Elegant food options and wonderful drink choices make the breathtaking views an even greater joy. Relax on the patio or around the fire. Kim was our amazing server and so friendly! Looking forward to going back for more.

Beautiful, historic, and charming. Guest rooms are comfortable and well-appointed with full array of amenities. Location is very convenient to the Cliff Walk and for any place you don't want to walk to, the bell hops are more than happy to chauffeur you in one of the hotel vehicles. Would love to return in the summertime!

My fiancee and I had a wonderful stay. We don't have a lot of money, but for a special occasion, it's worth every cent. We stayed at the rose briar room. The room came with a courtyard with a private hot tub. The room is designed to be focused on yourselves. It's so close to the beach that we went for a late-night walk. We are planning on coming back, everything was perfect.

Celebrated our anniversary here a few weeks ago and had the most AMAZING experience. We stayed in Block Island. The room was very cozy, with a fireplace and very spacious bathroom. We also had a private courtyard with a private hot tub and sauna, and a phenomenal ocean view (which you can see right from bed or the private deck)! Nothing beat watching the sunrise together.
The service was exceptional, as was the food at both The Cafe and Cara Restaurant. We did not want to leave and cannot wait to return! Thank you to everyone at The Chanler for such a great vacation! You made our anniversary one we most definitely will never forget.

My friends and I were walking on the cliff walk and saw the specials being offered and thought it would be a great quick snack. Upon our arrival for the Pb&j special they told us that if we wanted to sit outside we may have to order at the bar inside which was completely okay with us. We were going to do this but a server was outside and offered to take our order. This is when everything went wrong. We do not remember his name but my British friend said he had a similar accent to her own. From the start we could tell this man was going to be a rude server. At the end when it came time to pay the bill, I gave him exact change so he could keep an extra dollar for a tip. My friends had an issue with their bill as some pricing was wrong so they went in to talk with him about this with my payment as well. Statements that were given by this man implied he was superior and we were poor and not worthy of eating there. He asked my friends, when given the 67 cents, are you emptying out your piggy bank? In a condescending way. I believe this establishment is a great place with a wonderful view and even the hostess was a great and a polite person, but this man made a mockery of my friends and we fear getting this service again if we are ever to eat there for dinner in the future.

We stayed celebrating our 20 wedding anniversary. Everything from the booking, check in, service during our stay, and check out was seamless and enjoyable. The accommodations were as described on their website. The staff over exceeded our expectations and made us feel like royalty. The dining on site is phenomenal and the views are second to none. Location allows you access to beaches and exploration of Bellevue estates. The shuttle service allows easy access to shopping and dining on the wharfs. We loved our time at the Chanler.

Very impressed with the hotel. The room was everything we hoped it would be. Being restaurant owners we were looking for somewhere quiet but elegant to celebrate my birthday and we found it. The balcony overlooking the ocean was a great place to relax and the elegance of the room made it a perfect retreat for us. We will return.

Each room is a unique experience. The staff is beyond attentive and the service alone makes the experience worthwhile. While it is within walking distance of downtown Newport the hotel staff will happily offer you a ride in one of their Escalades downtown or back the hotel.

Two words: Absolutly Stunning. First we were blown away by the view; of the ocean and the Inn itself. The menu was simple, the food was delicious and surprisingly reasonably priced. Our waitress was so kind and we didn't want to leave. In fact, we didn't leave right away as we walked a couple miles of the attached Cliff Walk after lunch. Please experience this place, you won't regret it!

Booked one of the sea view rooms with its own hot tub and sauna and four poster bed. Great quiet romantic weekend getaway. Hotel is about 10 - 15 minutes walk from the main part of the town, but perfectly situated if you want to do the cliff walk. Excellent service throughout our stay and the bar and restaurant were really nice.

Stunning oceanside mansion with beautiful views. The wife and I stayed in the Victorian on the top floor. Everything was lovely. The staff was courteous and helpful. The cliff walk itself is amazing and perfect for everyone to explore.

Loved everything about this spot: Beautiful room, delicious foods, evening jazz, helpful staff, great amenities, ocean view.

We stayed in the English Tudor room, which was a travel back in time, complete with luxurious, modern fixings and finishing touches, including a jacuzzi, big/fluffy bed, duel-nozzle shower, chocolates on our pillow, s'mores for the fire pit, a gas fireplace, a comfortable couch and seating area, and opera music filling the room when we checked in.

The valet was extremely helpful with its pickup and dropoff service, which employed two Buick SUVs to take guests in and out of town. This was an extremely useful option, since hailing a cab is not an option, and we didn't want to drive everywhere.

The Spiced Pear is one of the most exquisite dining experiences I've had in a while. I had heirloom tomato soup, mushroom risotto with a quinoa base, and hand-painted chocolates for dessert, alongside the tastiest cocktails: the Spiced Pear and the French Pear.

All of this was followed by a stop in the bar area, where a live jazz band was playing classic jazz songs and seasoned couples were trotting around, enjoying their loves' company.

The stay is a bit pricey, but worth the experience. The staff pays attention to detail and makes the stay worth every penny.

I only regret that there are now 24 rooms I haven't stayed in, as they're all unique!

This is a gorgeous resort & definitely a 5 star experience, I have stayed at Castle Hill Inn in the past but they were booked. The room was huge and very well appointed. The staff and valet was super accommodating during our recent stay. Highly recommend to anyone

Outstanding! We stayed for our wedding weekend and the entire staff went above and beyond to make every moment spectacular. The Tudor and Renaissance suites were gorgeous and we were able to get beautiful photos- along with our first look on the property. We had an extraordinary meal at Cara with our family- the food was on another level and the service was out of this world. We are so thankful to the chanler and look forward to spending many anniversaries with them in the future. 5 stars are not enough. Absolutely Brilliant!

We came to Chanler, excited to get away and have some relaxing alone time. We paid $1000 per night and expected the room and service to be excellent as described in many other reviews online. The first night was a nightmare. Despite me explaining to hotel staff that we prefer a chilly room at night, they left our fireplace on while we went to the bar for a drink, and when we returned the room was scolding hot. Hotel staff tried to help but the only way to fall asleep was with the door wide open, which is dangerous and awkward. We had to sleep fully clothed. In the middle of the night the hotel turned on the porch lights, which made sleeping even more difficult. We eventually fell asleep, and the room cooled off by morning.

We spoke to the manager in the morning, explaining that we had a really bad night, exactly the opposite of the experience we paid for and expected. We were surprised to hear that she hadn t been informed of the issue already, since we told the night staff the evening before. We were also surprised when she did nothing to right the wrong, despite assuring that she would. It s okay to make a mistake, but it is all about the recovery. The Chanler did not handle the situation well, leaving us feeling deceived and mistreated.

The hotel bar and breakfast were excellent. But please think twice before paying $1000 for your room, and if you do, set your expectations appropriately. We will return to Newport but we will not be staying at the Chanler.

Stayed at The Chanler previously and was super impressed. They seemed to have raised their game. I booked a room for next week and the entire experience and staff was top flight. So looking forward to our stay, but if early indicators are on track, I am certain it will be perfect.

Just attended a Porsche event to raise funds for the boys and girls club yesterday. We stopped for lunch at The Chandler to take in the views and enjoy a glass of red. Wow! What a beautiful place. The views are breathtaking and the rooms are fabulous. You have to come and try it!
