Just a great place to hang out, Kepler's next door...

Just a great place to hang out, Kepler's next door.
Great food, great service. High quality art on the walls.
Very casual place to sit out side on a Sunny day.good food and service
Awesome, simple, little place. Good food. Good drinks. Nice people.
Pros: Parking, Self seating and amazing food. We had pancakes, waffles, and the French toast....everything was delicious! I usually hate eating French toast because no one knows how to make it not soggy but this place can!!! Will go there again!
Cons: Too many people so get there early.
The food is very good, but the place is crowded, noisy and hectic. The servers also often forget part of the order.
I stopped here for breakfast and got the French toast. Amazing. The food (and the chai) was amazing and the staff is super friendly.
Well prepared food at a reasonable price, be ready to wait if you visit during the weekend, as it is very popular. Would definitely go back if in the area.
Very good place for breakfast and coffee. Beware there's lot of wait time.
Breakfast here is so good! Many options from sweet to savory-all good choices! And the coffee bar is phenomenal - best mocha I've ever had!
Good coffee. Great outdoor seating. Bookstore nearby. Also a fountain.
Tip: Cafe Borrone is a Menlo Park institution. Their most famous item is the Frosted Mocha drink which is a precursor and better than any Starbucks frappuchino and their Tiramisu.
Good food and good environment. Very European feeling and a wonderful place to people watch. Good for breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner. Their frozen mocha is better than a Starbucks frappachino
It is the best service that has ever existed and everything is very, very delicious but my faborito is pastrami and lasana
Great place to go with kids, try San Francisco cappuccino it's amazing
Great food, atmosphere and people watching. Plus, it's right next to Kepler's bookshop!
The food's always fantastic, but it's an especially great spot on a nice day - plenty of outdoor seating. Great breakfast. Also next door to a fantastic bookstore (Kepler's) - grab yourself a new book and then read it over a delicious meal.
You know a cafe is upscale when there isnt self serve ketchup, and you have to request it so that it can be served to you in a small porcelin cup. Eggs are cooked just right, and potatoes are just crispy enough to be called bougey. Definitely vegetarian friendly, and decor is a hybrid of metro slick and chalk-menu hip. Great house coffee.
It's getting to be very overpriced, like $18.00 for a burger and bun, 1slice of cheese and 3 med potato wedges on a small sized plate! A good way to keep customers from coming back I'd say.
The customer service is constantly quick, excellent vibes, very friendly staff. I will come back again when I am in the area.
Humanely raised meats, excellent cheese boards and cocoa with whipped cream. Has been consistently good for over 20 years.
Must haves: pastries, coffees and veggie melt!!! Great breakfast place!!!
Great place for breakfast with a wide offering of breakfast pastries, egg dishes, bagels, scones, muffins etc... Hot drinks are good. Seating area quite big.
Long wait on Sundays...frosted mocha was great... everything else was pretty standard fare brunch
Good place for coffee and to do some work. Nice vibe.
Probably the coolest coffee in the Valley, with a more sophisticated audience than him Philz de Palo Alto, where the freakies that go there to program with their MacBooks dominate, with better / more varied food (breakfast sandwiches tend to be memorable) and with a coffee more adapted to Spanish taste (machine, not filter)
I know it's not important, but here I discovered in 1994, before Starbucks arrived in Spain, the iced mochas, which are still fantastic, and particularly the Mexican Mocha version, made with Mexican chocolate and less sweet
In the evenings they have several specials for dinner (although you can also use that sandwich club in focaccia bread that is not easy to forget). They also serve beers, including a very decent local IPA (from Berkeley Fieldwork Brewery)
In short, this site is not lacking anything. It even has a wonderful bookstore (Kepler's) next door, and even the waitresses are gorgeous. One of my favorites of the bay ...
Outstanding food integrate setting between the railroad tracks and downtown.
Fresh delicious salads. Coffee and desserts are not quite as good but it's fun place to hang out.
Cafe Borrone used to have great food at reasonable prices for those of us who aren't affluent. Example-you could get a bowl of minestrone with fairly large baguette with it. I had to pay $2.50 extra for a skimpy-skinny short baguette. The soup is not bad but would be even better with smaller pasta(the noodles were too big to eat with a spoon). More veggies than just a few carrots and beans. Over $6 for a bowl is a little pricey for a non-adventurous soup that is not expensive to make. All the other meals were expensive.
Male Casheer a bit snooty without the qualifications
Favorite cafe on the Peninsula. Have been going for 13 years. Blueberry scones and white chocolate hazelnut frozen coffee are indulgences. Salads and sandwiches are always great.
Weekend lines get crazy.
Fabulous meeting place , right next to Menlo Park Caltrain .....great food.
Indoor/outdoor seating
Great place for brunch or a quick drink. Frosted mocha is a must try. Lines can get long long during peak hours and they don't have any high chairs or boosters for kids.
Great coffee shop, perfect for coffee chats to catch up with friends. Great atmosphere. The food is not amazing, but the frosted mocha is to die for. Highly recommend as a unique place in South Bay.
Service is quick. Sitting can be crowded. Food was good. Cafe was good. Never got too loud.
Amazing chicken salad salad. Great wine list. Tons of outdoor seating. I've been coming here for 15 years and I love it every time.
Great outdoor seating always with an intriguing crowd. Coffee is scrumptious.
This is a staple of Menlo Park. Great food, good service.
High quality food for a coffee shop including hot sandwiches, hot breakfast, salads, and more. Coffee is priced steeply. I've only gone on weekdays and am sure it is a mad house on weekends.
Great food, drinks and atmosphere but pretty expensive and busy
Delish! Get there early and enjoy the patio weather. Breakfast potatoes are to die for.
Loved the calm cool atmosphere at this cafe. It s not the nicest setting because of construction but the staff are very nice and helpful. And the pappardelle for dinner was fantastic! The fresh salad with tuna was pretty good as well.
Borrone is a staple of Menlo Park! Great for meeting just about anybody. No air condition. Nice changing selection of beers in tab, great coffees, fresh food. Not a bargain but very friendly service.
For a regular I'm sure this place is a solid staple, but as a wanderer I found it a challenge.
Let's start with the good. Clean, open air patio, helpful staff, and a genuine feel.
Now the challenge. As someone who knew very little about this place I felt lost. I tried to grab a seat on the patio and order but was told I needed to go inside and order. When I approached the counter the board displaying today's specials but no mention of a menu. I ordered a #2 scramble (eggs, potatoes, and onions) which had a decent flavor profile but was under seasoned. The portion size would have fed a petit appetite but left me still hungry. Would definitely recommend if your hungry to order a side with your scramble.
Crowded but has got great vibe. Delish spread and friendly staff.
Best coffee in Menlo Park; though, that doesn't say much!
Cafe Borrone is the best brunch place I have ever been to. The hot chocolate with whipped cream honestly changed my life. I had the French toast and it was so incredibly divine, perfectly soft and melting in my mouth in a way I've never experienced before. Would recommend this place to absolutely everyone!
Credited with changing the dining and community dynamic of Menlo park, Cafe Borrone is still my go to for breakfast, coffee or dining out with my kids!
Good place to go and hang out. Their got chocolate is very good and so is their home made whipped cream.
Decent food, good coffees, but they don't have high chairs! It's crazy to me that a brunch/lunch place in downtown Menlo Park would be so unfriendly for families. The food was good, but certainly not worth the hassle of trying to wrangle a 1 year old while waiting for food or eating.
Nice atmosphere. I liked their selection of wines and the live music on Friday evening!
I had the half order french toast. Loved it because:
A) It has a nice crispy outside.
B) It isn't super heavy.
C) You can get a half order.
Machiatto was ok. Don't know about other items on the menu.
Good spot for breakfast or just to chill. French Toast was fantastic! Has nice outdoor seating too.
great food and great service. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and the service is fast. There is a bunch of menu items, and most dietary restrictions can be abided by. Overall, it's a great restaurant in the heart of Menlo Park.
Best Chicken Salad Sandwich I've ever had. All of their food is great albeit pricey. Definitely recommend their Chicken Salad sandwich or the Trip Tip Sandwich. The Frosted Mocha is a MUST have. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Try to avoid typical dining hours as it can be very busy.
Amazing breakfast. Waffles and pancakes are tasty. My wife and I particularly love the potatoes and onions side dish. You must go here!
Very popular with locals, opens early and the food is good.
A local classic. Expensive, but great food. Right next to an equally wonderful bookstore.
Good place. Good coffee and food.
Downsides: No WiFi, no outlets, and no AC... So if you need to work while waiting for Caltrain, this may not be your best choice.
