The girls that work at cocoabean factory were fantastic. We were a large group there for a hen party, we made 12 different flavored truffles and some more... Hen party items out of chocolate! Really fun experience would totally recommend. They also had an afternoon tea, which unfortunately I have no photos of as we ate as soon as it was put in front of us! Delicious food, and while the setting of the afternoon tea was near a soft play area, we totally forgot where we were and had so much fun! If you are down this area of Scotland definitely try it out!

Good for for kids for about hour or so then boredom sets in.scruffy staff sitting about in the public area just chatting to family members and friends instead of even attempting to look busy. Asked if my horrible looking scrambled egg had milk in they said no! I told them it shouldn't be advertised as such and it was just a chopped up fried egg .

Very disappointed that there was no visual displays to show the production of cocaine. However the chocolate factory where kids make products under the watchful eye of their parents is a good starting point for any child wishing to go in the food manufacturing industry.

Fantastic set up for kids and a well stocked cafe for both adults and children. Entry for viewing adults is free and you only pay for the children's activities. Their website gives more details on this. The indoor and outdoor play areas are great giving the kids loads to explore.

The David Coulthard museum is adjoined to the Cocoabean Chocolate Factory. I haven't been in myself, but it gives you further things to do, which may be at an additional cost?

Good place for kids but also their parents. There is indoor softplay and outdoor adventure area with a "gold mine", pirate ship, wooden dinosaur and suchlike. Good coffee and hot chocolate, fairly good cakes and OK hot and cold meals (of usual softplay standard; it's not a restaurant). For additional charge there is a chocolate-making workshop suitable for primary school age kids; parents not allowed into the workshop but can watch through the window or take the opportunity to sneak off for an undisturbed coffee. It gets very busy from late morning onwards, especially on rainy days (common in Galloway) so come early if possible.

Great day. Wee shop inside has great selection of sweets and treats. The kids can do a chocolate making class, which is good fun. Cafe inside pretty good. Play equipment outside is great and will occupy the kids for ages. Plenty of parking onsite. A good day out in Dumfries and Galloway.

Fantastic! Little one was enthralled from turning up to going home, and is so proud of the chocolate she made in the workshops. Set in lovely country side it has nice food, an amazing play area, and a stocked shop. Also has an electric car charging point, if you have need for it.

Just a bizarre way to do business.

Just a bizarre way to do business.

Went there today, fortunately on route to something else which I'm so grateful for.

No one at the main reception and no one in the shop on walking in. Okay fair enough, I'm not a demanding or needy customer but seriously. We were standing like a couple of plebs for around 10 mins wanting to buy some chocolates and nothing.

No staff acknowledged us, no one said be with you in a minute, no one came over at all.

The place wasn't even busy?

So yeah the chocolates looked great but we weren't able to buy any. Unless you have to look for a staff member and drag them to the shop.

Ended up walking out empty handed what a joke.

Won't be back, bought a bag of malteser buttons from tesco instead

Chocolate making experience is absolutely fantastic. You can't find anything similar and the teeny tots is really good value for money.
Staff are friendly and welcoming. Soft play area is also very good. Facilities outside weren't used as early in the year when visited.
Lost a star as car park NEEDS attention. Some cracking potholes which give a terrible first impression. Nobody wants to fork out for a new wheel after a family day out.... I would have also appreciated some signage so I could get to the car park easily. Was a little bemused that I could see the cocoa bean factory but not know where to park.
Parking issues aside the kids don't want to leave and it has a lovely little gift shop on site so the grown ups get to take chocolates home too. Great fun.

It was amazing! The tiny human really enjoyed getting to make her own chocolate and I was impressed with how large the chocolate things are that they made! We played for hours on the soft play unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side to check out the outdoor play area but from what I seen it was pretty large. It was nice and quiet too but I imagine during school holidays it would get pretty busy. For lunch we had the soup and sandwich deal, kids lunchbox and a sneaky piece of crispy cake. Everything was fresh and tasted homemade the cake was delicious. Can't wait till our next visit shame it's a good 90 minutes drive away!

We enjoyed our party at the Cocoabean, the children took part in a workshop and played both inside and out. The place is very clean and the food for the adults is great, tray bakes a bit pricy. The lunch box for the children was disappointing, the sandwiches seem to of been made with half sized poor quality white bread, my children are 8 and all of them turned their nose up at the sandwich and the shortbread biscuit . What could the Cocoabean do to improve, make a full sized sandwiches with a bit better quality bread and swap the shortbread biscuit for something that appeals to children like a cookie, if that pushes the lunch box price up, offer jugs of diluting juice at the table instead of prepacked juices. Would i go back, YES, would i order a lunch box again NO.

A surprisingly good experience for two child-free ...

A surprisingly good experience for two child-free grown-ups in what is essentially an indoor play park. A slightly bewildering combination of pirate and dinosaur themed play areas with the usual ball-pools, slides and tunnels but with the added bonus of a chocolate factory. We spent a happy hour filling and decorating truffles and making a chocolate lollipop. The member of staff who supervised us (my husband does need to be kept an eye on where chocolate is concerned!) was great. I was also impressed by those who were wrangling the gaggle of small children behind us and managing to make it fun while not descending into chaos. The chocolates, I'm pleased to say, were delicious.
