The Chaney Household

My husband and I stayed at Chaney's House in June of 2018. The place is filled with lots of beautiful historical fixtures and charm, and it is nestled in the gates of beautiful Tahoe trees. Additionally, the Chaney's is located on the lake and they own their own private pier (our favorite part of our trip) .Gary and Laurie are a delightful older couple who have a lot to share about the history, restaurants, and sights of Tahoe. They recommended a fabulous lake restaurant called Chambers Lading. Gary made our reservation and when we arrived we were greeted as royalty. Chambers Landing sat us at their prime table, and Gary had preordered us their fried zucchini on his own dime. Gary's hospitality is top-notch. The rooms are cozy but simply charming. I loved that Gary had the fireplace and music going for us upon return of our adventure. This is not your typical resort. If you are looking for something unique stay here.

My wife and I had a delightful time. The home was beautiful and clean with a European old style charm. The innkeepers are gracious and welcoming. We give the Chaney House a double thumbs up.

Wonderful location and great people! Very accommodating and had great recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Our room was a little small, but I would definitely come back!

Been visiting Gary and Lori for over 17 years. The Chaney house is a step back to a simpler time, in old Tahoe. Service is impeccable. The open atmosphere allows you to come and go as you please, or enjoy the many ammenties. Don't miss the 5:00 wine and cheese from private stock. The dock is private and the view spectacular. If i could give it 6 stars, I would.

Great place for a Tahoe weekend. The house is so historically charming, and situated well by Homewood Ski Resort, Emerald Bay, and Eagle Falls. The private pier is a sweet place to eat your breakfast as you watch the sunrise over the lake. The rooms are cozy and comfortable with a lot of character. Gary is a wonderful host with a wide knowledge of the Tahoe area. He has recommendations for everything from hiking trails to restaurants. We come here during the holidays when charming decorations and a giant Christmas tree are up. Overall a really unique experience!

all I've ever had with Ana were magically trips but this one was extra ordinary and the host were really accommodating. I felt completely at home on their private pier playing the guitar for my wife who always made me feel as if I was playing much better than I was. It's a memory I won't forget in this life.
