The team that previously managed Veranda Highpoint...

The team that previously managed Veranda Highpointe (Cardinal Group) was incredible, hard working, transparent and friendly. They no longer manage this property sadly but I wanted to shout from the rooftops about how much we loved them. I am floored that they are no longer there. Erica Moats, Mike Maurer, and Walker Patten all made a HUGE difference and cared tremendously about their relationship with tenants and the outcome of each thing they did. Big or small project. I truly miss them so much and have never had a better property management team in all my years of renting at apartments. I can only wish for another team like this again as it clearly doesn t happen often!!

As a real estate executive this company is very impressive for a company established in 2008. Amazing portfolio and the website allows easy research to see why they are amazing. Skilled leadership to build a team that can make a company this top notch.

I rented a room at your property Fifty Twenty-five in San Diego and its roach infested, nothing like what they show online, online and in the tour they sell you a renovated unit ,when in reality its dirty and old, very disappointed, not what we sign for, and if you try to get out of the lease since its not what they sold you, they tell you its not within their policy. I wish I had seen all the bad reviews before renting there for my daughter. Terrible experience. Talked to management, and they said renovations wont be ready until summer, then why do they sell a renovated place, when is not the reality

Cardinal Group does not do the right thing every t...

Cardinal Group does not do the right thing every time as they claim in their photo. They run a high pressure sales environment for their leasing agents who are expected to get people to sign on the dotted line ASAP. I signed a lease for one of their properties and within hours asked to be released from the lease, yes within HOURS. Cardinal Group would not release me from my lease. They wanted to charge excessive fees. The unit was not ready for my move in, there were missing screens, and see through blinds. They did allow me to move to another unit however I continued to have concerns. I reached out to the representative from Cardinal Group via email. She did not respond to my email promptly and was insistent that I would need to pay the excessive fees, I hadn't moved a single thing into the unit. To say they do the right thing every time is a bogus claim. They give all property management companies a bad reputation with their lack of empathy and their inability to do the right thing.

The group continually neglected maintenance in my building and was very slow to address resident concerns, if they acknowledged them at all. Their lack of maintenance led to a pipe burst that caused $5000+ of damage to my vehicle. Not once did I hear so much as an apology for the inconvenience. They continued claimed zero responsibility and were very slow to respond to to me, continually speaking down to me and not justifying any of their claims that they did their maintenance, to the contrary they dodged the facts of the situation entirely. Shameful

I have been trying to renew my lease at University Village Muncie for over a month. I had asked UV if I could get my and my roommate s rooms switched on the lease and they told me they had to talk to corporate. The are still waiting for corporates response to my request. It is highly unprofessional that it has taken this long for someone at Cardinal Group to answer a simple yes or no question. This not only affects me and the roommate whose rooms we re trying to switch but my two other roommates who are waiting on us to sign our leases. It is December. I have been inquiring since early November. At a time when we should just be worrying about finals, we re worrying about whether or not we have a place to live.

My 20 year old daughter applied to the Proper in Raleigh, North Carolina. This was her first time moving out on her own. She signed the lease and less than 24 hours later she called and canceled the lease. Apparently there was a clause In the lease that discussed bedbugs. Being that this is a furnished room, she was disgusted by the idea of that possibility and the fact that it was in the lease really turned her off to wanting to live there. The gentleman on the phone told her ok I ll cancel that for you. Two days later she got a call from Jen who is a leasing agent telling her that she has to pay a $500 re-let fee. Keep in mind that my daughter had not paid a deposit, has never stepped foot on the property, has not provided a copy of any paystubs and not even a copy of her State ID. My daughter paid the fee because she felt forced/threatened by Jen. You see I had co-signed on the lease and Jen indicated that my credit for be ruined so that s why my daughter paid the fee. After sending emails and leaving several messages with the Cardinal Management Group. I finally received and email from their supervisor Emerald who basically said that my daughter was charged the wrong fee and that they will refund my daughter $150 of the $500 she paid. No where on the lease did it show the fee that would be so in a re-let situation nor could they produce for me where it said it on the lease. Lesson learned for my daughter to make sure and read before signing and to never lease from any property that is managed under Cardinal Management. If I could I wouldn t give them not one star for they lack of professionalism, empathy, poor training of their employees, unresponsive and rudeness.

There was serious water damage to my daughter s apartment when the pipes from the apartment above had a leak. It s been a month and there is mold everywhere. Logan Square in Auburn Alabama has been a disaster. As others have said I never get calls returned. I left s message with corporate over 2 weeks ago. They have not provided my daughter or the 2 guys upstairs suitable housing. My daughter sent me a video of the latest apartment and it had mold everywhere. The guys above my daughter have had serious respiratory infections due to the mold. My daughter is having migraines and she won t stay at her apartment. They didn t offer suitable accommodations to her neighbors above so they have been living in the moldy apartment. The front office told my daughter that they would conduct a mold test next week by a professional that works with mold. They told my daughter and me that we would have to pay for the $1,000 text if it comes back negative. Seriously?????? My daughter and her neighbors both conducted mold testing with a kit. Both apartments grew out several types of mold. The office keeps saying that there s mold everywhere. Well if there s mold on the ceilings, in the cracks between the cabinets and flooring etc then there s a mold problem. It smells musty and will damage your lungs as the neighbors upstairs are currently dealing with. They said call corporate again which I have and no one will answer the voicemails and the front office rarely answers their phone. The 1st & 2nd apartments they offered had no bedding, towels etc. When I asked what about bedding I was told that she can take it and get it washed but they don t recommend taking anything from her apartment because it s stained with rust and mold. I have tried everything and have reached the breaking point. It s a 4 hour drive to get to Auburn and we really can t take time off. Now we re waiting for the mold samples the kids sent off to be identified. We shouldn t have to buy duplicates of everything in her apartment. I don t want my daughter living there because of the mold. Hearing how ill the guys are I m glad she hasn t returned to her apartment complex. Rent is over $900 for a 1 bedroom and I have paid for October but she hasn t stayed there. The parents of the boys upstairs live close to us so we are getting together to discuss a path forward with the mold remediation. My daughter likes the apartment and it s location but she can t live there until the problems are addressed. We have videos of the extensive water damage as well as the apartments they said were suitable. Frustrated!! Jane

Here s a photo of a dorm with a serious mold problem the 2nd is from the apartment. This is a serious health hazard.
