Nice hotel great location with some amazing views. Some areas of the hotel are looking tired ie conservatory and swimming pool. Food was really nice during our stay although the bar area could do with a few more quality fittings and table settings etc ie vinegar bottle looks as though it s out of the local chippy.
Our room was a standard double which was nice bathroom was nice although water pressure wasn t the best.
The hotel definitely scores the 3 stars and could get more with fairly minor changes

The staff are excellent on every occasion we found them friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is large, situated in lovely surroundings - very well suited to overnight stays or large group functions. Plenty of parking spaces are available in the grounds. The gym and pool facilities are some of the best I've seen in a hotel in this category. The rooms are a good size, clean and well equipped. Food facilities are very good, the evening restaurant menu particularly so. Free, proper high speed internet is included - very impressive! The only thing preventing a full 5 stars is that the showers are quite underpowered and the beds could be slightly more comfortable (bigger duvets especially!). Those small issues aside this is a very good hotel - we would stay here again happily.

I visited on a cold wet winters night, but the main hotel was cold and full of pans catching water. The bar was welcoming but the menu was very poor.

I did think the room was nice and I slept well. Breakfast was also fine with a bigger choice than tea. If it was a nice summer evening then it would have been a pleasure stay.

Hotel was nice and clean. Staff were polite and courteous. We had lunch which was delicious. We also had afternoon tea which was ok, although we thought expensive for what you got.
The pool was nice and warm, sauna and steam room were clean as we're the changing rooms and showers.

Breakfast was lovely with plenty of variety.
Nice location and not far from Keswick.

Comfortable accommodation. Free wifi which worked well. Food was really nice and the staff were attentive. Oscillating fan was provided in the bedroom as their is no air conditioning but the fan's noisy at night.

Not worth the price you pay, funny musty smell when looking for our room, room a bit dated and dirty stains on the carpet, tv was unwatchable as it kept freezing every few seconds tea making facilities are a joke as you get a tiny paper cup that is the size a child would use, only been in the room 10 minutes and I m so disappointed

We booked for 2 nights(5/8/20-7/8/20). The young lady on reception was pleasant enough, but thats where the positives end! The room was ok, but there were big cobwebs in all the corners. We had a paper cup and wooden stick to make a drink(no proper cups or glasses) There was no bottle of water provided either. There was no room service at all, came back to an unmade bed and the used paper cup, no replacement for that, although someone had attended to room to leave an extra quilt that I requested.

I would suggest people look elsewhere.

This hotel is soulless, and poorly lit. The public areas smell musty, and the ambient noise of machinery and frankly appalling music in the bar is intolerable. Its main benefit is its (just) walking distance from Armathwaite |Hall, where we were attending a wedding.

Had afternoon tea and spa access. The spa wasn't really a spa all though advertised as this. The facilities were a pool and sauna. The steam room and jacuzzi were not in use. We were not told about this before we entered. To access the area we had to come out of the changing rooms and go through the leisure reception area in our swimming costumes etc.... the afternoon tea was ok nothing special very bland. Wouldn't go back i'm afraid.

Well, after an amazing 3 days of beautiful weather, I have to say that the Castle Inn is one of the nicest places I have had the chance to stay. A lovely 5 min drive to the lake where there are spots to stop and take pictures. The hotel itself was brilliant. The service was top notch, and everyone from receptionist to the waiters were friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again. Thankyou Castle Inn!

Beds were very uncomfortable. Had to sleep on the floor. Black mold under tub. Rude service desk when asking for the hotel info booklet. Tried to eat dinner at The Tavern but was ignored while they rushed off to provide drinks for the onsite wedding. We were sitting at a table and it was dead. Left and spent 50 pounds at a restaurant in Cockermouth.

Waited for a good 5 minutes to be served. Gave up and left. Looked like it was lacking any atmosphere, far too generic and sterile. TV was on too loud. Sussed all that out in 5 minutes. Wouldn't bother again.

Location perfect, staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel decor very tired, in need of some TLC. Area of wall in dinning area mouldy. Bed very soft and uncomfortable. Shower took an age for hot water to get through only to find you cannot adjust temperature. Breakfast very good and dinner, although menu is limited, was cooked well. Lovely area for a base in the Lakes but we will choose a different hotel in future.

We ate in the Tavern, and didn't need to book.
Dissapointed with the level of service and food. We had the salmon which was over-pan-fried. Apart from one pleasant waitress at the end, the others did not ask how everything was. We were given a table near the door at the entrance where most people left open so we could feel a draught.

Within walking distance of Bassenthwaite lake and the zoo. We were upgraded to a huge suite. It's a quirky and clean hotel however we didn't choose to eat there. Took afternoon tea at Armathwaite Hall 10 minutes walk away.

This is a lovely hotel. I have been staying here over the last 8 weeks and stayed in many of the rooms. Each room has had amazing towels, very comfortable beds, great shower, Samsung TV, plenty of lighting. And thermostats on the radiators to control the temperature of the room. Some rooms are a little nicer than others but have had a great experience in all of them. I am staying over the next 10 weeks so will start to take some photos of the rooms I am in and hopefully can upload at a later date.

Great hotel. Excellent service. Food brilliant. My only problem on this visit was it snowed and the hotel was cut off. Otherwise, I would recommend this hotel for both business and pleasure visits.

Our room was a decent size but could do with updating. The rest of the hotel was beautiful, the staff were brilliant, polite and friendly and all the food was gorgeous. We were attending a wedding which was very well organised and ran extremely smoothly thanks to everyone involved.

Pre booked 1 night stay Saturday to Sunday. Middle of February. Check in was excellent, room easy to find as halls well signposted. Room definitely not 4 star. Just the usual brew facilities that you would find at most Travelodge or Premier Inn. Bathroom with intermittent luke warm shower and very inadequate flush on toilet. The bed was against a wall which seemed to be adjacent to either a washing machine or service lift. Constant droning througout the night. We had prebooked whi h included a three course meal. We were advised we couldn't reserve a table as this wasn't a service they offered yet, when we arrived they had several tables reserved as they had an unexpected number of diners? How? Surely if its booked someone needs to be able to count? After being seated in corner in the tavern near the kitchen door, we waited for our order to be taken. This took around 30 minutes. Starters came quite soon after as did the mains but the dessert which we had ordered at the start of the meal, took almost an hour. Not sure how long it takes to prep 3 pieces of cheese, a few grapes and 2 slices if apple, maybe its a skillset im unaware of. Breakfast, seated efficiently and given drinks. There is a breakfast buffet but i wanted the Cumberland Breakfast, there version of a full English. One tiny chipolata, a slice of black pudding, a hash brown, a tablespoon of beans, a dash of scrambled egg. 2 tops of bacon and a lukewarm tomato. If you're hungry, go elsewhere. Overall, very average and definitely not as high status as it would like to think it is. Wouldn't recommend

Had a nice relaxing stay for one night. We totally made full use of the facilities in our short stay.
Large swimming pool nice, clean and a good temperature. Theres a small sauna and a small steam room with aromatherapy vapours, really enjoyed them .
A Moderately sized gym is available,if your feeling fit? Free weights, running ,cycling and rowing machines !two of each, i think .Bench press, fly, bicep curl and tricep pull down machines.
We dined at the bar and had one of the specials, lamb fillet.
It was very nice (melted in your mouth) Head chef Damien came out from the kitchen to check we liked it and if it was cooked to our liking . We had a right good chat with us a real friendly guy.
The room was ok for the price, and the bed was comfy.
I only gave 4 stars as some areas of decor looked rather tired, but a night stay for the price

Good stay, good facilities and in short driving distance to villages, walking areas and lakes, the decor is quite outdated and it is fairly expensive for what it is, food was good but overpriced but the leisure facilities were very good

Lovely stay. Peacful setting. Food was delicious. Close to Keswick, 20 mins on the bus, which stops right at the hotel. The hotel looks like it is being updated. All public areas were great. Bedrooms will be next on the list I expect. I would recommend a break in the Lake District at this hotel.

NOT A DOG FRIENDLY HOTEL. Our dog friendly room was separate to the hotel and the only area our dog was allowed in was where there was a wooden floor - the bar and the reception lobby. This made us feel very excluded from the hotel as we could not make use of the games room, the restaurant, or even have breakfast as a family as we didn t want to leave our dog alone in the room.

Swimming pool and gym were good for the area.
Food was average, after 2 meals there we didn t have dinner at the hotel again, lamb hot pot was nice but the fish and chips was tasteless. Breakfast was inconsistent with soggy bread on the eggs benedict as the poached eggs hadn t been drained before plating up.

Staff were ok.

Arrived just after 530pm on a Tuesday and asked about dinner in the restaurant (have been a few times before and restaurant has always been open) was told the bar was doing food but nothing about why the restaurant wasn't The room was ok but could be doing with getting a couple of things fixed (toilet roll holder was broken and shower seal was coming away) and it being dusted properly
