Pleasant day at the zoo. Lots of walking, great weather. Have gone since I was a child and its great to see the changes and improvements over the years. Most exhibits are well set up for the animals benefit. Chimps have so much area and woods that haven't seen any last 2 visits though. Food at Tuxedo grill was actually pretty good as well. You can also bring your own food, drinks and snacks. Many places to sit and eat. Go, you will enjoy it!

I love you zoo seeing all the animals that I don't usually get to see is such and enjoyment! I love the polar bear, stingray bay, lions, tigers, gorillas, wish we had bears and eagles would be amazing. Hope you enjoy the zoo as much as I do ?
We enjoyed ourselves today starting the early birthday celebrations for my nieces 3rd birthday... She loved it...her mom dad 2 sisters me her aunt and my mom loved it...we got lost a few times lol because it's so big and so much to see and do.. I loved the BBQ too super yummy.......
A lot of walking for the lack of animals. But, I dont want to drive over 3 hours to go to a free zoo that has more animals! My daughter loves the elephants.
From Memphis and our zoo may have more animals so I am partial to that but I loved how spaced out KC zoo is done. I like the safari ride you can take. It is near a great public park (at least it wasnt crazy busy the day when went!)
Love our zoo! There is a lot to see and it is best done over multiple trips. I take my 2 year old a lot and we usually see about 1/3 of the zoo per trip, spending around 3 hours (he walks so we don't move very fast). There are several exhibits near the entrance that are indoors (penguins, otters/monkeys, stingrays, reptiles) so its still a good place to go when the weather is less than pleasant. There are two playgrounds that look fun although my son is usually tired enough from the walking that we don't often stop. They have equipment for autistic kiddos which is fantastic. There are little zookeeper talks which can be interesting if you happen to catch one. We have trouble timing these as patience isn't a strong point for 2 year olds. I have heard that there is a breastfeeding room, but that it isn't the best so maybe just find a bench in the shade. The bathrooms all have built in toddler seats on the toilets which is a huge bonus as far as I'm concerned. They have a tram that runs out to the farther side of the zoo and it is only $2 round trip so we frequently take that. There is a petting zoo with several different kinds of goats including some endangered heritage breeds. There are two (three?) different walk through bird areas which is a nice change from viewing animals from behind a railing or glass. My son's favorite area is the penguins because they come right up to the glass. You can also see them underwater. Very fun! I would recommend getting a season pass if you are on the fence. Lots to do, and inexpensive if you live in Jackson County. Not sure how good or expensive the food is. We usually bring snacks.
Great place to take the youngsters on a December day, even the Claus couple were there to ask the big Christmas question. Good place to take their mind off the rush of this time of year because even Santa can not compete with our wonderful world of nature which is well presented by the great staff it the KC Zoo.
I thoroughly enjoyed the penguin exhibit which includes other sea life. The rest of the exhibits were fair-to-middling. Compared to other zoos, the KC Zoo lacks good horticulture to go with the experience. Plentiful space and walkways, so prepare for a good workout by the end of the day.
Was fun. Started to rain. Thought it was pretty spread out. Due to rain, experience was not as expected. Thought they would've given a voucher, but no.
A wonderful place to spend a day together with the family. Take the time to see all of the exhibits, feed the stingrays, pet the goats, ride the train, take the sky tram over the African Safari, or a boat ride through the lagoon. There is a lot to see and plenty to experience. You can take your own lunch and drinks. Really a nice place to spend time learning about whatever the rest of the world has to offer as far as wildlife goes.
The zoo is always a cool place to go, they were giving out candy and they had animals smashing pumpkins. Great place to go the weekend before Halloween.
Always a fun time coming here. Africa is the biggest area to travel, so we decided to ride the sky tram to cut down on time walking though Africa, but wasnt very impressed with the view. The sting rays and feeding the goats were the best exhibits.
Tiger enclosure is WAY too small but it is an amazing place to take kids for the day. We purchased the FOTZ membership simce we are not Clay/Jackson residents. Way too expensive to not buy the pass if you plan going more than once a year!
I found the visit to be fun. To improve - I believe more fans that spray water as you walk by would be helpful. It's hot in the summer & the littles need to cool down once in a while. Do APPRECIATE the shaded areas to sit.
My family loves this zoo! Everything from the Sky Safari over Africa to petting the Stingrays, if your kids (or kid at heart) wants to experience a wonderdul zoo, this is the place to go. They have plenty of benches and bathrooms along the way too
Great zoo with large amount of area to see animals with good habitat. Many rides and things do beyond just walking the paths. Multiple play areas if the kids need a break. Good pricing for the rides.
Had a fun day. Not all buildings and attractions are available. There should be a list on the website stating what is not available each day. Definitely need more than one restaurant open to get a beer from
Great zoo. Very big with lots of exhibits. We didn't quite finish everything in the 3.5 hours we were there, so give yourself lots of time. Only downside would be that despite having to make appointments, it was jam packed. Wouldn't advise going if you are uber cautious about covid. Overall it was a beautiful day and we had fun.
We always love our trips to the zoo! Everyone is always super friend and nice. They're doing a great job social distancing and sanitizing. I feel safe going there. We got a membership as a gift from a family member and it's awesome! You can ride the rides for free plus you get a discount in the gift shop and other stores. It's feels nice to support a local institution during these unprecedented times.
We bought a 2019 zoo pass in early February. We wish we had known they had recently changed the height restrictions on the Sky Safari as we would have purchased a different pass since we have a child well under the 36" threshold. We understand it's for safety purposes, but they could have and should have handled this differently.
Zoos are amazing in general but if it weren't for this crested screamer falling in love with me it would have been just wonderful instead of memorable.
Was raised in this neighborhood. Big Man the ape exhibit. Or Big mac can't really remember his name he would put on a show for you in or outside! You didn't have to look for him. He was looking for you!
Animals are healthy and well taken care of. Lots of interactive events all day. The park however is really big. I'd say it takes two day trips to comfortably see everything. One of the best zoos I've been to!
KC Zoo is great! We went for Autism Awareness Day! It was great to have a day for Autism Awareness at such a fun place. The activities were great, animals amazing, and the addition of the stingray bay was so cool! Will be coming back soon!
Love our zoo. New elephant habitat is beautiful. Always nice and helpful staff. Always clean. I've bought a season pass for 20 years and will always support this zoo.
The food was very expensive! Bring your own food, you are able to leave the zoo and come back once you get stamped. Free parking is a plus. Large fans with water sprayed through are located every so often durring the summer. You can bring in a baby bag, bottles of water, and strollers. Aparently phones and cameras are permited. Wide varity of animals.
We picked a good day to go to the Zoo last Saturday. Free Parking! Beautiful weather and a slight breeze. There were lots of visitors that day so we took off for Africa to avoid the crowds at the front gate. Very beautiful Zoo and in a spacious area. Well kept walking paths with flowers and blooming trees all along. Benches were all along the paths for resting or sitting and eating your ice cream. Very good! We were able to walk to the back part of Africa and catch the ferry back to the Entrance to Africa where you could catch the Tram to take you back up the hill. The line was long so I walked and my husband rode his scooter back up the hill. Didn't take long and we were by the Sea Lions and just in time to see the Show. Stand back if you don't want to be wet. It was a good day to just enjoy being outside after all the cold weather we had. Saw the baby giraffe Dixie. At first I thought she was a statue but then she started running. So beautiful!
Perfect place ! You will njoybevery bit of it. If you really want to complete the whole of it, move fast without delaying in one spot. Worth soending ur time and money.
Always a good trip. Bring lots of bottled water in the summer heat..very expensive to buy here. Go in the summer mornings so you can actually see the big cats and other animals.
We went to the Zoo on the 21st and to our surprise it was a Star Wars day. It was an unexpected treat. You could tell the people in costume were having fun.
Really enjoyed our day at the zoo arrived at 11 and left about 2 and didn't even see every thing, just got tired of walking. Sugest buying ride tickets as the African sky safari wasn't selling tickets at the chimp station. Was also disappointed that the giraffes weren't out when we were there.
My daughter LOVES the penguin house. This zoo is a hidden gem. We always have a blast, the exhibits Re nice, the park is clean, there is soo much to see you have to plan to be there the entire day or you'll miss out
Fun experience for families. They don't have the cruise boats running as of right now. I bought the $7 ticket so we could get on the trams and trains for an unlimited amount but only used it 2x, so it was not worth 7. A few of the animals aren't out right now, but it's definitely a fun activity to do with your family. In some areas people don't maintain 6 feet and all just crowd around and let their kids run wild, you've got to keep your eye out for those kids running around.
Great zoo. It's well maintained. A very wide variety of of animals, all of which look like they are in natural habitat. A great place for a family outing.
This has been the worst experience I have had here. Even with the limited access it was way over packed with people....almost all the building exhibits were closed...extremely low amounts of animals to see. Not worth the $150 I paid for my whole family to go! Dont waste your time.
Absolutely beautiful park with lots of fun exhibits. I really enjoyed the chimpanzee habitat and the walk through aviaries. Many animals were asleep because of the heat and sections of the park were closed because of the pandemic, but I still had a great time!
So cool as I was on a field trip with my eight year old granddaughter. We stayed after the bus took the kids back and did things we didn't get to do prior such as she rode on the carousel, we saw the lorakeets and we went to the African side of the zoo riding the tram there. They have really added to it and made it even more beautiful since the last time I was there. A great fall walk. We both loved it! Lots of walking and I am exhausted.
We went on Black Friday. Was a fantastic decision. It was empty, the animals were all out and playing and it was fantastic. All the exhibits were open and were able to see everything with no lines. As always, staff was friendly and there to answer any questions that you have.
This is a really wonderful zoo, but it is quite large and spread out, so plan to walk a fair amount. I would definitely recommend shelling out the $2 (round trip) for the tram. Otherwise you are looking at a really long and uneventful walk if you want to see the whole park.
It's a good zoo. The safety protocols that are in place a good for COVID. Some of the animals were MIA, but that happens. I would take the kids again for sure
We had a nice time strolling down the shadowed avenues of the Kansas City Zoo. However, I couldn't help but feel a bit of nostalgia. I remember back when our zoo was a great attraction. Children were educated about animal anatomy, behavior, and dietary habits during school field trips and family excursions!
There are various vacant enclosures. The Penguin, goat, and tiger exhibits are the best ones. We go to remain educated about and immersed in the ephemeral but logical world of our wild earth companions. Unfortunately, we were left still parched for knowledge with an ever widening chasm between man & beast.
I remember when my daughter and her friends, during their high school years, worked at the zoo. It was an awesome adventure. My children and I enjoyed watching the human like faces of the gorillas; being in awe of the humble yet majestic elephants, and feeling adoration for the beautiful bears that were the substance of legend and myth!
The food is now overpriced, inhabitants are loath to present themselves, and zoological education is a benefit of the not so distant past.
I started going here in the 1950's, it had lots of animals and fun things to do. Now they don't seem to want animals, instead they want other worthless things. A Zoo is where people come to see animals not buildings.
So great to have this little escape from the city. With regular zoo keeper talks and clean walkways it s a delightful time. The prices are also extremely reasonable.
I went just a few days ago and while yes it was November the weather was amazing the the staff reflected that by having as many of the animals out and in their enclosures as possible. My kids really loved the Koalas which are sadly leaving soon. But the staff at the zoo made our visit amazing as always.
I had a great time. If you are trying to get things off your mind or have a family or not this is the place to be. I walked over 6 miles that day. I also got to see the elephants get their bath time.
Kansas City had a great zoo. They work hard to keep the animals everyone's and have a lot of exists, adding new ones frequently. The price is also very reasonable. This is a great place to take a family in a budget.
I attended my cousin's field trip and was more than elated to see how clean the park was an sooo many animals. Parking was convenient and easy. I ate at a BBQ spot located in the "Africa" area. I spent $12 on two meats, a side, bread, and water. I will definitely be returning.
