as much as this place is charging, I would expect it to at least be clean. Now I'm stuck in a roach infested unit with no where to go until I fly back home. Unbelievable.....DO NOT STAY HERE!

Great place to stay if you are self sufficient. We enjoyed not being bothered by anyone cleaning the rooms and we didn't run out of anything either. The villa was fully stocked with towels, silverware, dishes, etc. Several nearby beaches made it perfect for just wanting to put your feet in the sand or driving a couple minutes to awesome snorkeling.

We had an amazing time staying in the Villas. Great location away from all the crowds. Accommodations were great and everyone had plenty of room. We especially loved having a kitchen. We were a large group, so eating out is quite expensive. We really liked the villas. We would stay here again.

Lavish villas, plenty full space, connected to all types of activities. But you should on upper notch of wealthy.

Is very nice place very friendly people very romantic.
Need lots of upgrades all villas but, if they do the upgrades will cost more many will bring villas to level of 5 stars.

Amazing place! The views, the location, the kitchen and the living room. The patio is a big plus. The big master bedroom and master bathroom are amazing! Can't wait to come back!
