I have been a local for 35 years and have been going to the Clovelly Hotel forever. I have seen it swap owners and managers many times over the years What was once a vibrant, exciting pub is now a series of empty unoccupied areas..... all because of the recent appointment of unfriendly and attitude-ridden security personnel who are rude and intimidating. I observed them scrutinise people trying to come in for a drink who clearly were not intoxicated asking them how much have you had to drink clearly it is Xmas time and people are out and about BUT NOT AT THE CLOEY! So many were turned back not allowed inside. I m sure the owners of the Cloey would not be impressed with the dealings of these imbeciles. Even complaining to management on the night was to no avail as they said our hands are tied, security run the show !!!
Don t dare look like you are having a good time as you will be asked to leave....!!!
I can honestly say myself and my very large group of local friends will never ever step foot into the Clovelly hotel. I will never spend another cent in that establishment whilst the same security company is ruling the joint!

Was very excited for Sunday lunch ,but they had run out ,ordered the chicken snitizel @ $20 but was served a burnt piece of chicken that oberiserly sat in the deep fryer way too long. The food was inedible what's with the eastern suburbs everytime my friend takes his partner out for lunch and she orders the same dish we are served unacceptable food. Who ever is running the pass in the kitchen ,that dish should never of been served. Only place it should of gone was the bin ,where your passion for cooking. Set your bar higher , customer service is so important in hospitality for repeat business.

What terrible customer service!

What terrible customer service!

After arriving at the Clovelly hotel for Christmas Eve celebrations I went to the bar to order a drink.

After ordering a drink at the bar I asked to split the payment and was spoken to extremely rudely, sworn at and had our debit cards thrown at us.

Not only this but I was charged $22.00 for a $9.00 drink.

Such a great pub, great beers at a great price however...... I ordered the 'mac daddy' burger which cost $29 thinking it was going to be an epic experience ($29 for a burger)........ what I received was a dry cheese burger with an extra paddy...... my gf got a cheese burger for $13 and the only difference was that mine had an extra paddy and slice of cheese....... never been more disappointed in a burger in my life.............

great pub except for the mac daddy burger which was a f****** joke.

Good venue. Looks like recently renovated (visited in July 2017). Venue has all the mod cons, lots of space, lots of bars. Live music was good. Food was ok, nothing special though. We had a great time. It was surprisingly quiet when we were there with barely any other guests there which was strange.

If you are not wearing lyrcra or interested in hanging in those circles, you will be frowned upon and kicked out of the bar despite eating dinner and drinking two drinks each. Apparently they don t want to have more business from women that are willing to spend their money when they finally get a babysitter and a night out. Honestly, there are a million bars with better drinks and better views.

Went here for dinner. Everyone was disappointed with their food. Started off by not having the booking we had made. My meal was barely luke warm and not much of it. My husband had the smoked lamb shoulder and it was boiled and tasteless. I asked for veges with my daughters kids meal and they were covered in garlic. My mum had the lamb salad which was lucky to have 2 pieces of lamb. It was all quite expensive and everyone left hungry.

I've always liked the Clovelly, and since it's been taken over by the Moran group things have gone up a notch. Tap selection is solid, the menu is great- pub classics and a couple of nice modern dishes.

It s a mere five-minute drudge up the hill from Clovelly beach or if you prefer, it s a four-minute stroll down the hill to Clovelly beach.

Whichever way you choose, The Clovelly Hotel at the eastern end of Clovelly road is just a beer away from the beach. Read more on ChopinandMysaucepan.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and they kept playing that oh yeah song from the 80 s on repeat..followed by buzzing through all the speakers.. then more oh yeah song. I understand that you have to test the sound system but maybe don t do it when you have a beer garden full of paying customers.

The Clovelly hotel is perfect for a quiet drink or two in a relaxed sports and beach view pub. The surprisingly large venue has numerous small rooms and areas to explore. The beers include the regulars as well as some tasty boutiques. The prices are slightly higher than you might like, but this is the eastern suburbs and the venue and feel is worth it.

The clientele includes locals and sports enthusiasts as well as the odd tourist looking for a relaxed time.

It's a little difficult to get there by public transport but it's perfect for an afternoon beer in the sun or a spot of live music early on Sunday night. The pub closes at 9pm on Sunday ensuring you'll be home in time for a good night's sleep for Monday.

Nicely renovated, great location, minutes from Clovelly Beach. Room pricing on the high side, but it is Sydney after all. No breakfast at the hotel, but across the road is a nice local Cafe and parking is limited, especially if you leave and come back during a busy Friday or Saturday night. Surprisingly very quiet for a thriving hotel. I'd stay again. Photo from the cliffs, 2 mins walk down the road.

Had the Chicken Burger and it was disgusting. It was greasy and the cut of chicken was a dry pathetic piece of skinny thigh fillet. I complained to the manager in the kitchen dept. I got a heap of "I'm sorry" but no offer to refund my money

Great location but the kitchen is uneven and sometimes very overpriced for what you get. It's an OK place for a few beers with friends, but avoid the pizzas - they're really underwhelming. The beer selection is OK but they don't serve pints - only schooners and smaller. For some reason they sometimes decide to just leave the radio on rather than play music. Having to listen to radio ads and call-in shows about some random topic doesn't do much for the atmosphere.

I've been a regular to Clovelly Hotel for a few years now, and have had many wonderful experiences, including hosting my partners birthday previously which our guests enjoyed immensely. The food is consistently good, with the exception of Melbourne Cup lunch 2016 when I received a steak that was so undercooked it may as well have been 'mooing' on my plate. Drinks are good, ambience is great, and the view is exceptional. Great spot for Friday arvo drinks! My only request is that they bring back the crispy skin Salmon on a bed of Parmesan corn from the old menu! It was to die for and my partner and I were devastated when we learned it wasn't on the new menu.

Over 45 minutes waiting for fish and chips. To top it off some tables around us were getting their food 15 min after ordering and others waiting longer than us. To top it off they seemed clueless when our food would be ready. Cancelled our order and wont be back.

When there's a footy game on, you'll either love the vibrant atmosphere in this busy local pub, or want to run a mile from the crowds. At all other times, you'd come here for a relaxed dinner with other locals during the week, some trivia, or a big night out on Friday or Saturday night. It's a very social bar, with decent pub food and reasonably priced drinks.

We had a great night at The Clovelly. The rooms have been really nicely done - especially the bathrooms. Little details everywhere. The food is great pub food and the bar staff know how to mix a great drink. All of the staff were really friendly from check in to check out. We had a great time. Perfect for a weekend staycation if you're a local, and a fun part of the city with easy access to Coogee and Bronte if you are from out of town. It's just a great easy going pub.

Food here is always good, have never had a complaint about the quality, but the serving sizes could definitely be a bit more generous. Great for a weekend afternoon in summer sitting outside in the garden and enjoying a beer with friends after a day at the beach.,

If I could give zero stars I would. The pub is nice the staff is friendly but the food was the overpriced and one of the most disgusting meals I have ever ate in my life and I am not that fussy when it comes to food, but all the meals we had were complete and utter rubbish, they were that bad that I wouldn't even feed them to my dog
