We had stayed at the castle on the green in Kendal...

We had stayed at the castle on the green in Kendal the night before. A BW hotel.
We arrived at 1pm and had lunch in bar prior to check in at 2pm.
Our 5 year old daughter was complaining of pains in her ear. We went to keswick to get some medical advice.
We went to room at 3 pm and unfortunately after an hours sleep we decided to go home & checked out at 5-50pm.
We had booked db&b. We were charged an awful lot of money for the short time we were there. By the time you added on the lunch we had paid for prior to check in it was a small fortune.
We got offered a free room upgrade if we went back.
We understand the room had to be paid for. But to virtually have to pay for the dinner and breakfast also is a bit gauling. !!

Well presented hotel, reasonable prices for the lakes too. Rooms are ok and clean, bed very comfortable - we were given the accessible room for some reason so a lot of space for us.
Staff friendly on reception, as were those at breakfast. Breakfast itself was good, cold buffet selection then a range of cooked breakfasts to choose from, made with local ingredients as well.

'0' (yep that's a ZERO) star hygiene rating by Allerdale council says enough for me. I'd not set foot in the place. If they cant get basic cleanliness up to standard I'd dread to think what else is wrong with it!!! One to avoid......

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Breakfast is not fresh at all. It comes straight from the microwave! For a hotel in the Lake District I was expecting food with fresh ingredients! Dinner left a lot to be desired. It was tasteless! Again not fresh. And very overpriced.

They are very short staffed so my room was not cleaned during my stay though I requested for a clean. Short staffed even in the restaurant so expect your food to take a long time to come.
I would not be staying here again.

1.Horrible location - very far from Keswick city centre.
2. Awful breakfast - paid breakfast only includes bread, fruits, milk, cereal
and juices.
3. Small and unhygienic rooms - extremely few employees, misguiding
pictures on the websites, no air conditioning, no refrigerator, suites look
like deluxe rooms of 2 star hotels.
4. Everything closes at 9:30 pm.
5. Horrible hotel policies etc.

In conclusion, it is absurd how a hotel can charge so much despite having no positive points. it is in the middle of nowhere, taxi/uber cost to the nearest town is 20 GBP.
If you want someplace lively and close to the town/around places to visit, this place isn't for you.

Have a great day!

An exceptional stay at Castle Inn Hotel in Keswick...

An exceptional stay at Castle Inn Hotel in Keswick. The food was prepared with the greatest care and to a really high standard. The head chef took time to see us after each meal which was a great touch and made the dining experience all the more personal.
We would absolutely recommend a stay here for anyone who is looking for a five star experience.
The highlight of our stay was a freshly prepared Thai buffet by Damien (head chef).....spectacular !!
Thanks to all the friendly staff at The Castle Inn Hotel for a fantastic weekend.

This was my first time trying a Best Western prope...

This was my first time trying a Best Western property on the recommendation of family who have stayed there before. The room, situation, and bar meal were all very pleasant and, after a very long day, we turned in early in order to get a good night's sleep before going walking in the morning.
We were dead asleep when all of a sudden the lights came on in our room and a strange couple walked in. They had a key card in their hand, which had worked in our door lock, and thought they were staying in our room. We were able to eventually persuade them that their bags were not there and sent them to reception to find out what had happened.
In the morning, we addressed the issue with reception. Frankly, at first, they refused to believe us, insisting that it could not possibly have happened because only our keycard should have worked in the door.
The staff only accepted our story when it was backed up by another guest, who heard what was going on and said that she had been in the corridor right around the time the couple had entered our room and had heard some of the discussion with the front desk.
We still didn't receive any real apology or explanation, they simply kept insisting that their technology stops that from happening! As someone who travels solo a lot (this occasion I was on a girl's trip with my mam), this kind of security lapse is my worst nightmare.
I'm generally fairly forgiving of mistakes, but it was really difficult to give them a pass on this one, as no real apology was offered and the staff really didn't seem to acknowledge the severity of the issue. We asked for some follow-up to let us know that the security lapse had been properly investigated and steps taken to resolve it, but I have waited over a week and haven't received any messages. Wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt before posting a negative review, but it's clear that they don't actually see why we'd be so upset about other guests having unfettered access to our room!
