Cool place to visit, a lot of various bugs / butterflies / sea creatures to learn about. Would've given 5 stars, but the penny press was broken and told 2 departments about it, and literally no one cared. Another issue was it was packed with school children. That is great, but they need to put something on their site if they're having a school event. To let everyone know. Couldn't walk more than 5 feet in the place without kids running in front of you or screaming at something. While I'm all for field trips for education, it was overbearing the day we went. Besides that, worth a visit.

Nice little place. Good variety of exhibits(not just butterflies) & of course the butterflies... There are a lot of them, in a small rain forest, very well done. You will encounter many of them. It is a bit overpriced/costly though.

Most of the staff was kind and intelligent. It's a great place to take kids to teach them about butterfly's, and the spider is awesome as well. It's a shame more places don't let you play with large arachnids. They are such awesome creatures. My only complaint is, there doesn't seem to be a system in place to actually handle the guests who have decided to take it upon themselves to ruin random butterfly's lives for pictures or a laugh or sometimes just for sick cruel kicks. It's really really sickening to watch people harm such beautiful creatures so heartlessly. And there doesn't seem to be anything the sometimes clearly frustrated staff could really do about these grown ass adults being worse than I can explain acting a fool. It makes me sick honestly the amount of disrespect the staff puts up with every day. You guests that don't follow rules and don't respect other life seriously make me wish the staff could sue. If you want to PLAY with butterflies this IS NOT THE PLACE. If you're ready to explain to your kids that touching butterflies hurts them. And that you need to be sensitive and careful and considerate this is a wonderful place to show them the beauty of some of Earth's smallest and most beautiful creatures.

This is a wonderful place to bring your family or relatives coming from out of town. The butterfly environment is only one section and is quite amazing. We especially like the aquatic sea life including the octopus and deep-sea isopods. They do daily / hourly book reading and performances which is also quite entertaining. They have a play area for toddlers and older children which is great to get some additional energy out. Gift shop is quite stocked and it feels good to support a great organization. Staff are super friendly and helpful as always.

A family favorite! Have to hold Rosie and spend a ton of time here. May seem a bit overpriced to some, but definitely worth it for the experience. Have a membership and the kids beg to visit all the time.

Excellent place for kids and adults. It is a very unique experience to have a tarantula crawl on you and have a bunch of butterflies land on you on the same day. My 2 year old had a whole bunch of fun over there as well. I would definitely recommend this place for a good family trip during a weekend in the summer.

my favorite place to go!! i find the best time to be in the butterfly room is early in morning or afternoon to beat the rush they sometimes have. such a majestic and beautiful place :)

It was good. Most of the stuff is open, and the timed entries keep the crowding way down. It was a little weird that they made us line up until all the 1 o'clock groups got there so we could enter at once, it made it a little difficult to maintain 6 feet apart at first, but eventually all the groups branched off.

The butterfly nursery space was completely enchanting. The variety of butterflies makes them even more beautiful. I brought my 2 month old son and a friend came with her 2 year old and they both loved it! The pavilion is for everyone truly, you can't help be totally captivated by the natural space. There is an aquarium section where kids get to touch star fish. This was another great area. The staff is friendly and they are happy interacting w the kids. Also, the have a new play space that mimics Colorado outdoors, kids LOVE this area as well. All around great place for anyone to visit!

The Butterfly Pavilion is so much more than its name suggests. When you enter you step into an entymological wonderland. From a wide array of arachnids (I got to hold a Chilean Rose Hair tarantula!!!) to some of the most beautiful insects you've ever seen. The displays are perfectly sized for individual viewing. Take your time and enjoy each exhibit, looking closely for the insects in the terraria. There are informational plaques on each vivarium. The water invertebrate collection is stunning and one of my favorites. There you can view all kinds of fascinating creatures. Take the opportunity to touch starfish and horseshoe crabs!

The butterfly house holds over 200 species of plants from around the world and countless species of butterflies. I cannot stress enough how important it is to take your time. Read the information on display, relish the sound of the stream meandering through the exhibit, and let your eyes lead you through a world of color and grace. Think that butterfly is brown and boring? Watch as the wings open to shock you with an iridescent blue delight! Look under every leaf. Stand still as butterflies fly around you. Pause in wonder as one lands on your arm or hand. There was even a wedding being held later that evening amid all that flora and fauna. I imagine it was magical.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will definitely visit again when we're in town. An important note: I am 33 as of this review. I saw all ages at the pavilion, though many were children. My advice here is twofold. Anyone of any age will find something that speaks to them, so never think you are too old to visit. As for parents with children, taking time may not be in your child's repertoire. That's ok! I saw kids stop dead in their tracks at various displays. It may be one thing that captures your child's attention and fascinates them. That alone is worth the visit.

Easily a 5 star experience for families with young children. There's lots of hands on and interactive exhibits, the staff is patient and knowledgeable, and the cost is small for admission. You can easily see everything in a short amount of time, great for those youngsters with short attention spans, or you can go sit quietly in the butterfly room and enjoy watching the wildlife fluttering around you. One thing worth going for is when they release newly hatched butterflies. Not sure when they do that during the day, but I'm sure a quick phone call can answer that.

We have visited several places in North America that are similar to this one but this is our favorite. Nothing compares to the sheer quality and quantity of exotic plants and stunning butterflies you will find here. They were all over us and they tickle :) Just obey the rules and don't touch them.

Delightful! The butterfly atrium is hot and humid, so wear clothing for the rain forest. Neat bugs, bees, and aquariums in addition to the hundreds of butterflies. I especially enjoy watching the octopus, and holding the tarantula is exciting. Highly recommend bringing visitors here, fun for all ages.

Disappointed that a woman in the guest service department was rude and impatient over the phone just now. No excuse for that. Helping guests understand and navigate the reservation schedule should not be a frustrating activity for a team member choosing to work in guest service. Bummer that our first point of contact with this company was so discourteous. We'll try back another day and hope for a better experience.

My kids love this place. An excellent variety of butterflies and moths, plus hands on bug and ocean creature touching for the kiddos. Some recent redesigns have made the flow of the place much better. Don't forget to hold Rosie the tarantula on your visit. Keep a lookout for Bugs and Beer or Wings and Wine, the after hours cocktail parties.
