Pizza's were amazing . Table service was pretty quick.

Definitely a quaint layout, but very well done and accommodating. Easy walking distance to historic district and York Minster as well as many pubs and restaurants. Check out the smokers' hut in the photo below.

Had a great experience at this hotel. Staffs are helpful and room are good sizes. Had a chance to look the bride suite, it's very beautiful, will return next time. Great location and secure car park. Highly recommend.

Fun unusual hotel. You need to like Winston Churchill otherwise the decor and theme will drive you crazy. Very pleasant staff.

Lovely staff, location and room. Unfortunately the air conditioning wasn't working in the room (and we felt it was too late to make a fuss about it) and the breakfast was confusing. Either quite expensive, or we misunderstood it completely. We had prepaid, paid again and got some coffee, bread and juice and a menu with other items and their own prices.

The room was amazing. Very nice food in the restaurant. Will definitely stay again.

Outstanding centrally based York Hotel. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful. I ve stayed here a few times now. Rooms are always superb. Credit to the Hotel for everything they have done to ensure everyone is safe in the Covid-19 world in 2020. The outside al fresco restaurant and bar is a great addition to the Hotel. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic location for central York, short walking distance to centre centre. Lovely rooms and just the most amazing staff- so friendly!!!

Had work Christmas dinner at the hotel for the second year running. Staff friendly and accommodating, but two separate parties crammed into one room so there was no room to move and the servers couldn't access the tables easily. Food was average at best, very overcooked potatoes. Probably will choose differently next year.

My husband and I would recommend this hotel, quiet surroundings and conveniently near to York city centre. The staff were always helpful and friendly, the breakfasts and dinners were excellent, the room/bathroom was immaculate. Very More

Lovely place really well placed for the town centre. Trendy look inside but the rooms on the website were not as good when you booked ours was a little small but still good enough for us. Great service lots if request for more milk, smoking hut outside and good parking you can leave your car till after 2pm.

The service was so slow I came in clean shaved and left with a beard. The food was to an adequate standard however the service was well below par. If you like long waits and don t fancy a big ride at Alton Towers, try dining here.

Visited as part of a Christening party. Lovely food and great service and the venue was very beautiful.

Room was okay. Reception staff was okay. Everytime we stayed the restaurant and bar staff are a let down. Horrendously slow service. The manageress-looking lady has no real desire to serve. Does not know about the drinks they serve and does not want to even try. I don't think we will come back unless just for the room. Have to say the food was always excellent and location was good

THE most amazing setting for our wedding! Friendly, helpful staff, nice little bar and a beautiful bridal suite. If you have a wedding in York, I thoroughly recommend you book the Prince of Wales Bridal Suite. It added to our wedding perfectly!

Room was tiny and the tv was placed in a ridiculous position where it was impossible to watch! Staff lovely.

We had a voucher for a bottle of wine and 2 starters, the hotel and the staff are great ,the food we had was excellent, so would definitely recommend a visit.

Beautiful classic hotel very close to the centre of York, ten minutes walk at the most. Nice bar downstairs too with a good choice of drinks. Had a night here in the very posh bridal suite

Nice beer garden to get a coffee in. Tables cleaned frequently. Very friendly and helpful staff, nice atmosphere. Bookable outdoor igloos for special occasions with heat and light.

Very noisy pipes all night, it was as though someone was in the shower constantly. Bed was very small and I'm sure it was a 3/4 Queen bed. Room was very dark with a small window in the corner.
Staff were pleasant enough. The Yorkshire lass at reception needs to slow down a bit when talking. With her accent and a mask on I found it very hard to understand her. (Not her fault).

Close to all the attractions and lovely place to stay

Lovely hotel! Rooms were really nice and spacious and we had an excellent evening meal that was really reasonably priced. Ever member of staff was super helpful as well, nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly recommend.

Vastly overpriced, room cold as the heating wasn't working. Had to wait 45 minutes for breakfast and it was cold when it arrived. Came to service the room when we were still in it, instead of waiting for us to leave they cleaned around us! Not recommended!!

Good location for exploring York, slightly out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Clean, chic rooms (if you like your decoration with a slight WWII flair!) well-provisioned for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was good too.

Friendly staff who even following C19 guidelines stop made you feel like you were visiting and they were glad you were there

Don't be fooled by the photos of the rooms! We paid for a nights stay in a "luxury" room that has a free standing in the photo, but when we arrived there was no freestanding bath and told "Thats unfortunate".

Wow,what a fantastic place to stay in. The staff definitely goes the extra mile to help you, planning trips out ,places to go and seethey are more than willing to help. Totally recommend staying here .

Very stylish hotel. Beautifully decorated room. Far more modern than we expected. Lots of wall outlets, which is very handy with two mobile phones and a tablet that need to be recharged. Diner in the restaurant was delicious. Never had chips with parmesan and truffle, but I would really like to eat that over and over again! Personnel was very friendly. Escort to our room, which was very nice. Private parking; very convenient in the towncentre of York.

Disappointing- over priced compared to others situated near by.

With the property been old would of thort the walls would of been thicker could hear other guest throughout the night.

All staff members was polite and presentable.





Shame I've had to take time and give the churchhill a poor review. But it's the truth.

Nice location and outdoor seating area. Excellent staff

The staff were lovely and the service was quick and efficient. The restaurant was pleasant and we had the best table by the window. However, when we arrived in the early evening the car park was almost full - we took the last space. I would certainly go again.

We had a very nice meal here, and the staff were kind and friendly. I was very pleased with my cheese board.

The only downside was faffing about with the Orderly app, whichever w*nker designed that should be taken out the back and shot.
1. Having double checked my order confirmation email was correct, I then noticed that it then sent another email with one of the drinks missing. Why?
2. Why do I have to scroll across a map from York to Brighton and drop a pin exactly to enter my address? Is that meant to be a sobriety test?
I've worked in IT since 1996 so I'd argue I'm reasonably experienced and it took me 15 mins to download the app, register and place an order.

Anyway, we enjoyed the evening, nice ambience and good food. Thank you.

My wife and I enjoyed a very agreeable nights stay at The Churchill (29/09/19).
We stayed in Room 106 "10 Downing Suite". On arrival we were greeted with a very warm welcome from staff members. The decor within the building has been completed to a very high standard and looks amazing. We ate in the restaurant, the menu was varied and the food excellent. A huge range of drinks available. The bed we had in our room was very comfortable indeed and little or no noise was heard to disturb us during our stay. A great atmosphere, in and around the hotel. Within a very short walk of York centre. Handy, secure and very reasonable on site car park was welcomed and used. We would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be booking again for out next York visit. 10/10. Excellent!

Great luxurious hotel the friendliest staff ive met in any hotel ive stayed in all over the world and the food was perfection. Will be back for sure.

I am just writing to say what a terrible stay we had in your wonderful hotel !

Our daughter had recommended your hotel from the website and I booked for my wife and myself to come and stay as we were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary but to be honest I have had better service in a Premier Inn.

We arrived at 12.45pm to be told our room was not ready, so what were we to do there was no suggestion of going to use the facilities or the bar and restaurant which I found unusual, no could I help with your luggage to store place away until the room was ready no, but this was no problem as I have legal tender in my wallet and we decided to go in to York centre for lunch which of course had we been invite we would of used the hotel?

After a good few hours we returned to the hotel to check in again which when the receptionist found the chap to take us to- now lets not say room as it was a dungeon, down flights of stair in to the bowels of the hotel, well this made us feel really special, 30 years of marriage to be celebrated in this pokey little dark room Nice !

Well this was not the weekend I had hoped for as the wife was quite upset but I am not one to complain but it soon became clear this was going to be a night from hell you could hear each and every person around you talking from the rooms next door or above and the dungeon we were in was quite clearly the main effluent route for the hotel as each and everyone s business came flowing over head each time the toilets were flushed around us it was horrendous and my wife felt quite ill over this.

We went out as soon as we could and I pointed out to the girl on reception that I thought the York dungeons were in town as an attraction and I did not know you could book them for the night in the hotel as I thought our room was awful but no other was offered and to be honest it would of helped if she had looked up instead of working away not really taking much note, my wife and I have a nice meal out which we were going to eat at the hotel but yet again less revenue for yourselves.

We decided to leave as soon as possible in the morning and did not stay for breakfast we ended up at a lovely little coffee shop in town who I must say made us feel more welcome than any of your staff.

I did complain about the room to the young lady in the morning who simply dismissed my complaint with a really and thanks you are fully paid up have a nice day !

It s not good enough I should of at least been directed to a more senior member of staff to listen to my complaint and in the least it should have been taken seriously.

I would of thought an establishment of your kind would welcome the income from its guests using the facilities but at no point did we get offered to use the hotel restaurant or bars or pointed in their direction



Sent this complaint to the hotel website twice and no reply or offer of an apology would not recommend !

Not at all like the Churchill/Winston on Dewsbury rd Leeds. I was very embarrassed

Booked a luxury room for my fiancee's 30th. We weren't disappointed, it has fantastic, grand decor. The staff couldn't be more helpful. It has a bar and a restaurant with a great menu, or a 10 minute walk into the centre of york with loads of places to go. Will definitely be returning here on our next visit!!

It's a very nice little hotel. Not to far from the centre of York, but far enough to be in a quiet area.
The room was lovely & clean with everything inside, you would need.
The staff is lovely & helpfull. The breakfeast is really good.
Throughout the hotel the theme is Winston Churchill, & I like it. The best bit if you are a smoker is Churchill's bunker. What a great idea, & it's nice, cosy, warm & it will keep you dry, if you need a smoke & it's raining!

Lovely place but all you hear at night is banging doors it keeps you a wake.. Wouldn't stay here again quite disappointed really

Stopped off for a quick beer on a beautiful August Saturday afternoon. Busy efficient friendly staff. Nice atmosphere, good playlist.

A nice quiet place to go. Not for youngsters. Staff are really brilliant. Would highly recommend. Five star.

Been here a few times, they've made a lot of improvements in the dining and reception areas since my last visit. Very comfortable and clean hotel
