Simply a beautiful place. Good food, good beer, enormous old building that is worth a visit just to see it from the inside. It's quaint and cosy.

3 levels: pub, pizzeria, restaurant. TVs tuned to latest rugby match. Decent if you want to grab a pint or chips and you're down by Tower Bridge and don't want to venture to far. Casual. Loud. Good for tourists needing to rest, grab a drink, etc.
Absolutely stunning. Highly recommended for tourists who don't want to limit themselves to the usual sightseeing, but also to londoners who want to escape the stress of the City. Sit on the porch on a sunny day and you will easily forget a good dose of your problems
Met up with a group of friends for Saturday lunch. Pizzas were good, shared a large meat fest with my partner. Service was generally good, though error on the coffee order at the end.
The restaurant is large covering three floors and includes conference rooms, party rooms and bars.
The building is fabulous, a reconstructed timber framed port warehouse. The views of Katherine docks are stunning. On warm summer day can sit out on the balcony.
Lovely pub, good beer selection, good food and excellent staff
This is such a great place to be on a sunny afternoon, pint in hand on the balcony. For this reason, make sure you go during work hours, before the crowds start after 5pm. I haven't eaten here, but the food looks and smells good. moderately priced for such a central location
Good beer, decent food and a generally nice pub. Highly recommend this place. Prices were surprisingly decent as well.
One if my favourite pubs in london to visit. Live the history about it
Pub with a great atmosphere in a pleasant location with good views over the piazza outside and the boat dock. Outside seating area for fine days and wooden balconies complete the scene. Worth a visit when you're in the area. Just a short walk from the Tower of London.
Not even worth the one star rude arrogant staff
Been here several times as I use the marina with my bost and year after year does not change disgraceful place
Beautiful exterior and good drink selection. Food is simple pub grub but tasty and good value.
Love this pub although the drinks are very expensive now.
Great pub, friendly service with competitive prices and good beer.
Large pub in a nice location looking out over the marina. It looks lovely from the outside and you'll appreciate the inside if you're Swiss or a spider. The theme they've gone for is: wood.
Nice but expensive pub at St. Katharine Docks. Worth a try
Lovely pub. Good food great atmosphere overlooking St. Katherine dock
Nice environment but limited menu options for drinks and food.
Love this place. Three floors with three different styles of food - classic pub, pizza place or classic British restaurant with a great roast.
Really attractive 'olde world' pub with great views.
Lovely place, great atmosphere and friendly staff and reasonable price!
5 star would recommend to try on a London trip
Such a shame. Pub is great. Cannot comment on food. But beers on tap are woefully looked after. Order bottles only. Really nice location and good histrionic feeling but i get the feeling the staff don't give a damn.
So sadly let down by the staff in the restaurant up stairs. After sitting there for 30mins to order, we had to go and find the restaurant staff who was too busy on her phone to do her job..and this was after the total lack of care given when we arrived and to top it off the toilets were revolting. lt wasn't even busy 3 tables including us. So lovely on the out side but I wouldn't go back again.
It's a funny old place. Always heaving with tourists and Londoners but still a great atmosphere. It was all sparkly and lit up for Xmas 2019 and very busy. I'd come here again.
After dinner drinks great atmosphere little over zealous in getting you to move on after.last orders. Toilets need updating really not that great
The place is ok, location and architecture are more impressive than the food. Barman was friendly and helpful when asked for recommendations. Food was barely ok, not bad, but nothing I'd like to have again. Would go back for drinks and views from the terraces but definitely not for a meal.
The Dickens Inn
50 St Katharine's Way, St Katharine's & Wapping, London, E1W 1UH
Tower Hill
The Dickens Inn is located in the heart of St Katharine s dock and just a few minutes walk from Tower Bridge. It s a good place to stop off for a pint after having a walk around the marina. There are also two restaurants based here, a pizzeria and a grill restaurant on the upper floors. The pub itself is a good size with oak floors and beams but it s not what you would call a traditional boozer. The best thing about my visit here was sitting outside on the deck sipping a pint and admiring the views around the marina.
Information correct on visiting 08/09/17
Really nice historic building. And great views of the docks.
Brilliant atmosphere, great selection of beers and epic location
Beautiful setting, beautiful weather but what a let down with the food I had a fish finger sandwich which was all batter about 3 teaspoons of fish, bread was so dry could not eat it. Others in my party were also extremely disappointed with there food, would not eat there again.
Something that goes along with the flow of a little gem, possibly unexpected in the middle of a world-renowned city. Beware, you may find somewhat a pale orange, yellow hue or tremble that behold destiny.
Food and drinks are a bit pricey, but a very good atmosphere in a nice setting.
Busy Friday evening but staff were friendly and attentive. Good hearty food was welcomed by us weary tourists. Great location and views and all lit up for Christmas.
Absolutely fabulous meal. Accommodated our large party with no problem. Even gave us crackers to add to our celebration and experience.
Very sweet staff who were willing to wait while our friend was late. Very attentive and not annoyed. Had the Beast size pizza which filled 5 of us to the brim really had to force it down but was too good to leave. Staff were happy to set up a birthday cake we bought in as well.
Great London pub! Really pretty and great views and vibe!
Service was very slow. Our food arrived over 45 minutes after it was ordered. It was only a steak and, and a fish and chips. The restaurant had many diners, but it was nowhere near capacity.
Good quality of food, and a very cool ambiance, being that the restaurant is located inside a very old building of heavy timber construction. Take a trip to the bathrooms in the basement. Wander down the hallway towards the "gents loo", and enjoy the quotes painted on the walls.
Also, the dessert...order the berry eton mess. It is delicious!
One of our go to places when we're in the area, we watched the Rugby, great atmosphere & friendly staff
Perfect place to eat, nice place to spend time with the family in a casual restaurant. Lovely staff! Good service! Nice view!
What can you day about The Dickens Inn? It is old (well, the fabric of the building is old even if it was only re-built here a few decades ago) good choice of restaurants and a large bar.
Love it and have done for the last 30 odd years or so.
The location of this place is amazing and when the sun is out it looks a treat. A great place to go for locals and tourists alike. Well worth a visit after going to the local sights. St Katherine's docks are something you wouldn't expect to see in central London and the Dickens Inn is a great place to get a drink here.
A good pub for drinks but avoid the restaurant : very poor quality food and we waited nearly an hour before being served (restaurant wasn t packed at all...). Won t come back for food
Great evening. Our Sicilian waiter was an absolte bonus. Lovely friendly guy with a great sense of humour.....food was good and despite how busy it was we didn't have to wait long. Thank you to our waiter whose name I can't remember. Will return one day.
Fabulous English pub in beautiful but busy St Katherine's Dock. Its a combination of tourists looking for a classic English pub and British people there for a do. Its massive. But not cheap. Beers 6 quid plus a pint. ( Its south west facing so go there in the afternoon/evening for glorious sunshine). Worth it though to have a pint in that location in the evening sun.
Very nice. Large area to reserve and tasty bar snacks
Great pub. Great vibe. Only stayed for a couple at the end of the night, but good prices for London.
Food is average, service was poor, the server actually told us to open the ketchup pouches with our mouths (IN A PANDEMIC!!). They did not clean the surface of tables between customers and tables are not positioned well for social distancing. The only good thing is the location of the pub
Beautiful exterior and setting, but bored staff serve mediocre food in a disinterested way. Plates are put down with just two words: "anything else?". Sorry to have bothered you, serving team. Atmosphere is killed by generic pop/hip hop music played through TV speakers for some reason.
It could be genuinely great, and I will be back to see if it was just an off day - no pub with this much potential can have a genuinely bad management team - but hospitality and attention to detail severely lacking.
Wow, think I need a new mortgage...
They re not very good at clearing the tables of glasses either!
A very quaint and beautiful looking place. We only had drinks, and a couple of pub eats. But this place is worth visiting just for the ambiance.
Food and service are good enough, but there was zero atmosphere in a large but near empty restaurant.
Waited more than 50 minutes to receive a hamburger. The management of this place is really poor. If you know that you are not qualified to deal with orders flow, please avoid taking orders from customers.
Grill on 2nd: dirty glass (lip t.), sweet potato over burnt, onion ring raw. Toilet dirty as hell.
Very good looking pub and decent bar selection, but incredibly slow service, bartenders also have no idea how ques work, and I saw a couple of mice running around.
Very cool pub with lots of character, but the food in the downstairs bar was very poor. Went on a Friday evening and enjoyed the atmos and beautiful pub inside but ordered the chicken burger in the downstairs bar for 12.99 and to be honest, it was like something you would get in chicken cottage, pathetic for that price! Tiny burger and small portion of fries. Enjoyed the pub and a lovely location but I cant understand how a nice place like that can serve up such laughable food!
First visit here, great venue with friendly staff. Planning on a return at some point to try out the menu, the food looked really good!
A stunning building that reminds me of an old Charles Dickens Inn. This restaurant and bar is a great place to go for tourist and anybody who wants to celebrate an event
Lovely looking pub but the moody staff and disgusting toilets really let the place down! Drinks were very expensive we were considering having dinner but after looking at the over priced menu we decided not to. Shame as it could be so much better.
Reasonable priced drinks and lovely spot to enjoy london
Always love going to The Dickens Inn. Good beer and food at reasonable prices in a lovely building in an interesting location.
Very nice place with super tasty burgers. Menu selection is quite good, mainly grilled dishes like burgers, stakes etc. Nice and pleasant service. Bit pricey but its worth of.
Nice atmosphere and so so food at a premium price that can be commanded by the location. Some of the beer was good but one was off "Oh, I thought it might be" was the reply when I complained.
Toilets are a trek away in the bowels like a Wetherspoons.
My table was very sticky. Not usually a good sign.
Bit of a tourist trap, but an unusual pub in a great location. Sitting outside is nice if you can stand the smokers. At about 9.30 the aggressive door men will usher you back inside, so not great on long summer evenings. For a more relaxing pint try the near by Cape. Thats where the locals go.
A great location for a drink. Sunny days are better, but not mandatory. Tables both inside and out, with the beer garden open until 9:45pm.
They were understaffed on a Saturday night. Was hard to get a drink because you couldn't order it yourself when the waiters were busy. This is the dining part. The room inside and out was full so it took a long time before you could be served. The fish also had a lot of bones in it. Was a bit disappointed. Toilets for the ladies was broken which was only slightly inconvenient for me but for older people would have been very hard due to the stairs they had to walk up and down to get to the next available toilet. The entrees were delicious. If they had more staff on I think they would have been alright. There was a wedding happening in the function room so I think they weren't prepared.
Visited the Grill Restaurant, food very good and at reasonable prices for a London site. Downstairs bar very busy but service was quick and efficient.
It was quite an interesting path to get here, through the St. Katherine Docks and over footbridges to the multi-story building.
It does look like there were a couple of dining areas in the building, a pub, and a grill. We were just on the pub side on the ground floor. The area was quite large and we were in the dining area with tables and chairs. You wait to be taken to a table where they have table service. We had to wave people down to get their attention to order and to get the check.
The food was alright. It was fairly standard pub fare, pizza, burgers and fish and chips. I had the pie and mash and that was alright. The pizza was a bit soggy. I'd probably come for a drink and to admire the area or building but probably not for the food. The grill might have been at a higher standard.
The dirtiest bathrooms in the world. Even by English standards. Have some self respect and clean them
Beautiful place and location. Service very low though, food...not great and cleanliness should improve
The location is all though and it worths having a pint here
We were looking for a bar in the evening for a drink and stumbled upon Dickens Inn. From the outside it looks fantastic and the inside just disappoint either.
We only stopped in for one drink but the views from the windows and balcony are amazing, nice clean bar, food looked good from what others were eating and prices were reasonable.
Poor service and nothing but American fast food. Very expensive. Would be a lot better with some good traditional English fare.
Christmas set meal was fantastic (grill bar), so decided to go again a year after for a general meal (grill bar), the food quality had gone down and staff were playing music out of their phone in the kitchen so what could have been a relaxing meal certainly was not. If your going to have an open kitchen in the restaurant area then you need to think about your customers in the restaurant. Your customers do not appreciate explicit music when eating!
Table service was quite efficient given the demand as it was quite busy in there
Very nice, historical place of the old honourable pub. - Go in, take a seat and order something worthwhile^^.
Nice pub in a wonderful setting. There is a restaurant upstairs but haven't tried it. Good place to have a drink, especially on summer evenings when you can walk around the area and end up there for a drink.
Beautiful timber building with nice views of the marina. We sat on he upper floor outside on the porch it was a lovely day to eat out side.We had a late lunch on a Tuesday and there where not many others in the restaurant. Had 10 of us in our group so food was a bit slow coming. But the service was good. The backed Camembert was really good.
The setting is amazing, and well worth a visit. Plays a bit to the tourist trade with the menu so don't expect much there. Have a drink and sit outside, its lovely.
This place is amazing.. superb ambiance great choices in drinks and very happening..it's my fav place in London to chill out and have a beer
Overpriced, cold food, only redeeming factor is the semi decent beer garden
