Service was very good. Only there for a function so don't know about rooms
Service was very good. Only there for a function so don't know about rooms
Room was ok, bit small. No fridge, etc. Basics only. Clean room and comfy bed
Service was great. Parking is bad. Rooms are looking a little dated. WiFi speeds are terrible.
Great all around. Rooms were great breakfast & dinner wonderful & really liked the car valet. Was in Richmod for a funeral.
I had my wedding reception there and the staff was amazing. They went beyond great service and truly took care of us. One year later, they had champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries waiting for us in the room.
I would not come back to this hotel. I would recommend staying somewhere else that is more updated-- a chain like Holiday Inn or any Hilton branch. I highly recommend the Quirk Hotel if you have $300+/night budget as the service is excellent, clean, and offer $20 valet parking. It's a hassle to call from the room for the valet get your car, which can take up to 15-20 min. At Quirk, you can just have someone bring it around at the lobby, and it's never taken more than 10 min. The room is very spacious, with the living area across from the bed (definitely a plus!), but it's REALLY dark (very straining on the eyes) and the bathroom light isn't that great either, despite the fact that the bathrom is the brightest part of the room (ladies, good luck doing your makeup). We woke up with a $35 valet parking receipt slipped under the door, after initially being told it was $23 (very surprised to see our sedan being "oversized" vehicle on the receipt, so had to sort that out. Again, more hassle). There was also used mouth wash in the bathroom, which was pretty gross. The housekeeping staff should really make sure that they restock the mouth wash.
Love the old style feel of the neighborhood and hotel. Rooms are large. Restaurant is well known by locals. Love that there's a door man.
Visited the restaurant and ordered the Cherry Pepsi braised ribs w/mashed sweet potatoes and greens. The presentation was lovely, the sweet potatoes were amazing, the greens spicy and delicious, the ribs were not fork tender as I would have expected from this level of establishment. The server was pleasent, attentive and efficient. A special request was ignored and I chose not to bring it up a 2nd time as not to sully the evening.
0 stars. We stayed at room 505 there were ants all over the room. Ants were actually in our bed and on our phones when we woke up. We told the manager and she said she would take care of it. Of course they didn t do anything Expect transfer us to another room the next night. The next morning they promised us our room would be ant free that night. However of course the ants were still among us. The manager told us she would refund us but we would still have to sleep with ants. We took matters into our hands and just left at midnight. Do not come here it s disgusting and management doesn t care. Also, they change sheets every 3 days...gross
Great location right in downtown Richmond. The beds were very comfy. We did notice quite a bit of noise from the street and the walls seemed a bit thin. It didn't bother us too much and we were able to get a good sleep
Room seemed in a perfect location for going out to clubs. Just check bed for bedbugs because my room didnt seem to have any but i seemed we might have some.
Beautiful historic hotel located in downtown. Location was great and hotel is gorgeous.
Quaint, clean and quiet. Great place, excellent service.
Beautiful hotel in a urban part of Richmond. Great staff and comfy clean rooms.
We had the nicest dinner tonight. Our waitress Anna was awesome, dinner and wine delicious and the sweetheart at the front desk was a pleasure! Hope we have an opportunity to come back and spend a weekend. It looked like a ghost tour was just starting which would have been lots of fun.
Older hotel, but quaint. I wanted to do 3.5 stars but didn't have that option.
Great service and food with a beautiful balcony view of Richmond! Can be expensive but does come with a nice experience.
Was kinda disappointed with the view but, its downtown
Very good service, professional and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. I would only recommend them get new robes.. They have definitely gotten used a lot as they were rough feeling and kind of crispy feeling.. Almost like they were cummed on and not washed... I hope it was just worn a lot and not the second :\ I grossed my self out
The staff were very friendly. The room was neat and clean. Great location for walking around town for sightseeing and dining.
For the price, I was at least expecting a refrigerator. I guess you just pay more to be downtown .
We looked at the Berkeley for a block book of rooms for our wedding and it is a beautiful hotel. Emily was so accommodating and wonderful that we quickly decided we wanted to do a send away brunch in their beautiful dining room as well. It was so simple to set up, she had everything under control and was so responsive. We were amazed by the level of customer service so when my in-laws were looking for a place to host the rehearsal dinner, we suggested they talk to Emily. They also felt immediately trusting of Emily and decided to do the Rehearsal dinner at the Berkeley hotel as well. We couldn't be more thankful of those decisions! They were able to work with us on budget, decor, and even location for the events (we didn't want both to be in the same room)! Luckily they have plenty of options for event space! The food was also phenomenal! We got so many compliments from our guests about what a cute boutique hotel it was, how amazing their stay was and how delicious the food was. Emily made it all happen! She was such a joy that I can't wait to find an excuse to host an event there again! I've also had a number of guests say that they would stay there again in a heartbeat if they come back to town! Thank you to Emily and the rest of the Berkeley staff!!!
Comfortable bed, clean room. Valet driver was pretty rude.
I don't typically write reviews about many places because I'm not really floored too often. The Berkeley Hotel was a different story though. We had a private dining event/engagement party for my now fiancee this past Saturday. The food was great, the atmosphere was fantastic and they took care of EVERY request and need we had. The staff was unbelievable and it was truly remarkable to experience what incredible customer service looks like. I will continually recommend the Berkeley Hotel to any and everyone for any private dining experience! I honestly can't say enough about this aspect of the hotel!
Very nice accomodations, we enjoyed our short stay. Its in a great location. The evening staff's friendliness was lukewarm at best when we checked in, but the morning staff were very friendly.
Great accommodations right in down town close to good night life
Big rooms and great prices! This is a great place to stay without breaking the budget and it's right in Shockoe near everything. I would say the rooms probably need some updating, but other than that it's a great hotel.
Great Hotel! The room are quite old, but not old fashioned ugly way. It kind of part of the history. Is in the middle of the downtown. Very fancy and elegant. No pool or gym, but very comfortable. Highly recommended if you come from another state to visit Richmond, VA.
What a wonderful Hotel. The staff is amazing. Beautiful, the rooms are so accommodating. And one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. It's a boutique no so big and so it's a special place to stay. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Richmond. Location is perfect.
I will be back to Richmond and staying at the Berkeley for sure!
Older but charming hotel in the middle of downtown. Would stay again.
The rooms were quite nice and the staff very friendly and helpful.
One of my favorite Richmond hotels. Great location and comfortable accommodations.
Staff is super friendly. The hotel is beautiful. FYI there's no parking, room refrigerators or microwaves
Great rooms. Excellent front desk, valet and room service employees. Of course I don't why there is a phone in the bathroom
Booked the Berkeley for my cousin's bachelor party. The hotel is beautiful and clean and the decor has the right combination of modern and classic styling. The beds were clean and comfortable, the balcony offered great views, and the bathroom was large and modern. I booked through Expedia and the listing said it slept 6 in this suite but when we arrived we were told there was no pullout couch. I had specifically mentioned that 6 of us were staying but they only allowed us to have one cot, which we had to ask for. That was a bummer but didn't ruin our stay. Would go again but next time I'll book two rooms if there is that many people. It would have been nice if the hotel was more accommodating and hopefully they speak to Expedia to fix the incorrect information.
Great service, good location, food was okay but somewhat expensive
Great location and great staff service, rooms were very comfortable. The dining experience is slightly lacking and there are little amenities, such as no pool, spa, gym, business office. It can be noise at night as well.
The front desk staff was wonderful. Great rooms and bathrooms. No views though. Good food and service.
Mold smell in our room..hidden $50 a night parking fee..no free am coffee or breakfast, a fraudulent statement in Web site.
The Berkeley is located in the heart of downtown Richmond. It is conveniently located next to many restaurants and attractions. The room was clean and neat, but slightly dated in its bathroom fixtures. Hotel service was top notch and the rooms were always cleaned thoroughly.
Excellent restaurant for breakfast and great service...
Had a Christmas party there. Not as good as restuarant food. More like conference banquet food
Service was Good. Room was small for the $. Very loud guests.
Great boutique hotel..New York or Chicago style which is impressive for Richmond.
The rooms are small and tired. Our room had a tissue shoved in the peep hole. The ceiling was dotted with white touch up. Not sure why it wasn't completely painted. The bathroom toiletries we're very low quality private label. The bed seemed small for a king. The pillows were flat and hard. Upon arrival and check-out the bellman didn't even ask to help with our luggage and barely held the door open. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location and low room rate.
Booked one of the nicer rooms when they said pet friendly. When i got there they said only pets under 25 lbs. I said ill go somewhere else then the lady said, no they'll let it slide but id have to get a smaller room without balcony. The room was small and had a window looking at a brick wall in alley. Then i got my monthly statement and they charged $160 dollars for dogs for one night for a lousy room. No parking unless you use their valet parking at 25 bucks per. Told there was street parking but only blocks away.
Very clean, very satisfied. Comfortable bed and always love a beautiful bathroom with nice shower
The hotel was fine but the wedding and reception was so bad , everyone got the same sides only the meat was different, it began almost 1.5 hours late. It was so bad the groom was apologizing to everyone.
The staff is professional and courteous. Large and clean rooms and a central location, with a pretty lobby and a relaxing, non-chain atmosphere. Some street noise at night on the second floor due to the cobblestone streets in the district.
Beautiful hotel and superior staff. They are located in a cool part of town with easy access to other things close by. Great walking distance to downtown offices amd close to food. Will definitely be staying at this hotel again if I find myself in the area overall great experience.
Great boutique hotel. Breakfast was delicious and Jo was a fabulous server. She made my experience exceptional
I stayed here for a business conference and was very impressed with the hotel room. Staff were slightly unprepared for me when I arrived, but it was resolved quickly.
The most horrible experience in hospitality.
BEG BUGS on the 3rd floor. Room 301, 302, 303.
Me and my family stayed at the hotel made several complaints about the bed bugs.
Nothing was done we had to go to upper management where they refund our money two weeks later.
The Hotel was a little old (old) but of high quality. Tremendous customer service and is located in the city center of Richmond, VA. Nice experience and highly recommended!
Never stayed here, but I have worked inside. The place was amazing. Good for a weekend get away! Nestled in the heart of Richmond.
Breakfast was a little lacking but that's it. I was hoping for a breakfast only menu and got a brunch menu.
Awesome. But the pudding was.. I don't even know why they call that stuff pudding
Very quaint and cute hotel. Excellent staff, but it's old. Low (no) water pressure, no fridge in the room limited amenities. Still a great hotel for a getaway.
My husband and I made reservations at the Berkeley Hotel last week, and the experience was a mixed bag. The lobby felt charming, old-timey, and sophisticated, which paired beautifully with the historic Shockoe slip surroundings. The beds were big and comfortable and very clean. However, it didn't meet the level of luxury we were expecting, and the rooms felt quite outdated (but not in a sweet vintage way), and they didn't have a mini fridge which felt unusual. The reason I give 3 stars instead of 4 is because of the unhelpful desk attendant, Keonna. When we called to ask about parking- a very common FAQ for hotels, especially for one located in a downtown area- she said "I wouldn't know about that". Not only did she not have the knowledge, but she didn't offer to find out an answer or look into it. Furthermore, our room only had one robe, so we called down and requested another one. She said there wasn't much supply of robes, so we had to explain why we wanted a 2nd one for a 2nd person and requested one be sent up if possible. She said she'd look into it but never got back to us, even to tell us that she couldn't find one. The desk attendant in the morning was helpful and courteous, like night and day. I don't know that we will be coming back.
I stayed at the Berkeley Hotel in their room with a terrace on our wedding night based off the pictures from their website. The room I received did have a terrace but nothing else looked like the room I booked. The room they gave us was very small and not worth $280.00. I didn't expect the room to look exactly like the website but I did expect it to be the same in size. This was a special night and I wanted the best room they had to offer so I booked this months in advance. I spent $297.00 in all and it was not worth it. They called to offer me free stay or $75.00 gift card to their restaurant but at this point I'm so over the Berkeley. Also if you order room service they have to take you card down stairs to run it and bring it back, I was told they can't charge it to my room. If you ever come to Richmond, Virginia stay at The Jefferson(much nicer).
Great location right in downtown Richmond. The beds were very comfy. We did notice quite a bit of noise from the street and the walls seemed a bit thin. It didn't bother us too much and we were able to get a good sleep.
Very friendly and polite staff, great location - close to some great food and drink spots, rooms were very nice - updated and clean.
We would stay here again!
The stay was pleasant and enjoyable, despite the thin walls on our floor. The location was top-notch as it is in downtown and close to pretty much everything the city has to offer.
Good value, very friendly staff, wonderful rooms. We will be back.
Everything was great, with the exception of no parking. Being charged $25 dollars a day for them to park my car in a $5 parking garage is outrageous. But I guess people that can afford to stay here have the means for such bs
Room was great except for the coffee pot was missing coffee!! No other complaints. We had the romance package and the hotel staff accomodated us well!
Very nice, better quality than majority... City hotel, great location for city business.
Terrace room was actually a "shared terrace" Our shared terrace had not been cleaned. Bathroom outdated and no parking. Also received a coupon for the restaurant. Restaurant closed.
I love this place. It is located in a very walkable part of the city. It doesn t have some of the conveniences of larger hotels, but with everything so close, it doesn t matter. It has an older back in the day quaint feel to it. The Berkeley is my go to place when I am Richmond.
Disgusting, smelled bad, room was filthy- like mold, makeup on the door. Other people s hair everywhere. Dust. Does not seem like they ever clean the rooms by the level of dust everywhere
Staff was professional and courteous, hotel and room we're clean, and the location is great.
Overall good but clocks need to be reset. Didn't like the alarm at 6am on a Sunday!
Good location. Nice rooms, comfortable bed, nice restaurant.
Lovely room with friendly stuff members. Clean and convenient.
