What a beautiful theatre. Steeped in history, and in my opinion every bit as nostalgic as the West End. The atmosphere was amazing, as the seating arrangement meant that the up close and personal vibe was all around the room. We saw Kinky Boots, which I'd highly recommend.

THIS IS JUST ABOUT THE PIANO BAR, NOT THE PERFORMANCES OR THEATRE. The service in The Piano Bar, attached to the theatre is appalling. At one point there were 5 staff behind the tiny counter and only ONE till being used. They served people ad hoc, not caring who was there first. The coffee cups were difficult to hold, with ridiculous tiny circlet handles...especially when NO SAUCERS were provided...and with so few seats, holding it standing was painful. A really bad experience. The only good thing about this bar was the piano player.

First time here and it looks great, the bar is packed at peak times so make sure you have plenty of time before the show if you want to get a drink and don't forget to buy your interim drinks in advance so they are easier to pick up.

Historic theatre with all the main shows. Pretty good views from anywhere although smaller children may struggle if you are towards the back. Seats have recently been refurbished so are a bit more comfy. Facilities are clean and plenty of parking nearby.

Watched Book of Mormon, was amazing show. The venue is nice and aesthetically pleasing but... the seating was a bit cramped. On the other hand the viewing angle from the second cheapest option was really good.
Had a good night overall!

My favourite place to indulge my mind in culture, laughter and stories that I may read or seen. Experience the unseen.

Very spacious. Highly reccomend booking tickets in advance. Worth getting a Theatre Card too: for discounts and ticket pre-sales.

Depends on the show and how much you willing to treat yourself, obviously stalls are the best for viewing.

Ice cream is always available at multiple locations at intervals but seat ordering is available too: drinks and food!

Well done to the staff for coping so well with the medical emergency on Tuesday. I was sorry to witness such unpleasant rudeness towards you by some of the audience for a problem that was nobody's fault. Best wishes to the gentleman concerned for his recovery. We absolutely loved the first half of Calendar Girls.

Went to see Lion King. Show was as expected totally awesome. However we sat at the back and fell victim to the freezing cold air conditioning blasting down on us. Asked the usher before the show if it would be switched off and she assured me it would be as soon as the show started. BUT it wasn t until just before the break. Really spoilt the evening. We were given blankets which helped but you don t expect to have to sit in a theatre wrapped up in a blanket. Needs sorting out.

Great place. Second only to the Royal Albert Hall. A word of warning, do not drink too much, as the toilets can only accommodate a tiny amount of people at a time. Would also recommend, if you are planning to purchases a snack in the interval, ordering it beforehand. Just download the app, or easier still, just wave the menu in the air, and an usher will gladly take your order, payment, and then bring it to your seat at the interval! Genius.

Watched matinee performance of Book of Mormon on 22Feb2020 which was very good. Bar & other staff were slow and rude. Theatre is cramped & really cold - I had to keep my coat on. I wont be going back as there are much better theatres outside the West End in the UK (Birmingham, Nottingham etc)

had tickets for Motown as a Christmas gift off our son and daughter in law at the hippodrome fantastic show we have been to a few and this was the best by far. weather was awful so didn't expect to see many there but was packed.
would recommend to anyone to go and see you won't be able to sit there without foot tapping and clapping.
brilliant night.

Nice theatre all in all. Different bars to choose from to get get a drink and plenty of toilets. Kust be aware if you are in Upper circle, and it's a sell out you are really packed in on bench style seating, gets pretty hot and uncomfortable after a while.

Absolutely brilliant. Saw beauty and the beast by Birmingham Royal ballet. The staff here are very helpful for any query you have. The food/drink/snack delivery service via app was a huge surprise to me and seemed very convenient. It's a very beautiful place to go and enjoy a performance.

Amazing production of Wicked there this week! I felt unwell being in the Upper Circle so wish I knew before going there just how steep it would feel. Staff were very considerate when I left just before the interval to get some air. Other people on my row - not so much, even if we were 2 seats in from the end of the aisle. Just an incredible experience with beautiful pieces being played by a pianist on arrival.

Went to see The Lion King. Saw this many years ago in London. It was amazing then and if it can be, it's even better now! Great atmosphere, lovely place to see shows. As its in the centre of town you have many choices if you want to go out for food before or afterwards.

Classic theatre in the centre of Bristol showing the best of touring productions.
Friendly but efficient staff.
Some of the facilities are a little dated but you can't have classic charm and modern convenience.

The only thing that let the place down was the amount of space you have when seated. I'm 5ft 3 and was pretty uncomfortable after about 30mins. My husband is 6ft 3 and found it almost unbearable. The rest of the venue was great!

Returned to the Hippodrome for the first time last week in 6 years. Absolutely love this venue. Having left my ticket in Swindon, my first call was to the Box Office who was very helpful and polite and wasn't an issue for them to sort out for me. Front of House Staff from the Bars, Foyers and Auditorium were all very friendly, chatty, helpful and willing to help answer anything. Even during the Interval and after the show. The Bristol Hippodrome is the best Venue in the South West. Of course being an ATG Venue, their Customer service is only the best!

A lovely old theatre. One very minor criticism: it would be nice if the ice-cream sellers sold basic soft drinks as well. When you're on your own with children, it's not practical to queue with children twice.

Unfortunately we found the theatre incredibly uncomfortable with minimal leg room, small seats and incredibly hot! Goodness knows what it must have been like in the summer! You really shouldn t have to sit in utter pain with being crammed into a small seating area! Not enough toilets, overcrowding in public areas and very overpriced for everything. This really did dampen our enjoyment of a fantastic show which wasn t cheap! Hippodrome really needs to drag themselves into the 21st century and invest some of the very large amounts of money they are raking in!!

Has a wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff. The seating design not aging well though and the amount of stairs was a strain on my mother's leg's. I understand that these lend themselves to the venue's classic charm but being unable to move your feet lest you kick the row if front in the back and not enough room to contain tall legs between the back of the bench and the next bench in front can be a bother in a 2 hour plus show.

Great venue, the staff were super but there is no leg room for tall people. To make it worse they have put dispensers for opera glasses on join of the chairs in front so I spent the night with it stuck in one of my knees and the other knee forced to the other side of the chair in front, not v lady like at all.

Plenty of bars, comfortable seats generally with good views, and one of the largest stages outside of London West End make this a great venue. Only downside is somewhat restricted access for those who have difficulty with steps.

Christmas Panto is a favourite pastime for my family & I and, as such, we have visited theatres around the country for our annual festive treat! I love the Bristol Hippodrome largely due to the history and architecture of the place. However, the bench seating on the Upper Circle is extremely cramped and uncomfortable (prices do reflect this) so I'd urge you to save up and pay for the more comfortable and spacious seating on the lower levels. The productions and performances are always first rate and the cost of refreshments and flashing toys for the children are pricey but largely in keeping with other theatres of this type.

My daughter brought me here to watch Vincent & Flavia dance to last tango. A story of love to dance. Not for nought were they 2x world champions. I was in tears by the curtain call and was so saddened when they left Strictly come dancing. The venue is charming and there's parking close by. Enjoy your visit whatever you are watching

Saw the Lion King here which was incredible! But the hippodrome is authentic and the staff were very helpful. A little bit warm but that is to be expected with the amount of people crammed into a small space. The seats are less than comfortable but as an experience, it was wonderful. Would recommend going, especially to see be lion king!
