Great zoo, lots of animals and chances for interactions if you time it right. There are shows or talks pretty much hourly and monthly/weekly exhibits/shows themes. They also have a mini train, a tram system, boat rides, and a ski lift to look over the animals. Rides vary in price- we have a family pass for the year that includes all rides for a pretty good price so I'm not sure of individual. Their website is super easy to navigate and has all that info.

Social distancing in effect. Be sure to check online for tickets with a specific time you can visit. Almost all indoor locations closed, and some one way trails. The sky tram safari is closed as well The new elephant exibit is great: you can clearly see the elephants now and they look really happy.

Otherwise a good city zoo. Good enclosures and good animal interactions. They also have great behind the scene opportunities, with keeper for a day and spend the night at the zoo. Fun stuff. Great for families and anyone interested in animals.

Whelp..it was Awesomesauce! Not sure about the new penguin supervisor...the keeper was spreading ice and he watched, less than a foot away, and followed her all over the exhibit til she petted him.
It was great to take my "nephew and niece".

It was a perfect day for seeing the animals! The employees were all very helpful and polite, even through my family staying up until the last minute. Our favorite part was the Tropics building.

Loved the scenery. Visiting from out of town and this zoo was awesome. Very well kept clean and friendly staff. Luckily all the animals were still out since it was cold so we still go to see them.

Great for a family day. Bring a lunch and plan for lots of walking. Definitely make the trip to Africa, it's over half the zoo and worth the walk to see Cheetahs, gorillas, and hippos just to name a few. Generally very clean, and seems very animal friendly as well.

It was so much fun the kids had a blastthere was so many animals I think Africa took the longest 2 walkthrough out of all the different places you can go in thereAfrica's about a good hour and a half to 2 hour trip walking through the whole thing or they do have a gondola that goes over itlet you can sit down and write on and see almost everything except for the Gorillaz the Cheetahs the Lions but you get a pretty good view of the gazelles the rhinoceros the giraffes

I hate giving such a low review, because I love the zoo and the animals. Last week I went to the zoo as it reopened, since masks were required for admittance. I felt safe going, thinking everyone would be wearing a mask there. Many people were masking to get in, then taking their masks off right as they passed the entry point. About 50% of visitors, even a couple employees, were without masks. Many didn't social distance from my group either. I'm very disappointed with the lack of enforcement. I didn't enjoy my morning and left early because I felt unsafe.

The KC Zoo has undergone So many changes I was quite surprised. It had been Many years since I was there an it was remarkable what had been done. They even sell beer now! ($8.00 a glass). I have to give credit to the employees we had conversation with. They were All extremely courteous and polite an more than willing to help us in any way.
Also much to my surprise, not only was the train still running but they had a ski/air lift to another area and a Tram from the main zoo area to the new elephant area which is undergoing some serious renovation too but will no doubt be breath taking upon completion also.
DEFINITELY a day of enjoyment at the Kansas City Zoo!

I haven't been to the zoo in years a lot has changed and it was a great time the only thing that I noticed was some parts of the park like certain paths would be difficult or hard to use in a wheelchair without someone's help other than that I'd give it 5 stars and when I go back if those paths become more wheelchair friendly then I'll change this to 5 stars but until then it gets a 4

Its really nice place, its not as big as other Zoo's in the country, but its big enough to see most animals, also some fun activities like animal shows and riding sky lift in Africa section.

I can't tell you enough how much I love the zoo! The zoo provides wonderful opportunity to see and learn about many animals that most people would never have the chance to otherwise. My favorite thing though, is that they work with other zoos and facilities to propagate species and other conservation tasks. They seem to always be working to add to the zoo, making it a better place for both animals and visitors!

Christmas time at the zoo is such a unique experience. Due to the colder temperatures, not all animals may be in their exhibits but they add some special experiences to make up for it. I took my two-year-old to the penguin march and it was so sweet to see him and the other children (and adults) get excited about being up close to these stars of the zoo. Bundle up and enjoy getting outside on days that aren't too chilly.

The free roaming kangaroos are definitely the coolest part of this otherwise average zoo. Layout was terrible so we ended up walking 9 miles (the same distance we walked at the much, much larger Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha). It's worth visiting if you're in the area, though! The docents were very friendly and knowledgeable, so definitely take advantage of any opportunities to listen during your visit.

We visited here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and were very impressed. We didn t have time to eat prior to going since we were coming from out of town, and we enjoyed eating at the zoo. They had vegetarian options like black bean burgers which happened to be the best we ve had in a while. We did run into a problem where their were bees all over the trash cans, which apparently is something that happens this time of year. Management was very helpful and courteous and gave us a refund since my wife is severely allergic to bee stings, and we understood there is only so much they can do since bees are obviously apart of our ecosystem (Which we of course 100% agree with). We will definitely be back hopefully in either the winter months or early spring. The professionalism each employee displayed and most importantly management is why we really want to put that refund back into the KC Zoo.

This zoo was awesome! If you're visiting and have anyone in your group (especially little ones) that enjoy animals a little bit, check it out. I'm happy to see a zoo that puts so much effort into building actual habitats for their animals.

Admission is a little high for out-of-towners, but they offer discounted rates for residents of the adjoining counties. The zoo is very well-organized, with themed areas that group together similar animals (i.e., Africa, Australia, etc.).

The zoo is very large; you can cover the major, non-Africa sections in a couple of hours. However, you'll need another few hours to check out the Africa section, which is larger than the other sections combined. They offer a small train that will ferry you around the grounds if you don't feel like walking those long distances. My party unfortunately didn't get to see much of the Africa section beyond the elephant exhibit, but it was a blast.

Love the zoo, penguin and stingray exhibit are great. Hoping the aquarium plans go through. Don't mind the walking except for the trek to Africa. Highly recommend stroller or wagon for all kids 5 and under. Going during the week the food options are non-existent until 11, can make it difficult with kids.

Our kids love this place. They are alway improving. We have the friends of the zoo pass which basically pays for itself in a few visits. The kids love the carousel, train and tram rides. The penguin exhibit allows you to view them in the open air or watch them as they swim underwater. We love this place and come back often.

I took my family to the KC Zoo today, and I was impressed with the variety of the animals, the cleanliness of the exhibits, overall size of the park. I also appreciated the safety measures they were taking to kake sure their guests were safe from COVID. I was a little upset that they made sure you were wearing your mask upon entry into the park, but some people took them off as soon as they entered and left them off throughout the park.

The KC zoo has made some huge improvements over the last couple years. The penguin and sting ray exhibits are really nice additions. They are constantly adding new exhibits to keep things fresh, seems like we notice something new on every visit. It s worth it to try to hit the zoo keeper chats as the animals know they get food and they are all up and moving so you get much better views. The friends of the zoo season passes are a very good deal and more than pay for themselves if you plan on going to the zoo more than three times in a year. It s diffenatly worth taking the family to check out the new exhibits.

Our favorite family outing. We use our Fotz passes several times a month. Love the discounts as well. They are constantly improving animal habitats and adding new animals as well. We will continue renewing our pass for as long as we continue living within driving distance!

For the most part it was good except for when we were just leaving my almost 2yr old fell on an edge of the decorated stone play area by the entrance &ended up with a bloody nose and busted upper lip , im now at a getting him a few desolvable stitches , I would like this to be just a simple reminder for parents to take xtra precautions especially with toddlers

It was hot with masks but still a blast! I was saying the keeper talks and shoes were not running, but they had plenty of interactive options for smart phones if you wanted! I loved that they had free-roaming kangaroos! Most zoos have peacocks, this one has kangaroos.
The only indoor exhibits that were open were the penguins and the rainforest (with the frogs and macaws). The carousel wasn't running. Masks were required to enter and indoors but not when you were just wandering around social distancing.

We love the zoo. Lots of fun things to do here and see.. they offer fans with water spraying out to keep you cool, and transportation (train to Australia, Tram to Africa, as well as a sky lift). We have a membership, which also allows 50% off SeaLife downtown KC. Good isn't terrible and honestly, the best place to get food is in Australia (briscut and pulled pork). The bigger dining hall with more options is across from the penguins.

New addition of Stingray Bay is an are experience. You can touch the stingrays and sharks. Beautiful in the fall as well.. lots of walking but plenty of places to rest or places to take transportation.

The zoo was great. Tons of different exhibits and definitely fun for the kids. Be prepared to do lots of walking as the zoo grounds are huge. Love it because they have both indoor and outdoor exhibits. Affordable prices and you get your money's worth.

Half the zoo is under construction so we would of had to wait in line for more than an hour to see the other half. I had two elderly people with me and just couldn't do it. We also wanted to buy the platinum tickets, thank goodness we didnt. The teller rushed and charged us general cost then told us we could pay separate cost inside to use the train, carousel and it would be same price, that's a lie. This place has no customer service, the animals look unhappy, and they let people smoke every where.

Friends of the zoo member. Always a great outing for the family. Huge fan of the Penguin Plaza and the stingray exhibition. The new Orangutan enclosure is very nice. Cant wait for the new Elephant Enclosure to be done. Im sure it will be great.

The Kansas City Zoo is a great place to spend the day with your family. This large sprawling Zoo can be a bit hard to get through the entire park in one day which is usually why we will split it up. The prices are on par with other Zoos and the food selections are really good. With so much to see and do, everyday is a good day at the Zoo. The addition of Stingray Bay and feeding the camels is a nice new feature. We can't wait to see more of the new additions that the Kansas City Zoo has planned for the future (wolves, bears, and aquarium expansion). Perhaps we could even see a bigger/better reptile house or a rhino feeding/encounter!

Such a good place to spend the day. The exhibits are well thought out, some are a little small but everything is easy to get to and very informative. Everyone had masks on,even the kids. Most if not all the demonstration areas were closed,of course, but the snack shops were open so you could get a little knosh and sit in the shade. Their hours are short also,,10:00am to4:00pm. But they have a train, busses, and a sky ride. So much fun!

We love our educational zoo trips! KC Zoo is always a pleasant place to visit, with a wide variety of animals and educational programs to learn all about them. The atmosphere is fun and there are many docents and caretakers ready to answer questions and help you understand how important the animals and their work with the animals is. We have learned so much by visiting here and supporting conservation. All the animals in the KC Zoo are very well taken care of and healthy. Improvements are constantly being made so that the habitats are the best to offer these beautiful beings.

Is a very nice zoo. So much to see and alot of interactive stuff for kids to play on. But due to covid (im guessing) all of that including the little play parks and sting ray bay was closed off. Will definitely like to come back when everything is open again.

All the play areas are closed, it was raining so alot of animals weren't out, most of the snack shops are closed. The petting area isn't open. They definitely need to drop price of tickets since most things are shut down.

Always a pleasure going to the zoo. Brought my sister who is now in remission for her first visit. She is still week but we managed to make it 3/4 of the way to through Australia. This zoo is my peace all the staff and animals of all kinds. You go enough and they're like your babies lol. Love watching them grow. The animals as well as the zoo itself.

This zoo is well kept, clean and has a lot to do. I would recommend coming here over Sea Life. There are five different rides at the zoo so the $10 ride armband is well worth it. Rides are $3 each. Animal habitats are well taken care of and there are a lot of interactive things for the kids to do.

Nice clean zoo!! Most of the animals were active while we were there, only thing that we would do different, not wait 30 min for the tram for a 5 min ride that we walked back from in about 10 min. Sky lift was fun though!
