First time in Sacramento and was in waterfront district during dinner time so decided to have dinner before driving home.

We didn't make a reservation but really wanted to try the Firehouse, so we dined at the bar. We were lucky to get seats pretty quickly and to be able to eat there, as the meal did not disappoint at all.

Menu selections were in good variety and were very attractive--I love unique interesting combinations. Plating looked beautiful, and cooking was executed very well! Our very funny server/bar manager provided good service; although he couldn't be attentive when every of our course was served, he was serving 8-10 of us at the bar so it's understandable.

The following was worth mentioning: I really liked the citrusy taste of the "winter is coming" cocktail, and the smoked salt at the rim was a nice addition! The crust on the pork belly was a nice surprise! It was a little salty for me, but a sweet (fava bean? green tomatoes?) compote compensated. The brine made the pork chop so evenly salted and juicy, and it paired really well with the apple butter sauce. My husband is usually a steak guy, but both of us were glad he ordered the pork chop instead.

I could say a lot more good things about our meal... but overall we were very satisfied with the meal--that's why I give (my rarely-given) 5 stars!

We were on a road trip and were wandering around the old historic district in Sacramento looking for lunch before we went to the railway museum. We checked the menu and it sounded like our kind of place to eat. When we walked in, I was a bit concerned that we had walked into the wrong place. But we were offered seating in the outdoor courtyard so we went along with the host. Still thinking it wasn't the place it had said on the outside posted menu - much nicer and more "upper class"than the menu and prices would have indicated. We decided to wait it out until we saw the menus as we could always bolt and run if we were in the wrong place.

Between the beautiful patio, immense wine cellars, excellent food and service, this is one of my favorite places to go in Sacramento. It is great for business lunches and romantic dinners or anything in between.

The outside dining was beautiful. It was a nice shaded area where we could eat our food. We shared the gnocchi which was nice and crispy on the bottom. My partner ordered lambchops and I ordered the pappardelle. We both enjoyed our food. Our server also brought over a dessert for his birthday. must try

I was there for a company event. It is beautiful inside, food was decent, but the drinks being made at the open bar were all terrible. Because everything else was good, I give this place 4 stars.

What an amazing spot to celebrate my parents 75th Birthday. The food, the staff, and the ambiance was amazing. The only call out was the time in which it took to serve the main course. Between the salad and main course it took an eternity.

The bartender was AWESOME! I would name him buy name if I could, taller older gentleman. I hope our service was out of character for the Firehouse. Waiter was not knowledgeable and food was cold. I assume if we sat in another service section it would have been a much better experience. The manager and bartender saved a 2 rating over a 1

This restaurant has incredible ambience. The drinks were great, and the service was expected for this type of restaurant. The food was extremely disappointing. I had the New York strip medium rare.

First off, the salad was drenched with salad dressing. When the medium rare New York strip that I ordered came to my table, it was a medium. I had the server take it back and he brought me back another steak that was still medium. What was the point at this second time around to send it back again? It was tough and hard to chew and the new potatoes were just OK. The brussels sprouts were decent, but not enough of them.

For $113, the food was extremely overpriced for what you got. And don t get me wrong- we typically eat at Land and Ocean in Roseville and the bill is about $20 more, but the steaks are incredible.

I was so looking forward to an amazing experience, and I was greatly disappointed.

The Firehouse restaurant is a beautiful and quaint Italian place with a very friendly wait staff. The ambiance is great for a quiet evening with your significant other or hey, If you're really looking to impress gentleman, great for a first date.
I feel like its a little overpriced for the quality of your meal but the atmosphere and friendly staff definiitely makes this one of my favorite places in Old Sacramento.

Bland overpriced steak and small portions. Save your money and go to The Buckhorn! The owner always tries to respond with low stars and states that the manager reaches out. The manager doesn't do anything to make it right!
Classy!

The Firehouse is a Sacramento institution and for a good reason. Each time you go there it is every bit as good as the last time you were there. Few restaurants last as long as this establishment but when you enter the front doors, get seated, and then put your first bite into your mouth you will know why it has succeeded. This is a must visit for anyone looking for a dinner spot in Sacramento.

Delicious food, wonderful service. My husband and I walked in without a reservation and were able to be seated without a problem. The atmosphere is very upscale but the servers and staff are professional without being pretentious or make you uncomfortable. I highly recommend eating here. (My only warning is that it's a bit pricey, but worth it).

Excellent food and superb service. Visited during busy week of school graduations so the restaurant was very packed, without a reservation we were offered a table at the bar area and received royal treatment. I had super delicious ahi tuna steak and my friend enjoyed prime rib steak. Both items were perfectly prepared. I will certainly visit again when I return to the area.

We were seated half an hour after our confirmed reservations and instead of apologizing for their inefficiency, the hostess just gave excuses. Not what one wants to hear when shelling out a few hundred dollars for a slightly above average meal. I gave them an extra star because our server was attentive and pleasant. But I won't be coming back.

It was a magical experience. The atmosphere is that of high-class elegance. I ordered the chef's special and every dish I was served was both beautiful and delicious. So far, this is the best restaurant I have ever visited.

The Firehouse is magical, elegant and timeless. It never disappoints. We've come here over the years for weddings, holiday parties, lunches, and lovely dinners with friends and family. The menus are always lovely, seasonal and exquisitely prepared. The wine list is the finest in all of Sacramento. The Courtyard is one of the most lovely spots anywhere in the Sacramento area for dining or having a large event.

My most recent experience was planning an event for over 100 people. As usual, the staff made it all seem easy from menu planning, audio-visual needs and set up. Ashlii Bullock, their event planner, although new to The Firehouse is a professional through and through. I told her what I needed and she handled everything. She had some great ideas too. She's wonderful to work with. Everything came together without a hitch and I received emails for days from guests who'd attended the event and all said it was a lovely affair.

The Firehouse will always be my Go-to restaurant for any reason and in any season. Who needs to have a reason when there's great food, stunning wines and a lovely historic place to gather with friends and family? The Firehouse never disappoints.

I wanted to give it 5 stars but there's always room for improvement; I had the salmon, it was good but I would rather have it without grain salt, cooked perfectly though. Now ; lobster Mac and cheese; it was good but I don't think adding Panko crumbs makes it any better ( Panko crumbs are overpowered by the richness of the fat that they absorb). I loved the Hefenweizen (Sudwerk) 100 times better than a blue moon. The patio seating is perfect! Overall, I would recommend for a once in a while occasion!

This was the highlight of our quick journey to Old Sacramento. The staff were amazing in every way. They accommodated my diet restrictions and helped me choose things that would be in my best interest. This dining experience was the best I've had in my adult life, so far. I'm already planning on a second trip to enjoy this fine dining again.
The food is unimaginably delicious. I don't know how they made everything taste so good, but even the most normally mundane ingredient was elevated to exciting heights for the taste buds. The meat was tender and delicate. The salad was balanced and flavorful. The scallops melted in my mouth with just the slight hint of seasonings. I would highly recommend this fine dining experience, even if just once.

We were a large group of 20 with a reservation. The Firehouse agreed to give us separate checks, which is a rare concession. Very much appreciated. We had a private room with a dedicated server and busperson. Service was good. Everyone was pleased with their food. The Sauerbraten was excellent--the beef was marinated in vinegar as it should be, the housemade pasta was light and tender, the sauce very flavorful.

Wonderful old school fine dining in Old Sac! Their patio is just as beautiful as their dining room. Great seasonal menu, perfect for special occasions. I especially loved their Mother's Day brunch!

What a fantastic evening. We went for the first time recently for our anniversary. The food was delicious, the service was attentive and the atmosphere was inviting. I would highly recommend The Firehouse for a special evening. And try the crab cake chilpachole! One recommendation, if you're not from the area and have no way of taking the food home with you it might be worth ordering just one order of everything and paying the extra plating charge. We had more food than we could eat and we live four hours away so it wouldn't be prudent to take the food with us. We are going to do that next time. We are going to stop in the next time we're in town and try the chef's tasting meal. We just didn't have the time to do that and make it to our play.

Made reservations thru Open Table for New Year's Eve, but was not made aware of the special menu they provide for $125 PER PERSON. With the four of us, the tab came to over $500 ( NO wine or drinks purchased). While the menu felt elegant (4-course meal) the limited choices from each category left us making our selections based on what most likely wouldn't have dairy in it. No substitutions allowed, and we have restricted dietary needs. Overall, for the kind of money spent, we should have enjoyed our experience, and proclaimed the meal to be the "Best we've ever eaten" HOWEVER, it was really just "so-so". Not the pop of mouthwatering flavor you would expect from such fancy, plated meals. Picture-perfect, but lacking in flavor and texture. The desserts looked wonderful, but we couldn't eat them because of our dairy restrictions. Gave them to the kids!

Exceptional restaurant in all aspects. Fine dining at its best. Appetizer, entree and dessert were excellent. Ingredients and preparation superb. Service was perfectly timed to enhance my experience.
I highly recommend it! I never have a bad experience at The Firehouse Restaurant, 1112 2nd St, Sacramento, CA 95814

Excellent menu and food. Hats off to the chef for his creativity and presentation. Wonderful atmosphere and elegant decor, but casual attire acceptable. Professional service. The very best dining experience we had in CA.

Quote of that evening from our waitress :"I hope you have a nicer meal somewhere else..." this summed up our entire evening which started out with a Tomato Mozarella dish where the Mozarella initially was not even on the plate and after sending it back there were a few small chunks on the plate, however they were impossible to see underneath the huge chunks of unprofessionally cleaned tomtoes on the plate. Another starter was chosen which was not that bad, but the main course did not meet expectations either as the fish was very bland and unseasoned and the vegetables only served as decorations on the meat dishes. The worst however was the service as even when the manager was sent to our table, he seemed very defensive and delusional. They seemed not wanting to except their faults and it felt like they wanted to argue with the customer as if he wasn't right. This place certainly needs some lessons in waiting tables, organizing their restaurant, leadership is completely lacking and the chef might need to get some more training before becoming head chef. In a restaurant at that level which wants to be considered fine dining, a lot is still missing. Very disappointed.

Probably the best filet I've had. I added truffle butter and couldn't have been happier with the dish! The wait staff were professional, friendly, and courteous. Small and well done menu, and a huge selection of wine. A bit pricey, but I'm definitely going back. The risotto served with the salmon was also incredibly flavorful.

I loved my experience in this grandiose restaurant located in the heart of old town. I ordered the foie gras and the carpaccio to start. The carpaccio was the best I've ever had. The foie gras was so soft and tender, it literally melted in your mouth. We also ordered the butter lettuce and blue cheese salad, which was electric and outstanding in every aspect. For entrees we ordered the rack of lamb and the delmonico beef. The lamb was cooked perfectly and stole the show. My husband ordered two specialty cocktails, which he didn't really like, but were made nicely. Wine here is expensive. Plan on spending at least 300 dollars without a tip, but still a great restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. Oh... and the service? Well, it's so good, you may never want to eat anywhere else again.

Outstanding & Amazing all in one! The decor had me feeling like I was in a whole other era. Classy & Cozy was the ambiance. Our waitress was a jewel The porkchop was to die for perfectly cooked the apple sauce it came in was divine tasted super fresh. The wine selection was on point. Plus they had Creme Brulee always winning with that, their coffee was also good. Definitely a must try for the list.

Took my wife to this restaurant for our anniversary. The service, atmosphere and food were superb. The staff went the extra mile to ensure the best experience possible. We ordered the wild mushroom risotto and ahi tuna; both were marvelous. I was not disappointed. I recommend this place hands down.
