While under Claremont Nursing, the facility was wonderful with my father. My father is now admitted again under the direction of Symphony and he states it is even better than it was his previous visit...

My Mom was at Symphony of Buffalo Grove for 4 1/2 years; my Dad has been there for 2 years. The entire staff has been wonderful. All have been very caring and responsive! My family and I are very happy with the care our parents have received.
If a ZERO was available to this classification of specific care (PT & OT) that's what they would deserve. Very basic at best. This is NOT the place to REHAB, find another, there are several well qualified places with true PT/OT therapists that are vested in the facility & there patients, NOT here, these are contracted therapists that clearly don't care and are just going thru the motions.
Symphony of Buffalo Grove is a Five Star nursing facility. My father needed a long-term care facility and has been there for over 2 years. The staff is very friendly, caring, and very supportive to my father's needs. The accommodations are warm and comfortable and they also provide well-balanced meals for his dietary needs. Activities are available that appeal to all residents as well. There is even a Starbucks available on the first floor for residents and visitors to enjoy. Symphony offers many amenities to make the transition as easy as possible.
My Father in law was in rehab at this facility and the care and attention he received was outstanding. Everything about this facility was top notch especially by the staff, nurses and doctors. Thank You Symphony!
My father was a patient there following a major surgery. Everyone at the facility was wonderful in caring for him and I was exceptionally satisfied in the care he received.
If there was a way of giving them a zero I would, because that's exactly what they deserve. The care received was SO SUB-PARE that I can hardly express my feelings enough. If I describe the care received one will hardly imagine it can be even close to being true. Med's necessary were either completely unavailable for me to take or explained it would take 12-24 hrs to order, or they would call my primary & ask for a substitute (when it should have been the specialist, ONLY). Promises were constantly made that were simply not kept. I was required to bath (by myself w/a full leg brace) at the sink (only) w/o being offered fresh or, at times, clean linens, no basic appropriate soaps, etc. No one qualified or otherwise assisted in any dressing, no showers offered in the three hellish days spent there. Food was always served in the room two person room (never asked to come to the dining room). The food was warm or cold; rarely the correct temperature. Repeatedly waited long periods for assistance to the bathroom (once, I called the reception (no answer twice,, twice no help in getting someone to my room). It took 35 minutes for anyone to come. This wasn't that uncommon. Nurses were never available to speak with. The administrator arrived five minutes (!) before I was to leave, & said she'd been told I was leaving, & was there anything that could be done to change my mind! What?! Medi-van arrangements were made by a social worker, told it would be $75. Fine. That is, until he came & explained it was up front - cash or ride to the other facility. They facility crew blamed me for the misunderstanding - there was no misunderstanding - period. They had the audacity to take flowers that arrived a few minutes after I left & take them to another part of the building. No one called the new facility I was going to, the florist to return them, call my husband, etc. It took six phone calls between the giver & me - four days & numerous excuses before flowers arrived from them at the new facility. Would I recommend this place - absolutely not - PERIOD. I have never been treated so poorly & hope that I never am again.
We are very pleased with the care John Nielsen received from the beginning stages with the administration through the counselors, therapists, nurses, doctors, and everyone else that helped care for John. In this uncertain world we understood the perimeters that are needed to be taken however, you made it a safe and comfortable situation for John to be healthy and his family to be able to see him. John was very happy with the care he received and would like to praise Victor, Oscar, Lindsey, and Cheryl for their exceptional care making him feel his was always in good hands. A special thank you for Melissa Dominowski with all the hard work and special care she put in helping to ensure our father was loved and felt comfortable. All though we never want to see our loved ones in these situations Symphony has surpassed all John's and his families expectations and praise everyone in the facility for what they do and the exceptional care they provide. Thank you all for what you do.
I want to share the wonderful care my mother recently received during her 2 week admission at your facility. I visited her each and every day and was so pleased with the excellent care she received. The nurses, CNAs, physical therapists and everyone else could not have been more professional, compassionate and caring to my mother. I want to especially acknowledge Kimberly in social services for all the extra help and guidance she provided. I will strongly recommend Symphony because of our very pleasant experience. Thank you.
Our brother has been a resident of Symphony of Buffalo Grove for almost 2 years and from the first day he has received the best of care with a personal touch from each member of Symphony. It gives me great comfort to know he is being taken care of like family. My thanks to each and everyone of you!
What a wonderful place. I understand the facility is a nursing home but it seems like a beautiful hotel. The staff are so helpful and great. Plus there's a Starbucks. Truly a whole package for your loved ones.
The staff is professional with the ability to be compassionate and comforting. I have spent many hours visiting my mother and my anxiety for mothers care is at ease.
Efficient, good communication, very impressed, I would trust sending any loved one there. Jessica was such a kind person who helped so much, Rebeckah in social work was amazing and Ryan in speech therapy also. Thank you symphony for the great care
Both of my parents are at the Symphony of BG rehab. The facility itself is nice: spacious rooms, gym, even Starbucks coffee (you have to pay for it). But everything else is really bad. To get a nurse to show up in the room takes 20 mins at least (when I called they told me they are understaffed). As a result, my parents had many 'toilet' accidents. A bath should be given to them twice/week, but was not until I made a stink. A gym instructor would not pay attention to my father during the physical therapy session: he would just tell him what exercise to do and leave him on his own. The gym sessions should continue for an hour, but were about 30 mins (again until I called and made a stink about it). Every step of the way you have to monitor them, because everybody is trying to cut corners as much as they can. My mom is a diabetic and there is always an issue with extra insulin administration. She can't get her insulin on time, because a nurse must call a doctor first to get an approval. Well, the doctor is not in a hurry to call back. So, it goes on and on... This place needs to get its act together or it will loose patients the way they conduct business now.
My brother is staying there for a little while so I ve visited many times. The facility is very clean. The nurses are very friendly and helpful. All in all I ve had a great experience there
The facility is nice and staff is wonderful. The PARKING is terrible for visitors. The way I see it they just dont have enough parking for the amount of patients to have visitors. I feel that if they were to have the staff park in the back and create a parking lot for them. I had to park across the street at Staples. Had to cross a very busy 2 lane road to get to see my Dad. I am in good health. If you were'nt or the weather was bad you would just want to go home if you couldnt find a parking spot. I would not recommend this place if you want to visit your loved one easily.
One Star is too many. Symphony was substandard. My father was weak and had trouble eating. We told the staff to help feed him and they wouldn't do it the majority of the time. They are inattentive. They wouldn't turn my father with regularity (he had pressures ulcers . Disorganized. Nurses are located very far from patients. Call lights often ignored for extended amounts of time. Bandages not well cleaned. Often would get calls from father for help because nurses wouldn't help or respond.
The staff is supportive when I ask for help. I have to believe they are concerned about the health of the patient. It's not an easy job by any means. However if I'm not there, he is not cleaned, hair isn't combed, food is still on his hand from the day before. He is in long term care. The doctor rarely visits. We asked to have the wax removed from his ears and it's been 4 weeks with no action. The facility turned off the heat because of two warm days during the first week of May. Three days latter the weather turns cold again (which is normal for Chicago) and they still had the AC running. They refused to turn the heat back on. Residents have to go to the dinning room with blankets on. Everyone on the 3rd floor is fragile. This is not acceptable considering the cost. $10,000 a month. There have been countless incidents since his residency, but this is the only in house dialysis facility in our area. We have no choice. It's quite sad that this corporate senior end-of-life facility puts a policy in place like no heat after May.
I wouldn t recommend my worst enemy to work at this place. I had an interview with the Human Resources guy and never even was able to meet the nursing director. I was told that he would be in contact with me but after three weeks I still had not heard anything and when I did get a hold of him he said he did not have a position bcuz of the patient acuity. I do not think the building operates well. I had to wait for the interview and several staff were openly discussing their disgust with the place. The first impression I picked up from being in this place an hour was awful.
I was there for rehab years ago, I was in my 20s, in a nursing home for rehab of my legs. There was an incident where they are so sort staffed and that the staff does not have the proper training. I ended up falling in the bathroom and breaking my neck there and the staff made it worse because they didn t even call 911 and they picked me up and put me in bed without stabilizing my neck. After a couple of hours they finally called an ambulance, but they left me there crying during that period. They then told me it was my fault I fell, even though I waited for over 20mins for someone to come help me. They said that I should have just sat in my chair and wet myself instead of going into the bathroom.
This place has an extremely poor customer service ethic. I have been trying to reach out to a particular Director for one full week not a call back whatsoever! I have even tried reaching out to staff that could get me connected and no one has reached back out. If they treat people calling for simple request this way, its a wonder how they treat their patients. They're extremely rude and unhelpful. If first impressions meant anything, this is not the place to for you.
This facility is wonderful. It runs like a well-oiled machine. Everyone one and I mean Everyone, I encountered was extremely nice and accommodating. But I would like to acknowledge one person particularly and her name is Lauren. She was AMAZING!!! This was a very difficult transition for me and my Mom but Lauren made this experience seamless. A big Thank you to Symphony of Buffalo Grove, my family and I are eternally grateful to you!
I would never recommend a facility that I would not place my own loved one but Sumphony of Buffalo Grove is not only astetically pleasing but excelling clinically. They offer a large majority of clinical services including onsite hemodialysis, wound care and pulmonary rehab just to name a few. With top of the line medical equipment, excellent nursing and highly recommended phycians Symphony of Buffalo Grove has become a true medical resort.
MY BROTHER Is here and every time i visit he seems in good spirits could be hes just happy to see Me but i will give it to the staff who really go above and beyond for my brother for all his requests
I love working at this facility as an occupational therapist. The administrator & her management team are very friendly, approachable, responsive & caring. Patient/resident satisfaction is a huge priority for everyone. Nursing staff are very knowledgeable. There are lots of services offered to patients at Symphony of Buffalo Grove, including dialysis, pulmonary rehab, restorative, activities, wound care, psychiatric support as well rehabilitation (OT, PT and speech). Therapy is offered by Select Rehabilitation & I am a proud member of that team. The facility is uplifting, clean, beautiful & remodeled. I know there are lots of factors to consider when you need to choose a skilled nursing facility for yourself or your loved ones. At Symphony of Buffalo Grove, everyone makes an effort to address all our patients needs as well as making them happy. It is all about team work with a fantastic leader leading the team. I strongly believe this facility deserves your consideration! Good luck & best wishes, RB
My uncle was at Symphony for short term rehab after a long hospital stay. I would ask him daily if everything was going well if he had any issues and he always said that everyone was treating him very good. He is a very quiet man but I saw him connect with the staff in various departments during his stay from the nurses that took care of him regularly like Ana or the therapist that he grew fond of working with such as Amy and Mary he looked forward to therapy and I believe part of it was for the connection he made with those ladies! He is a very picky when it comes to eating but he was able to find options he liked when filling out the menu. He has never been a real fan of Doctors but really seams to like the doctor he was given as his primary and he was extremely personable with him during his visits.
I called the facility several times to speak with an intake/ admissions coordinator . I was told to ask for Jessica . I left a message 4 days in a row . I never got a return phone call. I then took it upon myself on the 5th day to go to the facility to personally speak to Jessica . I filled out intake paperwork with my son in laws name on it as a potential patient . By the time we got to her office (approx 30 seconds) she stated that she had already spoken to the hospital social worker that my son-in-law was at, several days ago . She then proceeded to tell me that she cannot accept him because he has Medicaid and they do not cover the rehab part of the the stay. I then told her I heard great things about the facility and he / we had gone through heart wrenching 2wks and I wanted to do what I could to try and help him adjust to his new way of living. My son-in-law who is 43 had to have his two legs amputated at the knee . She showed no signs of emotion or empathy . I then asked her if she could talk to the manager because I was willing to self pay the additional amount for rehab Therapy . She then advised me that it would be considered double dipping because he was on Medicaid . I felt that it would be considered a gift from me (mom) . I asked her if she could verify that with her manager and to please call me with a response from her manager. She said she would . Jessica never got back to me. I have to agree with all the comments that have been made about POOR customer service at this facility . Maybe the owner should address Jessicas no phone call policy . What other calls is she not returning? Maybe potential patients that meet the criteria ?
Husband stayed there for short term rehab. Top notch rehab nursing facility! Caring, encouraging, outstanding rehab staff. Virtually all the CNA s were very proficient. Nurses were caring & professional! In-facility dialysis is why we came here from Wis. Coffee bar was a wonderful perk! Highly recommended facility! No regrets.
Wonderful place! They took excellent care of my mother, were very accommodating. Rehab staff was excellent...treated my mother with dignity and sincerity. Nursing staff was great. Joe went out of his way to make sure her needs were met. Lauren and Kimberly were kind, knowledgeable and understanding!
The staff and management of this facility are the best there is! My father was admitted after being in the critical care unit of a local hospital for 3 weeks. He had so many daily living challenges- was not walking, transferring himself to/from bed, couldn t eat food and was pretty helpless. Within 2 weeks at this facility he has progressed so much. The attentiveness of the certified nursing staff, persistence of the therapy department and care shown by the nurses is the reason he is able to come home. The Administrator of the facility visited him regularly and made sure that all of the milestone were celebrated which gave my dad the motivation to keep trying (even on his worst days). She is truly a caring and supportive person and has a team of people who will do everything to provide the best care to your family as well - the rest of it is up to the patient! I believe that we had such an amazing experience because our father felt respected and safe therefore he could focus on getting well and building strength and we (as the family) put faith in the facility to allow them to focus their energy on caring for our Dad without opposition or distraction.
Left two messages about new admissions. Not one call back. Edit: Received a call back after posting my review. When I called back the second time, I did speak with the new admissions associate, who wasn t able to answer my new admissions question. She transferred me to the activity director, who was the one who didn t call me back and has since apologized.
Wonderful experience with my family member being well cared for. Jessica was helpful, polite and knowledgeable. Rebekah was very sweet and caring. The whole staff seemed to really care and take pride in their work.
