I have been here three times and the food is very good and the place has a great look. The service oddly enough is not consistent. I have had good service there twice however my last visit was marred by a person who took the cash and did not give me change. The amount kept would have amounted to over 30% for a tip.

Food wise it is very good stuff, nice classic French food but with great Californian ingredients. The tasting menu is a nice way to get acquainted with the place. Desserts are fun and tasty. Always go for something seasonal if you cannot decide. I do not drink coffee but my sister did there and she fount it burnt which is very odd for such a good place.

One of the things that daunts me about writing and reading online reviews is the flat five-star system. How do you rate a Michelien three star restaurant on the same scale you use for a taco truck. I guess you rate places that fall into similar categories against other places in their class.
So a superficial pass over the reviews would give the impresion that there are auto parts stores that I like better than this restaurant. That is just grossly unfair. For clarity, then, I have to shout. THIS IS A VERY GOOD PLACE TO DINE! There are simply others that strive to be first-echlon dining establishments in cities like Sacramento where my experience outshone my one dinner at The Firehouse. But I will try this one again.
The large interior is a very attractive space with a gold-rush era victorian feel. Service is attentive with formality held to a 'California' level that was quite comfortable for us. The wine list is indeed wide-ranging. Its greatest concentration, appropriately enough, seemed to be Napa, Sonoma - regions about which my education is deficient. But I found a Spanish Red that we loved. The menu was the limiting consideration. Choices were limited and unimaginative. The specials were likewise.
The cooking was well executed but by virtue of the menu, uninspired. Not to say the dinner wasn't good. It was, like good home cooking, most enjoyable. But not exciting.
Prices were high enough to justify loftier expectations.
Would I go back? I intend to.

Went here for a business dinner during a recent trip to Sacramento. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it. The food and service were excellent! It's truly a fine dining spot, with pre fixe (5 courses) options or ala carte. Amazing selection for wine, too! The porkbelly is a must...it simply melts in your mouth. The scallops are also amazing, as are the steaks and other seafood options. The location is great, too (old-town Sacramento). Can't wait for an excuse to go back!

Dinner was incredible. I went with my aunt who is a vegetarian and hates mushrooms. A lot of their herbivore friendly meals contain mushrooms but they were very accomodating and managed to whip up something she loved. The bartender was so fun, invented me a drink that was absolutely delicious and told me that he may submit it to their drink competition to have it added to the menu. I took a photo of him making it and texted it to him for his own record which was really lucky of me because I accidentally left my sunglasses there. So he texted me and I wad able to get them back. Such service is uncommon nowadays.

Great Food with IMPECCABLE Service. If You visit here (and like your Bourbon) I HIGHLY recommend you try the Diamond Fashioned. Not as sweet as the traditional with a nice bite. 2020 is there 60th Anniversary year and I am definitely coming back for their tasting menu.

Firehouse is one of the few "fancy" restaurants in Sacramento. All the staff are very well dressed and the courses are masterfully prepared by the chefs. Between each course, small tasters are provided to help either cleanse or prepare your palate for the next course. Overall, the experience is definitely different than your regular night out at a restaurant. To help those thinking about visiting, I had the chicken for my main course and it was probably the best chicken dish I have ever had (it was not overcooked and was extremely moist).

This was such a fun experience! Got to sit by the fireplace and have a wonderful view of the dining area and outdoor seating areas as well. Such a nice staff and helpful with questions about food and wine. Francisco was friendly and fantastic sense of humor. Definitely recommend and would go again

I wrote about another restaurant in town that should be in the top three, and Firehouse is another one that should be. Consistently excellent food. Ambience is unbeatable. Courtyard for lunch is a must do in Sacramento. They just put honey wheat bread back on the table and it is better than ever. Lunch prices are incredibly reasonable and the menu is extensive and varied and delicious. Dinner is a treat and you will not be disappointed. Recommend you go hungry and try a little from each category. Portions are generous so plan to share or take some home with you. The people working here are wonderful.

The day after Valentine's Day was my first time at the Firehouse. The decor and lighting were wonderful, with plenty of space between tables, adding to the intimacy it allows for conversation. The service was top notch, with continual water, and bread refills. Our waitress was amazing, and wonderful, making great suggestions, and checking on us regularly. The food price may seem a bit high, but every course was easily worth it's price. Perfect portions, and the food tasted impeccable. I will definitely be back.

I ate there with a special woman on our first date on 6-15-18. I ordered the "Snake River Ribeye steak" for a modest $54. Having spent two years as a meat cutter for Harris Ranch I'm very familiar with the various cuts of beef, so I was blown away when Chris (the waiter) delivered a slice of tough rump roast. I brought this to his attention, and he stated " well this is a unique cut called a ribeye that was made famous in New York". I paid but left no tip, as I was clearly ripped off. Can I sell an old Toyota Carolla and call it a Porsche because some guy somewhere made it famous by delivering a sub standard product that's named after a quality one? No, in fact I believe the term for that is fraud.

The Firehouse Restaurant is an amazing place to go eat at and has quite a few of selections you can choose from. My family and I came here for my brother's birthday and it was honestly one of the best dinners we as a family has ever had. They made us feel very welcome and we will be coming more often.

Really nice location in old Sac. Wonderful old west decor with a full bar as you walk in. They have great meeting rooms downstairs that provide a nice comfortable feel. Service is fantastic and very professional. Not a place to take kids. Do take advantage of the valet parking right at the front door. Well worth the $5 that will most likely be comped!

We did not have a reservation, yet they were very accommodating. We ended up having 10 people, there wasn't enough room for us up stairs, so they set up a beautiful table downstairs for us. Then 2 more friends showed up and they were very quick to set up 2 more places at the table. Our server, Daniel, was absolutely Stupendous! He had a great personality and took care of us as if we were Kings and Queens. We will definitely be going back there!
Unfortunately, we didn't get any photos. This place rates a 17 out of 10!

Wonderful restaurant with a friendly staff. The General Manager, Mario Ortiz was kind enough to share the history of the restaurant and building. Including the extensively stocked wine room, with a beautiful hand painted floor.

Great place! One of my favorite places to hang out! Great atmosphere, friendly people. slow but worth the wait. Best milkshakes in town. Good candy and sandwiched as well. You know it has to be good when you're willing to wait in a line out the door for a booth!! Amazing shakes! Amazing turkey sandwiches!

I have been wanting to try Firehouse for awhile. The boyfriend and I decided to try it out during restaurant week. Restaurant week also happened to be during my birthday so this is where I had my birthday dinner. Food was amazing. We had the gnocchi for appetizer and it was absolutely amazing. It literally melts in your mouth and I did not know gnocchi could do that. We tried out the prie fixe menu for restaurant week. I had the steak with vegetables and the boyfriend had salmon with vegetables. Our entrees were delicious. We had the chocolate mouse and apple pie cake for dessert. We weren't too impressed with dessert but it wasn't a huge loss. Overall, we enjoyed our fine dining experience. Our waiter was great and the atmosphere was relaxing. Would definitely go back again for a special occasion.

Randy is the Assistant General Manager & Special Events Director. He worked with my husband and I throughout the entire planning process. He was always just a phone call or email away with answers to our concerns. He made our wedding vision come to life. During the big day, he made sure we were hydrated and cared for us with the most detailed service. He is quite literally, my favorite person... besides my hubs.

Yesterday was our first time we went to this fine restaurant. But It is surely not the last time. We passed a splendid evening with the attentive service, with the excellent cuisine and booze and with the honest pay. We will absolutely return there in a short time.

We have eaten here quite a few times. Dinners, lunches and a New Years eve special night. Although a bit pricey (hey its high end dining) every time they did not disappoint. The food was excellent and in good quantity without over doing it. The drinks are well crafted too. The dress is more or less business casual, it is not the kind of place to wear shorts and flip-flops, I doubt they would ask you to leave, it is simply a "classy place" and you would feel out of place. Besides there are plenty of shorts an flip-flop eateries that are cheaper :)
They have valet parking which is a plus when Old Sacramento gets busy and its hard to park. Take note, when entering Old Sacramento from "i" street there is a Parking garage on the left but also an large lot to the right, under the overpass and you can use the parking app. It's only a five minute walk to the Firehouse from either of these locations. Also, there is also another parking structure near the Emabassy Suites and Tower Bridge (big yellow one).

5 stars because the experience was very nice. our server seemed a little nervous but was friendly and attentive. The ambiance was nice and romantic of course. The price is a little high for the food, which was excellent by the way. I was a little dissapointed in the flavor of my Delmonico of beef (rib eye steak) but it was cooked perfectly medium rare (I seem to have bad luck and tend to get poorly cooked steaks when eating out, that didn't happen here). The scallop and pork belly appetizers were both delicious. I would certainly come back for a special occasion.

Wonderful first time to have dinner here. Service is high end perfect. It's expensive and food was great. Expect to dress up for dinner as most customers did.
Really expensive but this is a treat. I will knock off half a star today due to I felt carpet looking a bit tired on staircases and my table next to bar the chair rail had not been dusted in some time. Ok this is a small detail but just not expected at a top restaurant.

Came for a business lunch a few days ago and the food was fantastic. We were seated downstairs facing the courtyard. My lunchmate and I both ordered their special, a salmon BLT. It was delicious! The salmon was perfectly grilled and the flavor was amazing, especially when paired with the bacon and sandwiched between fresh focaccia bread! Would definitely come back again!

Great establishment. Food was delicious and it had my favorites. For the whisky on the rocks drinkers they serve distilled cubes. Oysters are perfect and the apple cider vinegar gives them a special twist.
