I use to go to The Door when I was 12 years old and older with my brother and our friends. When I was their I always had a blast of a time. The counselors at that time were excellent. They really cared about people. The Door had great activities like pottery & art shows medical and programs like manpower and other programs for women too. When I was Their I became the store girl I sold snacks on the main level.I enjoyed playing basketball their on basement level, medical was excellent and private loved it!And mind you this was in the early 90's! Lol,smh the good ol days!At that time they also help people get there G.E.D diploma but......I have my High school diploma. I'm just grateful to have experienced the door in my life and wouldn't mind my children going in the near future God bless all!

I worked at The Door for a few weeks before I decided to place my 2 weeks notice I refuse to be under the leadership of a CEO that does not truly care about the mission of this organization. The employees are not happy. The CEO walks around calling employees "kid" instead of addressing them by their name.

How could we care about the children of tomorrow when you do not even engage with them. His main focus has been to collect donations.
Truly saddens me.

If I could give a lower review, I would. This place is only good for the money they throw for their Christmas party. They're not organized, knowledgeable, or courteous. Do not go here if you value your time, because they do not provide the actual services they state. The staff are not educated on the matters of the homeless and lgbtq communities, and furthermore, you are constantly monitored in the facility.

When I was 17 this program helped me so much! I learned a great skill that turned into a career, gave me free medical care, great food, and also valuable free legal guidance. I don't know what I would have done without this program living on my own at such a young age. I wish every city had something this amazing! This place and all the contributors / have a very special place in my heart. I went from feeling all alone and hopeless to motivated and cared about. Love you guys, please don't ever stop this program :-)

I understand that they do a lot of good for the community -- but they could hire more intelligent staff.

It says "serving ages 16-24" very clearly on their website. When I came, after hour of commute as a 24 year old, they refused my service.

I had to argue with their, presumably educated staff, the literal definition of "16-24". My goodness, they still didn't understand.

Sadly, if you go here to try and get your GED.. Don't ! I was a student here just trying to better myself and further my education, but yet was punished for it. I passed all my classes came in did what I had to do and leave. While I was there I was mocked by the supervisor she was disrespectful and gave me a hard time when I needed help and at times it was like I was not even allowed to have a bad day or I was threatened to be kicked out of the program. I got along well with my teacher the students and a counselor who wasn't even mine cause the counselor I had was rude as hell anyways it was a horrible experience but I stuck through it. I had to leave because I moved and found out I was pregnant. When I tried to reach out a few months later I didn't get so much as a text back from the supervisor she didn't acknowledge my effort to try and do the right things only when I did something she did not like. This place is supposed to have people who want to help not turn their backs when you need help but it's okay I'm enrolled now into a ged class and almost ready to take my test . I will never come here for anything ever again

In my personal experience, and with information provided by those close to me, they do not have staff entirely equipped to handle LGBT issues, sexual harassment, stalking, and especially if the predator is a minor and the victim is an adult. They do not notify transgender people that there is a transgender bathroom. They are not size friendly with their clothing closet and do not have anything actually concrete to help homeless individuals.

The door helped me apply for college, offered free counseling, and gave me a warm meal when I first arrived to this country. I ve become a nurse now and I can t thank it enough. We need more places like this.

The door is a decent place and it all depends on which staff member you work with. I had a horrible experience with one of the receptionist, she would be very rude towards me. The dentist straight up lied to me about not having any cavities. However, my primary doctor here is great at what she does. The therapist wasn t too bad either.
