The food was fabulous! Best Kielbasa and Sheppard pie I've ever had...nice to find a restaurant where portions are normal size and so delicious. ..The peanut butter banana cream pie was to die for! We will definitely be back and soon.

This place is really a great neighborhood place. My daughter moved nearby and we decided to try it out based on good online reviews. Really glad we did. Everyone on our party of 5 loved their food but the standouts were the fish and chips and the hog wings. Fish was crispy outside and flaky and moist inside. The Hog Wings......pretty much the most perfect pig based appetizer I have ever had. And I have had a lot of them! Will be the standard by which I judge all restaurant pork dishes. Service was fast and friendly and the interior comfortable and clean.

This is a great place to hang out and hear some great music. I've found the food to be very good as well, but I tend to just order a sandwich and fries. I haven't tried the more elaborate items on the menu. Waitresses and bartenders are very quick but very friendly and welcoming (which does make a difference in my eyes). Very much the "town hangout" bar where everyone is family.

I stopped by here this past Wednesday evening with two co workers for dinner. We were looking for a place somewhat near the hotel we were staying at whenever the Half Door came up and we headed over. The inside of this place is reminiscent of an Irish Pub

Been coming for a long time as I lived nearby at one time. Moved away but keep coming back. Food is as big a draw as the imported beer on tap. Beer fine enough for even the most discriminating taste. I don't know how they source it. Brunch on weekends is a great place to bring out-of-towners. Enjoy.

This place hands down have some of the best burgers that I've ever had. The Baja burger was on point along with the fries. I'd also recommend getting the tater tot sides as well. Everything was super fresh and good quality. Definitely coming back here again!

I visit Hartford often. Two Sunday brunches down, and many more to go. I want to try every single thing on the menu. Anything with corned beef hash is a must. They make their own, and it shows! Food is wonderful, and great cocktails, too. Family friendly; comfy "pub" atmosphere. I will return often!

I went here with my family and two boys who are only 3mo and 2 yr's. We were skeptical due to it being a pub and not quite a family establishment. However we were shocked at the service, and the environment as well as the food, my god was it amazing all around! We had first some sausage and mash which was amazing. Then I had the Irish stew which was by far the most amazing and tender lamb I have ever had, my wife had a salad since she is a vegan but said it was very good. My mother in law had a portobello mushroom sandwich which she rated 7/10 saying it was very good and even though they don't have a "kids menu" per say they were more then willing to give a children s size of chicken tenders and fries to accommodate my oldest. If I lived closer I would love to come by more often but this will definitely be on my top lists when I'm in the area!

I have never had to leave a review like this before and I'm a little sad that I actually have to write a review like this. We came in for brunch today after all the positive reviews and a really nice menu. We walked in about half past 10 on a Sunday morning. The place was pretty empty and we were standing around waiting to be seated and after a while the bartender told us we could seat ourselves at any open spot.

We sat at our table for a few minutes and finally someone came by to drop off two menus. He didn't ask us if we wanted waters or a coffee. Once we decided what we wanted, we waited for a server to come by to take our order. No one came. During the 15 minutes or so we were waiting at our table, two couples came in. Both were told right away where to sit, unlike us. One of the couples sat at the same long table as us, on the left side; we sat on the right. Someone came to them right away with menus. He got them their drinks right away and their utensils. We still decided to wait, no one came.

There were multiple servers just standing around, one by the bar with the bartender just chatting, one in the back by the kitchen just talking, and one guy help a couple sitting at the same table us. I have never walked out of a restaurant before, ever. Today was my first time. They were not ageist as there was a variety of ages in the customer group and the servers and bartender are relatively young. I made eye contact with the bartenders and servers and no one came by to serve us or take our order. I absolutely hate saying this, but it felt as though they were treating us differently simply because of our race. We 'stood out' relative to the other customers. I hate jumping to conclusions but I've never felt like this before eating at a restaurant. Straight up felt racial.

I am appalled and disgusted. What a way to start your morning. As a previous server, I know during peak hours it is difficult to give every customer the perfect experience. This place wasn't even half full and it was slow enough for the employees to socialize with each other and tend to new customers and the current customers except for us.

If you really don't want our business, you could have just asked us to leave before even sitting down. Or if you want our money, at least pretend to be nice? Judging by how none of the servers cared, this is probably a common attitude amongst the employees. I'm all for supporting small businesses but not businesses like this. Wish there was an option for zero stars. Can't even speak for the food because they practically pushed us out the door before we could even get a water.

I have yet to go to Half Door and not find it crowded. Service is ridiculously slow, but it's always such a fun time to be here. I especially come here for early morning English Premier League games because they not only show all the games, they actually put the audio on! Good tap list too. Fair warning, parking is near impossible to find.

This place is my favorite Hartford-area pub. The beer selection is very good, and the food is tasty. Some first-rate Irish bands perform here on weekends, and the place can get packed at these gigs. Finding street parking takes a bit of work, but I have never failed to find a spot somewhere on Sisson Ave., if you don't mind walking a couple of blocks.

Would give it 1 star but my husband's meal was good. His beer order got mixed up. It took a while to get our food and my fish was skimpy, over battered and over cooked. I am turned off fish for awhile.

This is my favorite place for a date with my husband. We love getting a Boddingtons on draft and something warm and tasty to eat! We always get the soft pretzel with cheese to start. It's really becoming a tradition for us.

My boyfriend took me here when we visited Hartford and I love this place. Really cool bartender and great beer selection. I also really enjoyed the ambience and the bathrooms were super clean (yes!). Hope to visit the next time we go back!

The most important thing about making food regardless of how good the food is personal hygiene I personally witness the uncleanness of the kitchen especially on the weekend brunch. The cooks do not wash there hands they drop utensils on the floor and continue to use them..they are completely and utterly disgusting considering this is a great pub..I personally won't eat here. They do not take the steps necessary to make sure no cross contamination is happening or do they seem to care. It's nasty and I was extremely appalled at how the staff act so unconcerned about it. I would like to see some action be taken instead of seeing a good establishment shut down on a surprise visit from health matters.

The atmosphere at the Half Door is just like being in Ireland. The occasions I have been here are on St. Patrick s Day But I do want to return for some wonderful Irish dining at a quieter time.
On St. Patrick s Day the menu is shortened to a few selections because it is so busy with people partying and dancing to the wonderful Irish music that is played. It is a very special night! I loved it!!! I ll be back!

Food & service amazing! Went when Jack Riley played, awesome music, laid back sound, classics, contemporary and not so loud that my friends and I couldn't enjoy our food and conversation. The perfect combination. We will be back!

Great neighborhood bar with a staff that cares enough to remember your name and drink orders. Everybody, front and back of the restaurant, cares about the customer enjoying themselves.

Everyday is a new day with them. They keep coming up with new ideas to get me to come and I usually do. Bar tenders are cool. Food is delicious. Music is great. St. Patrick's day is packed.
