I attended a fundraiser at the Renaissance hotel and thought the venue was nice. The space was divided into two main areas; one with a bar, hors d'oeuvres, and items available for bid in a silent auction and the other set up for dinner and award presentation. The bar area was a bit small for all guests to mingle and get a look at auction items, and the dinner area was configured a bit oddly (some tables didn't have a good vantage point for watching speakers/awards). The decor is modern and the staff are outstanding, so overall it was a lovely place for an event.

I've stayed at Mariott Courtyard that are better than this hotel. The staff seemed inconsistent. We arrived early and asked for early check in but no rooms were available which was alright. Even though there were no customers that we saw on any of the floors or the lobby. We walked back to our car and received a call that there was a room all of a sudden. The ipad next to the bed didnt seem to work properly. The day of the check-out we went for breakfast and were coming back to our room but none of the keys worked. This was 2 hours prior to the check out time. We went back to the lobby and our keys had to be reactivated but there was no apology of any sort from the staff. For a hotel that's supposed to be more "luxurious" I kind of expected more. If the staff was properly trained then maybe our experience would be better.

My favorite place to stay in Allentown! I have to come here for work fairly frequently. It is so far the best place I have stayed in Allentown and one of my favorite Marriott properties. There is a good restaurant (The Dime) within the building. Breakfast there was included in my stay, and had a very good spread. My favorite part is the rooms. The rooms on the East side of the building look out over the city. They have a lot of natural light with big windows with a couch right next to them, perfect spot to hang out or work. The gym is better than most. The location is... interesting. The block surrounding the monument is nice, new and clean. Queen City BBQ right across the street has great food. However anything past that block is a bit more rough. One day walking around I was asked for money around 3 separate times. Whenever I come to Allentown I love staying here.

Disappointing. My party called ahead to ensure early check-in to get ready for a wedding shuttle. Our room wasn't ready, and after a half an hour of waiting, we used the groom's room to dress. The staff was very polite and apologetic. Valet was quick to get our car, but this wasn't the same for some in our party. I think they needed more staff for a very busy weekend.

Service was friendly, the room was very clean, and the on-site restaurant had tasty food. Hot water was hot, there weren't any funny smells, and the bed had plenty of pillows. I was there for work and the staff was very accommodating about holding a bag and making parking arrangements the day I checked out. The interior is pretty and has a modern, sleek look.

Hotel is right next door to the PPL. It served it purpose. There is a charge to park at this hotel. The city of ALLENTOWN extended the parking meters until 10 pm every day except Sunday so there's no way around it unless you check in on a SUNDAY and check out prior to 8 am Monday morning. If you aRe attending a ppl center even and need a close hotel, this location is good for you.

Very new posh hotel, good size room and comfy clean bed. The minimalist style decoration looks great and bathroom is quite pretty. Plenty of parking space in the garage or on the streets.

Friendly staff and wonderful location of Allentown. Seems to be at the center of the town. Will definitely book again if travel around the area.

Arrived at 6 for check in. Was told room was not ready. And that it would be about 20 minutes. Well an hour later after going back to the desk it was ready. Very disappointed with waiting for a room when it was already 6 pm. The rooms were nice. The food was good. And the rest of the experience was pleasant.

Was with Dan McDevitt when valet stole money from our center consol. Very unhappy with how management is just passing the buck on the situation, pretty embarrassing. How safe do you think your possessions are in their rooms? Would never stay here. (Especially with management not stepping up or taking responsibility). One time I had $1,000 taken out of a safe at a 5 star hotel and they replaced it and went out of their way to make things right.

Awful Awful service! The hotel has no idea what they are doing. We booked for 4 people and they put us in a room with ONE BED! Then they overcharged me THEN they said they took off the overcharge, just checked my statement and they DOUBLE charged me. Oh yeah they also ran out of towel. The hotel is pretty but the service is so terrible I would rather stay at a motel.

POS Hotel. It is supposed to be a "Service" industry, well forget about that here. The manager "Brayden" loves the "rules" so much that he could not make a small accommodation and supply a room with a roll out bed, even though they were be available and my reservation was for two. But I my company booked though a 3rd party, so no chance. I'm a rewards member as well, it means nothing. I will NEVER stay here again and I have notified the company to NEVER book hiit again.

Staying at the Renaissance Allentown Hotel was the...

Staying at the Renaissance Allentown Hotel was the worst hotel experience of my life.

Almost every staff member acted in a manner that was unprofessional not befitting a 4-star hotel, and not remotely worth the price paid.

From the valets, to the desk check-in attendant it was off to a bad start. I've stayed at hotels from lesser brands with more competent staff. The valet attendant made a comment about how thankfully my wife doesn't have a hard to pronounce last name. Xenophobic much? The check-in attendant was more interested in telling us about BonVoy (whatever that is) instead of telling us information about the hotel. We had to Google the checkout time in the morning because it wasn't told to us at check-in and wasn't in the room anywhere.

The design of the hotel was bizarre, like someone went to HomeGoods and picked up a bunch of random stuff from the clearance section. The room was equally bizarre, but the bed was at least comfortable. The towels, though, were terrible. Extremely thin and not absorbent, they were actually painful to dry myself with.

After the wedding we attended was over, a bunch of us went to the bar at the hotel for drinks. There were 3 different wedding parties staying at the hotel that night and they thought it was sufficient to have 2 bartenders? And while I feel for the bartenders, its not a good for the hotel if the bartenders get angry at customers for wanting to order a few drinks for the group, as happened to my wife.

Room service the next day wasn't great either. They put us on hold for 10 minutes until we hung up and called back. They forgot part of our order, didn't have regular bagels and replaced them with two mini bagels (one plain and one everything) without asking when I had originally asked for a plain bagel.

The icing on the cake was when we went to pick up our rental car and the valet attendant said a valet driver had backed the rental into a box on the wall and damaged the rear bumper. Thankfully they gave us paperwork and it seems like the company will pay, but now we're stuck with hours of calls and paperwork to deal with for something that we didn't do.

Thanks Renaissance Allentown for almost ruining my weekend. The wedding was a lot of fun, but not at all thanks to this hotel.

Upscale hotel in downtown Allentown. Walking distance to be area restaurants and shopping. Super friendly staff. Only drawback is noise level. Depending on the room you might hear the street, people walking to their room, or the TV next door. Otherwise really nice place to stay!

The hotel was beautiful and extremely well kept. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It was easy to access the arena attached for the event we went to as well. Only room for improvement would be better directional signage when entering from different locations of the building.

Brand new building. Too modern and unfriendly with terrible housekeeping, which not only did a terrible job but came in with an attitude.
Houseman Dante was the only person who truly went out of his way to make up for his team. He made great suggestions based on my needs.
The front desk staff was always defensive, unwelcoming and didn't do much for my group. Apologies were not their priority and neither was any customer service concerns we had.
You need a key card to enter the hallways and it must be kept by a door slot to turn on the light and heating systems.
Horrible bathroom pocket doors with no locks.
Unfriendly lobby with no bathroom or garbage cans. However there was a pleasant Messani/Library level that was secluded.
We had a hospitality room set up in a conference room on third floor, since they didn't have microwaves, but in a week we spent there, it was never cleaned, a TV that had no volume and not a piece of silverware or napkin anywhere. No hospitality there!

We had to pay $300 for a room for a 1 night stay, $10 to park as they do not validate, and even more money for breakfast as it is not included in your stay- not even a danish. A bottle of water in your room will cost you $5. Not to mention our TV did not work. Very disappointing.

I fell in love with this hotel when I visited the area again last week. The front desk staff was especially friendly and out going. They even called me after I checked in to make sure everything met my expectations. Yes it did! I'll be back for my annual Christmas visit. My new favorite place to stay!

Summary: Blood on towel, but understanding front desk managers.

I walked in here as it was in close proximity to the office I was working out of for a project. From the outside, this hotel looked very classy. The door staff were friendly and the front desk managers, provided me with, on request, a king bedroom, having notified me that it had a disability shower. The interiors at the lobby didn't disappoint either, nor did knowing that the stay gave me free access to a rather large gym in the adjoining building.

Based on the experience thus far, feeling rather uppity about my terrific choice in a hotel, I checked into my room on that fateful Monday of June 25th, 2018.

Shortly after checking to my room, once I was done showering, I decided to pick up one of the fresh towels, and plunge my face into it. However, approximately six seconds later, along with my face, the towel had wiped off all the respect I had for this establishment, for, facing me, were dried bloodstains on the very towel I had just rubbed my face gleefully onto.

After a freak out session lasting a few seconds that included ignorantly considering the possibility of having contracted hepatitis, I decided to throw some clothes on, take a photo of the towel (attached) for future records, and run to the front desk in a state of disgust.

At the front desk, I presented the towel and narrated my experience to Adam (who I believe was the front desk manager) and an other person (whose name I unfortunately cannot recollect but likely starts with a 'P', and was the assistant front desk manager). Both were extremely understanding of the situation, handled it very seriously/professionally, and promised that the manager responsible for this would be notified at earliest.

As a compromise, I decided to continue staying at this hotel for the duration of my project. However, I couldn't let a serious health/safety concern like this pass unmentioned without amply harming my consciousness, hence the review.

Hotel is nice and within the conference center. Room is comfy. Staff is great. Would be 4 stars if Marriott would stop with the bagged and plastic room service. Not sure how they are helping the environment with all of the plastic.

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The staff was kind, and accommodating. The hotel is very modern, and has a great restaurant called Dime that serves delicious breakfast. Here's the best part, attached to this hotel is a hockey rink; which also turns into a skating rink. Great for families, honeymooners, or individuals. I look forward to booking my next trip at this hotel in the near future!

Beware before you stay or attend an event at the R...

Beware before you stay or attend an event at the Renaissance. Recently I attended a trade show and utilized their valet service. Upon receiving my car 5 hours later I discovered money missing from my center counsel. I reported this to the hotel manager on duty who then had to call his boss. I told them I would be returning the next day for the final day of my trade show and they said they would review cameras and get back to me. First I had to seek them out for an answer and secondly they said all I could do is file a police report while in the next breath lectured me on how well they know their valet employees. What burns me up the most is #1 someone rifled through my belongings #2 every interaction I had with Valet I tipped #3 managements underwhelming concern about the matter. In my experience if things go missing at the valet things go missing in the room as well. If you must attend their venue make sure all personal belongings are accounted for at all times however I would encourage all to stay away until they correct their issues.

Update 4-15-18

As you can see below the hotel management refuses to take ownership for their sub-contractors actions. Additionally when I spoke with the manager, or one of the managers, she informed me she is an employee of both the hotel and the parking company. Very surprised of how this situation is being handled, hotel must be failing...Sad.

Update 4-17-18

Still no further communication with the hotel or the valet company. Leads me to believe poor management, stay away from this hotel at all costs!

Update 4-21-18

The hotel management company still refuses to communicate with me directly in terms of reimbursing the money that was stolen under their watch. They continue to say our third party parking vendor . However you would not clearly know it s a third party upon using their services. Very poorly managed hotel, extremely embarrassing public relations.... SAD!

4-27-18

Quick update hotel management refuses to correspond with me about this and will not take responsibility for THEIR sub contractors actions. Signs of a failing hotel.... SAD!

5-6-18

Hotel management still has yet to reach out to me directly. This is a poorly run organization who has little concern over public relations. Avoid doing business with me at all costs!

5-18-18

Their director of sales and marketing called me today to ask why I kept posting on here and Facebook. I explained to him my discontent regarding that no one from any of the responsible parties has contacted me. He assured me I would be contacted before the end of business today which did not happen. I called them at 4:55 and the on staff manager said well he must ve just forgot . This is the type of follow through this company is known for, must be failing....SAD!

5-25-18

Management continues to ignore the problem. In fact they have now had their valet manager call me and accuse me of lying. I can t stress enough that this is a systemic problem within this organization. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!

6-2-18

Still no dialogue with any of the management of this business . Other than the call from their valet manager who tried to bully me into taking down my review. Again stay away at all costs, they must be failing.... SAD!

6-20-19

Still no word back from the management, I recently stayed at another Marriott brand hotel the past weekend and had a pleasant stay and nothing stolen from my personal possessions, must be a problem at only this location. SAD!

7-3-19

Still no word from anyone at the hotel or Marriott in general. Hilton is a far superior brand and has my business for life, I m sure this Marriott property is failing.... SAD!

Great hotel, All of our requests were met, king bed, high floor. Forgot my toothbrush and they rushed one up. Parking was a bit confusing and not described on their website. It ended up being free in a ramp that is connected through a tunnel, but we had to call to figure that one out. Definitely would stay again.
