Offered truffle more times than I could count, 5 stars
Lovely light tuna dinner beautiful walk along pier then deserts and a glass of wine - atmosphere and staff friendly all in all a good evening
I found this place to be rather disappointing for a place with such an awesome location. Everything was just okay, the only wow factor is the views of the sea baths, but even that isn't all that special.
Even though we lived in St Kilda, Brighton beach is our go to place on a hot summer day. It is just more relaxing and less crowded than St Kilda. Middle Brighton Baths Cafe & Bar is a great spot right on the beach front. The food is very much similar like many other decent cafes. I quite like the fish and chips. The butter is light and crispy.
The outdoor area is really charming. You have the options to sit down stairs on the deck or go upstair on the balcony. Ocean and City Skyline are right in front of you. Both food and drinks are reasonable priced for its location. Service is usually very attentitve. Quality foods with beautiful view make it our favourite cafe in Brighton.
I went to one of the laddies toilet. When I was in one toilet, I realised there was some strange noise in anoer toilet, which was just a woden bard in betwen and has open underneth and top. I aksed is there anyone there? There was no reply. Then I heard some other girls came in and tried to open the door of another toilet. Then I heard a man' voice from that toilet. It was a horrible experience. I then told the waitress, she said it is ok. Obviousely the cafe stuff know this. I will never be back. I don't think it is safe for any women.
Nice place for food or drinks and lovely location. Parking at the venue is expensive so you'll be better off parking on the residential streets nearby. Free for 2hrs.
Pretty view and a glass of ice cold Riesling. What's not to like?
Nice view, Overpriced, staff need a personality check
don't know why the rates in google only 3.9, I feel the food either looking or taste all very good
Great view from the deck my beer battered fish was great my friend ordered the homus which was awful no flavour the waiter was good no charge for meal gave her a free wine she ate all my chips
Great environment... excellent food n drink... first rate service
Its the first time my husband and I have lunch in this place, haven t been this area for so long. Well welcomed by an Asian manager (He told us this is his first shift), friendly and enthusiastic, food was great too, we had calamari and lamb ragout..Will be back again
Disappointing is all I can say.
The fresh rolls made this morning were sitting in the sun at 1pm.
I asked for fresh ones to be made and 10 minutes later they came back and said as the kitchen was busy they would be a twenty minute wait.
Decided to get a muffin and a almond croissant. Both were not fresh.
Trading on the location not quality or service.
Nice place and view to enjoy a drink. Food is alright
Great venue, friendly staffs great place for lunch or dinner.
Just updating my review.
I thought that I would try this place again. The view is always great. We waited for 15min to be served. I am glad I paid for an hours park. Finally ordered our food with 2 sides of bacon. The bacon did not come out with the eggs, they forgot. Only brought out one order of side bacon and still just all fatty bits. The coffee was great though. It is nice to know that this place is consistent 9 months later.
Keep driving.
9 months ago my review
Was not impressed with the food. Ordered a side of bacon and only the fatty bits came out. Got to lift their game.
Nice views, great coffee, friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices - what else to look for?
Highly recommended!
Amazing service and staff, delicious food:) highly recommended:) definitely looking after you :) well done :)
Love the ambience... lunch or dinner by the sea. It's quite affordable compared to what it used you be.
A superb location on the waterfront.
Whether it's a balmy summer evening or a cold winters day, it's a great place to chill with a wine or coffee and have a meal.
There's a decent enough choice on the menu, and the prices, for lunch and dinner, aren't too bad. The breakfast prices though are certainly overpriced. Serving size is acceptable (although this is really subjective), but more importantly the food is delicious and well presented. They have definitely upped their game in this department over the last few months.
One place where they constantly fall down is service. There's no consistency to it at all, with my experience tending towards lacklustre. It generally takes quite some time for someone to, first, come and take drinks/meal order, and, second, to actually return with said drinks order, or even just water.
The times when you do get prompt and efficient service certainly make the whole experience so much better. They really need to make a concerted effort to get the staff to make this the norm.
Overall, it's a decent enough place for a meal that is let down by its service.
Nice view. Shame about the service, food portion size, long wait time and the careless waiter that forgotten to place one of our order.
Staff very attentive food and atmosphere was great amazing views
Beautiful place, friendly staff! Good food and drink !
Great food, hard to decide what to order. Atmosphere was really nice and relaxed for a weekend lunch. The view out the back overlooks the swimming compound with a fantastic view of the city centre. Recommended..
Great dessert, especially the carrot cake!
Still open for takeaway and impressive food
Had lunch here today. The food was overall okay, but the service was a bit disappointing, if not appalling. It took them a while to see us needing their assistance (there were only four tables of ppl at the time and 3 ppl waiting on the customers) and only to come to us and ask if we needed menu even the menu was on the table. Food was okay and came up pretty quickly. Then at the time of payment, the same waiter took our bill. There was no exchange of conversation (e.g. how was the food; was everything okay etc.). When Pin was needed, he didn t say anything, but simply hand the machine to us. His face was without any expression. After the awkward silence finally came to an end and we were leaving, we saw him smiling and talking to people at a different table. We could think nothing but that the waiter was clearly unprofessional and discrimitory (We are Asian and talking to each other in a non English language, but we ordered food in fluent English). Having been in Australia for almost 10 years, I regret to say that this was the worst service I ever had. It s a shame cuz it was Australia Day and the view from the bar was stunning.
Stumbled upon this place during a recent visit to Melbourne. Have to say that the location is quite spectacular and we were not disappointed with the overall experience of eating at this place. Our staff member appeared well educated on the various items on the menu and was more than happy to educate us on how some of the dishes were prepared. The food was definitely quality over quantity. The only negative for us was that we did not get a chance to taste more on the menu (maybe a taster dish could be offered). We will return again if we get back to Melbourne.
Don't bother getting a takeaway coffee. They are disorganised! How hard is it to put a coffee machine in the kiosk. Bypass plenty of other options closeby.
Oh the views here are STUNNING. The food was incredible, the service delightful but I would ve paid just to sit and admire the view. Seriously considering booking my wedding reception here! It s awesome.
Beautiful venue with amazing views of the ocean and the city skyline. Food is absolutely amazing. I had the pumkin ravioli which were mind-blowing in flavour and texture. Oysters are fresh and delicious. I do not recommend ordering the fish and chips as its pretty basic and I would rather go with one of their other dishes as they show the true skills of the chef. Dessert was delicious and a perfect end to the meal. Wine list is extensive and there is a wine to pair with every dish. Staff are nice and attentive.
This restaurant is amazing for people who enjoy good quality food and a nice atmosphere. Tip: the sunset is stunning so I recommend booking in during the evenings.
Fantastic experience. Wonderful service and menu. Highly recommended.
Expensive menu and the food is just Ok. Ordered drinks as we sat down, however took 10 mins plus before they brought them out. Slow process driven service. Pity as staff are very friendly.
Another place to add to the list of special places to eat at . Staff were there to please, everything from the food to the service, looking out to the sea of lights across to Melbourne city wow was amazing nite.
Lovely outlook, cute and old school. Wine list could do with a bit of love, need more interesting things by the glass, not just the sample that was tried yesterday...
I booked a group function here for a surprise celebration. I must say, from booking in and making arrangements to the end of the evening, I had a great experience. The lady who I dealt with to make arrangements was courteous and professional making. The evening was great, food service and staff making it a memorable evening. It all went seamlessly and the staff were right across everything. Compliments to the chefs for doing a fantastic job producing consistently great foods for a large group. Thank you !
This place has so much potential, but time and time again the food lets this place down. Whether its the burger, which was inedible or the fish and chips, old stale and dry. I have given this place so many chances and now i just stick to the coffees and kids shakes. I dont know whether its the quality of the food being sent in or the chef. But i now avoid the food at all costs. I would love to know when they change chef or when they change food providers.
Late Sunday dinner, watching the sun set over the Bay on a warm Summer evening (doesn't get any better) . Good variety of mains, (average $24), and a good wine list. Well trained staff, great service. We have eaten there before, and will definately come back again. It's walk in service, no reservations available being the only negative.
I grew up here. An my grandfather did the brick work at the front of building RIP Keith Cumming ...
Great location, good food, friendly and helpful staff but table etiquette lacks a little.
Good food, decent prices. Would give 5 stars but the atmosphere was a little off - not enough lighting and staff was very noisy.
Nice spot for a Sunday sunset, it was enough food for three when we only ordered two mains... the pepperoni pizza and calamari main was really more than enough...
Looking at the view when sitting at deck, it makes everything delicious
I love this cafe on a sunny day, relax, soak up the sunshine and the atmosphere with spectacular views and excellent food! Try the Seafood Spaghetti, I haven't found better, it's delicious #LetsGuide
Food very average - service average - expensive - nice views
Nice food, pet friendly outer deck. Nice rest stop during bike rides or for lunch/dinner after being at the dog beach.
The food was delicious and the service was amazing. The wait staff were very friendly and polite, and everyone's meals were all brought out at the same time. I had the beef cheek, which was so tender it fell apart and melts in your mouth. The calamari to start were some of the best I'd had. The white wine sangria was lovely and refreshing, with a hint of peach flavour. We will definitely be back.
Great beer. Expected to be fleeced but very reasonable priceing
Amazing place! The setting, the food and the staff all makes this place what it is. They also have sun screen on hand if you need some!
Excellent place!
Excellent location but the brunch was shockingly undercooked and overpriced for the quality. Worst brunch we've had in Melbourne.
Great meeting place for lunch or just a coffee, views of the bay, yachts and Melbourne city are awesome
Excellent good, great service from staff, and what a view!
Wow I haven t been here for ages and came along for a drink with a friend on a windy day to find it full with diners. The outside was abandoned mostly because of the weather but inside was crazy full. When sitting outside on a warm day there are umbrellas to be shaded. Upstairs there was a wedding reception on. The menu is good and the wine list was very good. They cater for most dietaries. The view over Port Phillip Bay is lovely and for entertainment on a day like today, you can watch the windsurfers and kite surfers strut their stuff. Staff are on their toes and super busy on a summer s night. Check for opening hours.
Kid friendly. Wheelchair friendly. Prams and strollers allowed. Good parking but at $5.80 per hour it s quite steep.
A great place to eat brunch. On the expensive side but good once every so often
Not great ordered hummus dish given a tasteless hummus had to ask for lemon for some taste it just tasted like blizted chickpeas not nice. I think they could do a lot better...staff are over egar to clear tables and take orders. Also eggs benidict not the best very small portion ... Ice coffees are good though
Chips were lovely, pizza very disappointing as it wasn't cooked. Humus ok, but just fresh bread with a dollop...
Excellent location for a casual lunch overlooking Port Phillip Bay, the Marina and city views. Staff were attentive and the meal was delicious.
I have been here 3 times in the last year and the service has been consistency terrible. Yesterday I ordered a smoothy and fruit toast and waited 50 minutes and left without eating. My companions ordered coffee which took 45 mins to arrive. I cant imagine how they can get things so wrong....if you want a place to admire the view undisturbed by food or drinks this your place otherwise go elsewhere....
Beautiful views and good service. The food was delicious and interesting.
I took the family out for dinner upstairs. Everyone enjoyed their meals, great service, really great quality food although my fish special was a bit on the small side if I was being picky. The chef was accomodating and the menu itself had a good selection catering to varied tastes. One of the best fish & chips I've seen in a while and a good pick for the kids. Oh and not to forget the awsome city views...get a window seat if you can. It's high quality without being pretentious as you might expect in "Brighton". All in all a very good experience and definitely recommend The Baths for dinner!
Visit here on Monday 10th.Aug 2015 for lunch with wife. Ordered fish and chips but the fish was tasteless. The dough had more taste than the fish. One of the junior waitress were superfriendly and nice, however a senior waitress who wait at the cashier were super hostile and super unfriendly. She shouldn't have serve any customer, in her condition. Sorry it is my money and will never come back. Owner take note.
Step back into Victorian Melbourne when the locals were scared of..., water creatures generally I guess.
Fantastic, great view, great service and the lunch menu special was excellent. $$$
Seems like they are penny-pinching (there were 2 clues).
We come here every month or so and this was first time it was disappointing and didn't get 5 stars.
Had the mushroom and fetta tart with side salad (lunch menu): tart was tasty but absolutely tiny and had just rocket leaves and dressing. Ordered chips as soon as it arrived. I don't think it's ok pay that much and still be hungry.
Then paying by card there's a surcharge for EFTPOS. Wouldn't have minded as I had cash but wasn't warned so ended up with no choice.
Amazing location...that was still there.
Serving sizes are small for what you pay for but great views and service was good.
Came here for a set menu lunch for the first time. Wasn't impressed with the set menu.
However the food on the menu downstairs is quite good so not sure what happened there.
Always great service here
The main wait staff choose who they want to serve and treat people based on age and what they wear. The food was average for what you pay. Wouldn't recommend this place if you want proper hospitality. Just snobby behaviour.
*Upstairs restaurant* Poor staff and sad food.
I would always rather post a positive review, but this place was shocking. The setting was wonderful, however the staff and food was out of place. The food was low end quality and high end priced. Staff were poorly trained and awkward. The management were careless. If you are an owner and reading this, don t skimp on food quality and happy staff, it really shows.
Ordered an Asian slaw salad. Sent it back because all I could taste was salt. It came back, 95% plain cabbage, a couple of strands of rocket, red cabbage and carrot. (Asked for no onion). Dressing was beyond plain. Tasteless, bland, nothing Asian about it. Great location, disappointed in food.
Poor service staff are rude and unhelpful wait time for food over 45 mins overall horrible experience
Flys everywhere sitting on water bottles in open air with no lids, cutlery and plates dirty, milk bottles left open for flys, in heat, dirty coffee area at front and staff are unprofessional and unfriendly. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't come back. Expected a bit more in general as a cafe/restaurant and for Brighton especially. The coffee was good otherwise
