We attended for a family meal for an anniversary. We do this every year. We booked a table for 12, staff were friendly and helpful. We all had a variety of the Sunday lunch menu. I wasn't keen on my chicken as it said it had chrizo but it didn't seem too. Food was fine for the price. We used the leisure facilities too which are nice. Big shame the hot tub doesn't work though! Would go back.

The service was excellent, room exceptionally comfortable and facilities great. We are a family of 2 adults, a 2 year old and a 1 year old, and the staff couldn't do enough to be of assistance to us. We dined at the informal bar in the evening and the food was of a very high standard; my husband would particularly recommend the fajita sizzlers, and I had the cod which was delicious. Our older daughter had the sausages which were actually a little too high quality for a youngsters palate (a little on the peppery side for her!). The only let down was the breakfast in the morning. For the full cooked I anticipated the same quality sausages from the night before, however sadly the one on the breakfast plate was of the cheap meat-paste variety, and not at all good. The portion size was meagre, bacon tasteless, and my husband's Eggs Benedict seemed to be topped with a bland beurre blanc rather than a zesty Hollandaise. This four star hotel was definitely let down by it's parting meal, and on reflection we are unlikely to return.

Nice hotel with good sized bedroom and bathroom. Lovely gardens with plenty of places to sit out. We enjoyed the food in both the restaurant and bar. Helpful and friendly staff. Sound proofing between rooms could be better.

Room and food were very good but general service could have been a little more professional. Main issue was the loud buzz on the room at night that didn't stop until 8am and ruined any sleep likely to be had. When I reported this there was little interest or ownership and the problem passed to the shift manager and then the maintenance manager. Poor poor service.

First I must say that Rachel was great. What a sweetheart. Unfortunately that was the only part of my brief stay I enjoyed. The internet was down my whole stay, which for an international traveler that isn't good. Second my room was outdated and left much to be desired. My door lock managed to stop unlocking and subsequently locked me out. 4 room keys, 3 staff and about 30+ minutes I was let back in. Breakfast was disappointing with runny eggs. Gym was good. Definitely upsetting that my only night in this beautiful countryside was spent at this contrastingly present hotel.

The hotel is situated in stunning scenery and very easy to get too. Just a few miles of the a590. Service is good at the hotel, although a little expensive.the rooms were nice but the beds I found uncomfortable. Rubber bath and shower mats really need to be considered by the owners, two people from our party nearly hurt Thier selves from slipping in the shower. But over all I had an enjoyable stay. Would stay again...

Having stayed here a few years back and had a great time we chose to stop off here for lunch when passing through the area. Unfortunately the service was appalling! We stood at the bar for at least 5 minutes with the staff wandering in and out before being served and eventually ordered 2 sandwiches. Over 40 minutes later (there was 1 other table) we were served the sandwiches with 1 portion of chips and had to wait a further 15 minutes for more chips. Needless to say we were less than impressed, half the chips were raw and the sandwiches weren't great either wouldn't waste your time going here for lunch sadly disappointed

Great staff. Friendly atmosphere. Nothing to much trouble. Good location. Food is also first class. Pool and spa are a bonus as well. Very well looked after very clean and tidy. We had the four poster room which was bigger than our downstairs at home!!
Upgraded by the very friendly and professional reception guy, he is a credit to the hotel !! Nowadays customer service has to be good to gain repeat business which is essential in this very competitive market. Highly recommend the Castle Inn Hotel. We will most certainly return in the future. Well done!

Beautiful hotel which was immaculately clean, only interacted with two staff members but they were very pleasant, tea, coffee and water available throughout the conference, food good. Already planning to return for afternoon tea.

The hotel and its staff are great. The cooked breakfast let it down. Also the crockery is overdue for a revamp. The hotel is a short distance from Keswick but in a beautiful place. I would stay again but bed only

Awful stay, old and run down, musty smell throughout the hotel. Very uncomfortable bed. Room was infested with flies and the odd wasp. Beer tasted like the pipes hadn't been cleaned for 6 months, Terrible food. Staff were pleasant. Book in the pheasant down the road, more expensive but lovely place, nice food, lovely beer and atmosphere

The restaurant staff were a bit slow and didn't actually come to our table we had to come to them despite them seeing and seating us. The burgers were very tasty and a good portion but was very pricey considering it was a burger in a hotel restaurant. Food quality was good but price and service could be better

Room was on first impressions nice on leaving my wife stripped the bed and the mattress protector was covered in stains and heavily covered in black mould, this was reported to reception and the receptionist said send in a email with pics and a report. I did and have not yet received any feedback. I have phoned several times to speak to a manager and reception are making excuses for him. I have several photos of the mattress protector and will share if anyone wants to look.
On the down side, my wife has COPD and the mold as infected her breathing and as now been prescribed steroids and antibiotics
OVERALL EXPERIENCE I WILL NOT BE RETURNING

Delightful hotel situated 7 miles out of Keswick. Garden gorgeous, hotel well looked after. Breakfast was delicious although service was a tad slow at times. Evening meals were good but hot food is only served from 6;30 onwards although sandwiches are available throughout the day. Lovely part of the country. We stayed on the hottest day on record and the fan did not cut it. No air conditioning and the hot water sometimes ran cool when taking a shower. We had a marvellous break.

Stopped overnight in late December. Not many residents but those who were there all seemed to have small, but heavy, children in Family rooms above ours, despite the staff helping with a room change within minutes of checking in due to noises of stamping feet and squeals. Not good after a 5 hour drive! That said nice setting and great for walkers.

Nice.

Lovely rooms, good pool.spa and mini gym. Bar menu very good, portions larger than you would expect. Restaurant menu lacking somehow and restaurant empty in favour of the bar....that should tell them something. Breakfast....mediocre. dry scrambled eggs, dry mushrooms, had to ask for natural yoghurt, coffee poor. Executive double bedroom is simply a double room, not sure what makes it executive!

Great hotel, very clean and tidy room, spacious and comfortable, particularly nice powerful shower (over bath) in the bright, modern bathroom. Staff gave a warm informative welcome and always happy to help. Our room had great views and was peaceful despite being above the bar, there was also no road noise. Wifi connection fast and stable. It's in a convenient scenic location, only 10min drive to Keswick. The hotel entrance is away from the main road and seperate to the bar/restaurant which is a nice touch. Plenty of safe parking at the nicely presented hotel entrance. Thank you for a lovely stay and plan to return!

Really pleasant place to stay in the north of the lakes. Great food, bar and restaurant. Rooms are all modern and breakfast are substantial. All in all a great find for exploring the quieter parts of the lake district.

Hotel is in a great location, staff are friendly and helpful however the place really needs some renovation. Hair dryer was broken in the room with no spares at reception. Shower wasn't the greatest, amenities were tiny 2 use max, which is such a waste when a pump on the wall would suffice. The bed wasn't great but that's just my opinion. And the room we were in would get an awful whistling noise when the wind hit it, which was most of the night. Finally the price of the food was a little inflated for what we got.

Where do I start...empty lobby/reception on arrival so nobody to greet us/check in. Our room (No 70) was in the grubby "annexe" to the hotel with no views to the rear of property. Room stunk of diesel from boiler room next door, it was More
