Atmosphere is amazing. It feels like you enter into different era. The food is delicious, the Kings onion soup is a must try.

Very nice place to go for drinks and food! It was a bit crowded but worth the wait! On Saturday it closed to early so i was a bit disappointed!
I love their food. Top notch service and prices are great only downfall is it is very small. Worth putting up with, because the charm and history more than make up for it.
My husband and I went to dinner for our wedding anniversary as we have done on other occasions. This is our favorite restaurant in Gettysburg, PA. The food and the service were excellent as always.
Wonderful atmosphere, great food, fun service, and good company
Amazing building and vibes...very historic. Food seemed more like dinner food than colonial American. Favorite place but not food.
Cozy, quaint Civil war era inn with quality food and drink.
We dined in the tavern part and it's such a cool experience. All the staff dresses up like it's the 1800's, and the food was also very good
We absolutely love the atmosphere and the terrific food .There is usually a waiting line but it moves rather quickly. We go there about 4 times per year. Always a great time!!!
Had a wonderful meal at the Historic Dobbin House. Great atmosphere and loved visiting the museum upstairs.
Food was perfectly prepared and the holiday decorations were beautiful.
Absolute best french onion soup you can get anywhere! Awesome civil war era tavern downstairs that can be very romantic. One of my absolute favorite places to eat.
We were in Gettysburg for our anniversary. We chose Dobbin House restaurant to have our anniversary dinner. It was awesome ! Excellent atmosphere, food and waitstaff. We'll be back next year.
Atmosphere by the bucket load, food great. Just put them on your must goto list!!!
Food was great. A lot of things I wanted to try and settled for the spot roasted chicken. It wears fantastic. We were in the downstairs area which is very cozy and inviting. When you are looking for a nice place in Gettysburg go to the Dobbin House.
This was a very unique restaurant with wonderful food
This is the oldest building in gettysburg we caught something really cool in the window can you see it?
This place is perfect for that civil war old timey food. It is always tasty, and always has good service. Any time we have family visiting from out of town, we bring them here.
my family and I came here with friends, the food is amazing and the historical part of it is very interesting. we ordered some burgers and they made them to order not over done. also my wife says the french onion soup was the best made hands down. i am a big cook and they exceeded my expectations! afterwards we walked through the history of the building. staff is very nice, and the place was a quiet environment.
the only downfall is the prices are pretty high. the 4 of us had a hefty bill but was expected when we ordered.
The meal was great and Beth was a very pleasant and efficient server.
Great! A lot of Civil War history, delicious French Onion soup!
Nice we spent a pleasant time very good food great services
Treat yourself to old historic cottages instead of a hotel room...
Nice historical place to visit with a tour group. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. And the gift shop is nice, too!!
Website says you do not have to have a reservation to eat in the Dobbin house so my family stood in line to eat when they opened at 5pm. When we got inside, the hostess seemed confused that we didn't have a reservation and told us she could get us in at 7pm or we could eat at the tavern but they have a different menu. We decided to eat in their outside dining area that uses the same menu as the tavern. My wife and I both agreed it was one of the worst meals we have ever had and my son wouldn't even touch his food. The service outside was great but if you want good food this is not the place.
This place is as authentic as it will ever get! I absolutely adored how much they tried and succeeded in making it feel and look like the 1770 s! I had lunch at the Springhouse tavern and ordered the NY Steak that came with a salad and baked potato. It was all delicious! I would love to come back for dinner at the bedroom! I would recommend!!!
This is a family favorite!! We love the friendly staff and the food is time period appropriate. The setting just adds to the fun!
The most amazing thing about this establishment is it's truly historical as soon as you walk in the doorway and walk down the wooden stairs and stone walls and enter into a tavern that came out of a historical movie! Servers were all dressed in traditional era garb as well. Food was reasonably priced and was of good quality.
The experience here sets you back to the colonial era. We opted for the main dining area, and enjoyed the peaceful setting. The menu is basic and well-prepared. Don't miss the small, well-appointed (and free) museum upstairs. There are some gems. Be sure to notice the slave hideaway going upstairs, a reminder that this restaurant was a stop on the Underground Railroad
Ribs are pricey (27.95) but i comes with baked potato a side and something else
One of my favorite places in GB for around 12 years. Never a bad meal. The French onion soup seems to have lost something lately though.
I had the Filet Mignon with a Crab Cake, a salad and 2 beers. The Salad was good, the Filet came out perfectly cooked, to my request. I didn t get the crab cake, however, the waitress, once I told her about the crab cake, quickly fixed the error AND gave me another beer on the house! Excellent service and very quick response to the error!
Well Done! Highly recommended!
Nice dining atmosphere steak and lobster was awesome
The food was not good at all. You'd be better off going to a grocery store and buying sandwich meat and bread.
We visited as part of the Victorian Christmas event so we didn't get to experience a lot of what they have to offer. But what we did see was very nice and clean. The staff was incredibly friendly and they had free gingerbread cookie decorating for the kids.
Hopefully one day we'll make it back to check things out in more depth.
We ate in the Tavern downstairs. The French onion soup and the crab cake sandwich were awesome. Such a wonderful historic place!!
Our visit to the Dobbin House Tavern was very pleasant. The staff is dressed in attire from colonial times and they are super friendly.
Because this is a touristy place is hard to get a table so you may have to wait a while.
The ambiance is unique, cozy, warm and loud. We first ordered the Onion soup and the soup of the day which was chicken noodles both were delicious. The menu is casual they have soups, salads and sandwiches to choose from to be honest the food was not memorable but the ambiance was. The ginger bread with lemon sauce was awful but the waitress warned us that either you love it or you hate it and we did not love it.
I recommend this place for the ambiance but the food is just Ok.
Fun to eat in a restaurant built in the 1700s. Good food!
The restaurant was crowded and extremely tight. Our server welcomed us with a nice "what do you want." Slammed our drinks on the table and walked away. Waited a half hour before even being acknowledged again. I understand that it was busy but the service was extremely poor.
Exceptional food! Quaint colonial atmosphere! Excellent service! Highly recommended!
Food taste horrible only good thing is the bread balls mean workers not clean very dirty reuse food plates where sticky and dirty chair broke and the toilet was never flushed table only had 2 legs the front door had a wooden brick that fell on my head had ice in there orange water water was rusty spoon was dirty the goblin worker ate my fork
Went with a large group and dined outside to avoid the mask situation. Food was great...everyone had something different and no complaints from.anyone.
An excellent restaurant in Historic Gettysburg! Although it was my first visit and they couldn't accommodate us inside due to Covid-19 restrictions, they had a big tent set up outside and it was a beautiful day. I know it's hard on restaurants now and many are trying to survive; I certainly hope the Dobbin House is one that does. Anyway, I started by ordering a Gettysburg Mule, which was perfectly mixed and smooth, followed by the King's Onion Soup - it was very good; but, it's a little different from French Onion Soup (it has beef in it and the flavor isn't quite the same). The salad was chilled and crispy, just the way I like it, and it was served with an excellent bread basket that included cranberry bread and chocolate CHIP muffins. The bread was fresh and delicious. Then I had a filet with a crab cake. The filet was tender and flavorful on its own - no steak sauce needed; the crab cake was quite good as well (I asked for cocktail sauce rather than tartar sauce). Finally, I ended the meal with a piece of pecan pie ala mode. Everything was great and made for a nice ending to our day after visiting Seminary Ridge Museum. If you've never been there, I would highly recommend the museum as well. It was very interesting.
Lovely place for our senior adult GROUP to visit. Lauren was delightful and attentive to arrange our us while being attentive to the demands of COVID related regulations.
Best French onion soup EVER!!!! Great friendly staff. Usually busy.
This is our third time to Gettysburg and the Dobbin House is our favourite place for lunch. The food, the service and the atmosphere are all first rate! We love the Colonial authenticity of the downstairs dining room and we will recommend it to anyone.
We ate in the Springhouse Tavern. The place has an amazing decor, the food was good and reasonably priced and the service was friendly but a bit overworked.
The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. Highly recommend.
Ambiance and waitress - great. Having to saw your filet mignon with a serrated knife - not great. The half I ate was terrible, I couldn't even chew it.
Great historical venue with excellent food and service.
Great service and food served in an old homestead built in 1776. The staff Ware piriod clothing. Bed and breakfast was great also centrally located
Great atmosphere and food. Try the french onion soup.
Service was excellent. The atmosphere was straight out of colonial times. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Fun, historic restaurant. Really cramped seating in the tavern, though. Try to beat any tour buses.
We were in the pub, place seemed seemed unorganized, waitress was ok.
Delightful place to stay and the food was good.
I also very much enjoyed the atmosphere and old time tavern feeling.
I also recall them have a decent beer selection, which I did not anticipate.
Took my grandson there for his first time and had his first bottle of soda. We always have a good time. The place is so friendly and food is amazing
Delicious food, awesome service, great setting and good prices! Highly recommend
This place was amazing!! Great atmosphire, good and people.
Found this place on Google after visiting Gettysburg. We sat outside, getting a table almost immediately on a Friday around two pm. It was hot and humid but overcast and threatening rain, so it was really nice to have the gazebo overhead. I also appreciate that the dishes are brought out with plate covers to keep them warm and pest-free. The server was a friendly, helpful young man. The famous French onion soup did not disappoint! The gingerbread was okay, not sure the lemon curd is a great flavor combo, but overall a wonderful experience and lovely afternoon
Food was delicious five stars, service three stars. Catch of the day (tuna and grilled veggies) and Shrimps stuffed with crab cakes were awesome!
The food at Dobbin House was amazing. The steaks and seafood dishes were excellent. The french onion soup was not to be missed!
Repeat visitor over the years...always outstanding food and service. Don't miss this place.
Great atmosphere and food. The New England Clam Chowder is amazing. Their seafood dishes are impressive. Had the crab cake and drunken scallops. It's super busy here so don't expect just to drop in!
Delicious. Food was yummy. Great service. Historic building. Outdoor, socially distanced seating!
