My sons favorite part of our trip. We lucked out, as we had an older gentleman take us on what amounted to a guided, personal tour! Definitely worth going on an off peak day and getting there early!

We took the free tour at 4:30pm which ended just 30 minutes before the free concert at 6pm. The tour is great, taking you into both large theaters and a few of the reception rooms while providing much interesting information and details about the artwork and donations throughout.. the 2 entry halls and main hall/Millenium Stage are very impressive, as is the roof terrace and the views of the Potomac and DC. Another very accessible and worthwhile free attraction while in DC.

Didn't care for the "Moapalooza" event, as it was extremely hot, the sound was way too loud for the little kids sitting up front, and it seemed very self-promotional for the author (Mo Willems). However the new building housing the Moonshot Studio and others was very nice, and the other performance with the big hands (see photos) was fun.

Something for everyone! They have a diverse range of things to do with a great price range. If you like the performing arts you wont regret coming here! Do yourself a favor and check out the balcony during sunset!

Beautifully constructed, yet for a quality musical, it's no use. The stage was too narrow, seating arrangement was terrible enough to block my sight, and certainly there's an issue with their sound system. Might return to see the building, but never for a musical that worth 100 bucks.

I love this place. There are free shows on Fridays which I don't think people take advantage of. It's a beautiful building inside and out and the staff are always very helpful. I've sat in all different types of seats and always enjoyed the show. Parking can be pricey so be mindful of that if your driving there.

This is an impressive building. The architecture alone is just a joy to observe. Still, the concert room was acoustically amazing. I saw Shen Zun and the hidden orchestra could have played without any artificial sound enhancement. It was an immersive experience that I'd like to repeat. Oh, if you can avoid buying food there, please do. Like all special event centers it is horrendously expensive. Still, the atmosphere is good.

ELF The Musical was TERRIBLE!

ELF The Musical was TERRIBLE!

This was by far the worst musical I have ever seen. If you have seen the movie, it is a disappointment because the story is butchered and "modernized" but becomes disjointed. The jokes are not as funny and if you have seen it as much as I have, the anticipation of something funny is a let down. Our "Buddy" did not really look the part. The acting was mediocre at best and the production was terrible. There were long drawn out speaking parts and actual gaps in the lines leaving silent "dead air!" It was like they had not rehearsed at all. If you have not seen the movie then it will be a disappointment because the story line is so hacked up that you will not know what is going on. There is a lot of context left out: where is Papa Elf?, no locker scene with the great "Baby It's Cold Outside" duet?, little of Buddy discovering NYC, no Miles Finch?.

Warning, this show is NOT kid friendly! There are terms and phrases that are inappropriate for younger viewers, but probably only slightly worse than TV. In my opinion this was a complete waste of money and time. You can buy 20 copies of the DVD for what we paid to go to this amateurish review.

The Kennedy Center is a gem in the heart of DC. Pure top notch entertainment. All of the shows I have seen there have been fantastic from opera, ballet, symphonies, aerial acrobatics, to live bands and more. I always am excited when I go there for an event. The Millenium Stage has free daily shows early in the evening. They also have a good restaurant with great view on top level.

We had a great time at the Kennedy Center. We saw a fantastic production of the musical Dear Evan Hansen. The Kennedy Center is a beautiful and historic venue. The musical was wonderfully performed by a talented cast, ensemble, and crew.

A landmark DC home for all kinds of performances. I've seen the symphony, Book of Mormon, ballet, West Side Story. Parking is expensive. $23. In believe if you book it in advance you pay $20. I always forget until the day of, and I wasn't able to get the discount. The theaters are beautiful, quality programming, and it's a fun night out. The restaurants are expensive. Ate at KC Cafe. Surprisingly good food and the "cheaper" option. Everyone should go at least once.
