Very good place for bar lunch. Weather permitting you can eat outside on the deck with wonderful view of Arran mountains. Be warned that popularity may mean customers have to wait a few minutes for your meal. Quality of food is very good with much use made of local produce.

We found the Douglas to be exceptional in every way. Attention to detail carried over from the superb meals to the well appointed rooms to the friendly staff. We could not have asked for a more comfortable satiating stay.

Poor hospitality! Incompetent staff with the wrong attitude towards service. Absolute lack of courtesy and respect to the customer. Empty brasserie but they could not serve dinner! We have not spent anymore time or money at this establishment. Not recommended!

The actual on ground staff are lovely and professional a pleasure to be looked after by them. The management a little greedy. I recently brought guests to Brodick for my wedding. We put up many of our guests in the Douglas and from that came meals and bar tabs. I originally approached the Douglas six months before (in January 2019) to see if we could get a wedding party reduction, they refused. We still took many rooms in the Douglas (around 9 I think) as it was convenient to the ferry terminal and some of our guests did not come to Arran with a car. Some of our party (3 rooms) had to leave early due to impending ferry cancellations, initially told we would get a credit for unused time, then subsequently told no credits were available as the rooms were either booked on Expedia or the parties checked out too late. Interestingly .. we heard while passing reception that once our guests had checked out the rooms were made available for new bookings.. We took around 9 rooms that weekend and as I said before had meals and bar tabs. The hotel, to celebrate our marriage, posted a small card with a duck on it in our room congratulating us. Ground staff 5*; management 2/3*

Staff not overly friendly. The food was unfortunately very predictable ( large blackboard, lots of choices, in my opinion normally means reduced quality and the food becomes just another deliverable) never the less it was hot and filled a hungry, empty stomach. It just doesn't sit well once eaten. Large crowds may not have helped with regards to the staff friendliness, but perhaps I am looking to deep!

Lovely staff, rooms and location. Kids were welcome despite it definitely not being a kid focused hotel like Auchrannie. Breakfast was lovely, good bar food (didn't eat in the restaurant) and where decided to go back later this month it was so relaxing.

Niche hotel, understated elegance and calming decor. Ideal for couples. Food is excellent. Service is good. The welcome is warm. A short walk to the ferry terminal. Recommended and I hope to visit again in the future.

It looks like a reasonable hotel and is certainly a decent bar with food. We didn't try the dedicated restaurant. The bar menu was varied but, like most of the island, a little over-priced

We stopped for a meal before we caught the ferry back to the mainland
My wife ordered salmon and I had medium sized mussels
My wife's meal was very nice and the service and restaurant were very nice.
Unfortunately my mussels were off
I was gagging after eating the 5th one
I then investigated and found 7 closed ones and a couple of mushy ones
I raised it with the waiter who was a lovely chap and very apologetic
He offered to replace them but I had been put off and felt sick!

Beautiful hotel, went in for a dinner. We had our dog with us so went to the bar, where they serve food. Staff very friendly (to people and dogs alike). Bar had a jar full of doggy biscuits for free. Food very good, will come back next time we're in Arran again.

Great wee place, staff friendly and good selection tons of beers/ whiskeys. Looks like it's not long been done up. Impressive menu selection, didn't stay over this time but considering for the summer.

Really solid choice when you're overnighting on the Isle of Arran. We loved how close they are to the ferry and how delicious the food was. Perhaps the only thing we would have loved to see more of, was parking! It got a bit crowded and we had to park, with the hotel's permission, in the handicap spot.

Just took part in the Douglas Dook, a hundred odd other lunatics gather at the Douglas, sign indemnity forms that you might die and if so, it's your own fault for being a maniac, then strip down to our trunks and dive in the sea! What an awesome start to the New Year! Couldn't recommend it enough!

Visited there are stranded because ferry cancelled. Staff were run off their feet but worked quickly and tirelessly to help an influx of customer. Had a lovely curry for dinner. Would highly recommend.

The hotel is directly across from the ferry terminal in Brodick so no need for a car. Remember to book the bistro for dinner add it gets busy quick. We stayed in the room at the top of the hotel with the balcony. It was a lovely big room and huge bathroom. We had a great stay. The staff are so friendly and attentive. There was live music in the bar and a quiet residents lounge will be recommending it to everyone going to Arran.

The Douglas bistro is a pet friendly bar/restaurant.
There are big tables and comfortable seats with a low warm lighting.
We ordered the shared camembert to start. This was roasted perfectly and the cheese itself was good however was slightly salty but went well with the cranberry chutney.
We then proceeded to order the trio of Salmon and the halloumi fries. The trio of salmon came with a refreshing citrus mayo and crispy caper sauce. The salmon was by far the tastiest of all the things we had ordered.
The halloumi fries arrived sprinkled with pine nuts and ginger dressing which set off the against the halloumi cheese.
Lastly the chicken burger of the day. Lemon grass, thyme and honey with a side of sea salt chips. This portion was not the biggest and the brioche bun was a little crisp, however the chicken was perfectly seasoned and was seared to lock in the flavours but still juicy and tender in the inside.
