Visited here whilst staying with friends. Having already seen rock of ages on Broadway I was interested to compare the two versions. On entering I noticed the beautiful decorative setting .The show itself was fantastic from start to finish finish great classic tunes performed by very talented singer/performers . Highly recommended

Nice place, staff are very friendly, lion King show fantastic, view from second floor row F16 very good, the place was far to warm for all of the show, could do with turning the temperatures down a few degrees, other than that all good

Took my partner and two kids under 9. The experience is something we won't forget. Food was expensive but as to be expected with these type of facilities. Kids have spoke about it ever since, doubt they will forget it soon.

We went to the Hippodrome to see Beautiful - the Carol King musical which was fabulous. Great songs, arrangements and cast. We had a warm welcome on the door and the high standard of service remained throughout the evening - in the bar, auditorium and as we left after the show. I can't praise the staff highly enough.

Lovely theatre with lots of old features. Being an old building the seats aren't overly well spaced out, even the stalls aren't well angled so a tall person in front will interrupt the view somewhat. My only issue is the lack of facilities meaning, as a female, you may not be able to use the toilet during the break as the queus are very long. Drinks and snacks inside can be quite expensive but it's easy to bring in your own and there is a tesco express across the street.

Easy to get to and park. Great building. Helpful and polite staff. Good viewing of stage from anywhere too. Kinky boots, the musical, was phenomenal. Absolutely awesome. Leading lady pkaying Lauren was Charlie Allen. Superbly talented actor, singer and singer. The whole cast and orchestra were awesome. The choreography was awesome too.

So went to go see Book of Mormon and it was excellent, such a funny take on religion and a great parody of musicals in general! The theatre itself isn't bad but if you are tall there isn't much leg room in the stalls.

A larger theatre than it looks from the outside! Seats are arranged at a great angle, meaning the view from most seats are good. Watched the Lion King here recently and had a lovely experience.

Just finished a theatre tour. Total pleasure to listen to and engage with our host and tour guide. Great experience to see and understand the workings from front of house to understage upto the fly floor

The hippodrome has a special place in my heart. I have been to many performances here and just absolutely adore the decor. Although it's showing signs of wear and tear, it's absolutely gorgeous.

Seating wise, I have always had good seats and never experienced any limited visibility These ones were N1/2/3 stalls so great view.

They are small seats and very snug. I can imagine for very tall or larger sized people they may find this uncomfortable.

Low lights in foyer, but atmospheric.

Lovely staff, stunning theatre.

This venerable old theatre has had a makeover since I was last there about six months ago. New seats and fresh paint throughout had transformed it. No more sticky carpets and grubby upholstery means I'd be happy to wear decent clothes there - if I had any...

Went to see The Lion King with my girlfriend's family who only speak German. We all had an amazing time, the music, production and of course the story were all great fun. Even though the relatives didn't understand what was being said, they had an amazing time also!

I have seen various shows at the Bristol Hippodrome over the years and most productions have been excellent and I have sat mainly in the stalls (note newly refurbished seats in the stalls and grand circle - been done in the last couple of years - saw lion king in November 2019 and after a gap of a while so had been done then and also up in the circle at the top (not much good unless you are good or OK with heights but you do get a good view)

I booked to go on a theatre tour in December and it is an eye opener to all the things that you miss as you go in and explains a lot - it is a grade 2 listed buildings so there is a limit to the things that they can do with a building that is now 107 years old opened 16th December 1912 - and survived 2 world wars without being damaged and burnt in a fire back stage in 1947!!

If you are interested in the theatre it is worth booking on this tour just to get a better insight and understanding - you go behind stage and in the orchestra pit and also on the stage - there is a charge for this

GETTING THERE - Would suggest for most people that live locally in Bristol that you use the bus as all or most of the buses go through the centre of Bristol and pass close by to the theatre - this will be cheaper than parking and also not as a busy

Car parks are nearby but they will also be a fare walk away and busy

SECURITY CHECKS - Allow plenty of time to get through the security checks and to be seated for a prompt start at the time stated - nothing more irritating that people who come in late after the show has started - off-putting for the audience as well as the actors

Otherwise enjoy the evening

Even the cheapest seating options are very expensive. Considering you are sat for at least 2 hours per show, for the price paid I expect a little more comfort in the legroom and butt cushioning areas. Also the establishment didn't seem to have a problem with purple wandering about during the shows, which I found quite annoying.

My daughter just took me here to watch Disney lionking the musical - had a fantastic night, show was excellent. the theatre itself is perfect and well set out. The only down sides are - the mens toilets upstairs are about the same size as More

Saw Thriller Live. Very nice show.

Saw Thriller Live. Very nice show.

Pros:
- Beautiful theatre with decent seating.
- Friendly and helpful staff.
- Performance enjoyed by all.

Cons:
- Annoying gaggle of school kids talked the whole way through the performance. It was most noticeable during quiet parts of songs. Emphasis needs to be placed on respecting other patrons and security should tell people to be quiet!
- Exits need to be more clearly marked. There was some confusion during leaving. It can get a bit too crowded.
- I am not sure why my bag needed to be partly searched before entering .

Lovely building however you are shoehorned in, especially in the Grand and upper circles with your knees hard against seat in front and I'm not particularly tall at 5ft 7in. Also no space to the side, if you're not friends with the person next to you, you will be by the end.
Shows are great though

Fortunate to have such a grand building in Bristol with untouched but pristine original decor. Must see as long as theres a show/production of interest to you. Be ready to spend money as drinks and edibles are not cheap, but worth it for the experience.

Lovely old theatre. Not much leg room - your knees are crammed against the seats in front of you. You can preorder food for interval which is delivered to your seat - a good way to avoid the queues

The Motown musical was absolutely fantastic brought back a lot of memories especially of when I used to go and see some Motown groups that performed in small venues and after the performance when a radio one DJ took after they came into the crowd to dance good times that you can't do today.

I'm a frequent visitor and do love it. It's lovely kept up and performances are of all genres for found and old. If one is on the larger (22+) side and/or got longer legs I recommend to get a seat in the stall, it's so much more comfortable. Enjoy!

Absolutely love the Hippodrome!

Absolutely love the Hippodrome!
The staff are all very friendly and helpful!
And so far all the shows I've seen here have been amazing! My favourite so far has to be the Play That Goes Wrong! Haven't laughed as much as I did that night in a long time!!
So if you see a show you are tempted by, go give it a chance here!
The seats we normally get are right at the front and they give you a great view and you are right there with the action too!

Went to see The Addams Family and Wicked in the past few years and I must say that The Bristol Hippodrome is a fantastic theatre with brilliant shows that often tour across the UK and come here. For people mentioning that the seats in Upper Circle are uncomfortable, yes they are, but you paid for the cheapest seats so therefore you aren't getting the best quality benches. Sit in the Grand Circle or Stalls for possibly a better view and much, much comfier individual chairs with arm rests too.
