Great rooms and amazing staff.
This would be an easy five stars, great location, great service, beautiful rooms, beautiful pool and spa, and the views of edinburgh castle are amazing. My only issue is the overly soft pillows. Otherwise, five stars all around.
Fantastic hotel, great staff, excellent breakfast. Located very close to prince's street so great for getting around.
Genuinely delicious food and wonderful staff, do yourself a favour and pop in for afternoon tea in the hotel restaurant
Lovely hotel but not that impressed with food choice available for a dinner night. No atmosphere.
Beautiful hotel next to Usher hall, 5 minutes to Princes street, 15minutes to Edinburgh castle.
Excellent service. Beautiful hotel. Relaxing atmosphere and close to the heart of the city. Special mention to David in the restaurant who was outstanding.
We visited for afternoon tea. Despite the fact that two of the three of us had dietary requirements, everything was catered for with a smile. Neither the gluten-free tea nor the vegetarian selection were in any way inferior to the standard selection which one of our party had and the service was excellent.
Clean, well run, modern and a short walk to Princes Street.
Great hotel but a bit away from the city center !! Comfortable beds ..
Very slow check in & unprofessional staff !! After all, the front desk manager was so supportive and helpful ..
Ask for the 7th floor club lounge access, if you stay here ..
.. .. !!
Staff were great...just what you'd expect from a 5 star establishment. The rooms however were disappointingly small and my main comment would be that there is no window to open...AC just doesn't do it...everyone like a bit of fresh air surely? Felt claustraphobic in a small room (poor view) that wasn't really any better than a Hilton for example...very well designed and the decor was uper that being said.
You get what you pay for! Superb hotel with spa access too. Perfect night here
I was there for a professional event but the hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly and the hotel looked nice.
Amazing property and good size however if you are getting castle view otherwise might not impress
Clean, comfortable hotel. Friendly and helpful staff
I attended a professional event here and was very impressed with the whole day. Food was delicious and though there were around 300 people it went flawlessly. Classy decor throughout. Great location close to Haymarket station too.
Had conference dinner and was well run venue. Food was not too bad either. Lighting weird.
Best hotel of Edinburgh, great service, lovely room.
We celebrated our friend bachelorette party during the tea time.
We spend there really nice time and we enjoyed our tea and pastries. The tea is delicious, the cakes and sweetness that accompanied the tea are delicious. A little bit pricey but exactly what we expected. After that we did not even have dinner so much we were satiated.
Visited for a conference, great venue, plenty of space with easy access
Great rooms and Club Lounge definitely worth the extra! Spa awesome. All staff very attentive and friendly. Special thanks to Renata Szczygiel, Natalia & Artur in Club Lounge and Oliver in Concierge who all went above and beyond to make our trip extra special. Thank you! Sunil Shah
My wife and I visited this hotel as we were given an itison voucher for a 2 course lunch and a glass of wine. The food was very good and the staff extremely friendly. We will definitely return!
Stay here. Don't pay extra for the "spa," the regular pool is plenty. Great room, great lounge on the club level - best high end hotel in town for a short stay (otherwise, Carlton Residence)
Fantastic staff, well-appointed, good food and one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in.
Lovely hotel with a good location and excellent fitness center.
Excellent location, professional staff, clean rooms, great breakfast buffet.
Absolutely a great hotel !
Everything was top starting from the staff at the reception (Maria) and the concierge (Claudio and Lucasz) to the room service. A special mention for the great club at the 7th floor and the unique features of the Spa.
Try to get a room looking at the castle. It is an unforgettable view.
Perfectly located next to the castle, the old town and the gardens it is the perfect hotel to stay in Edinburgh.
Another reason to come back to this beautiful city!
Fab...as always - from check in to the rooms to the lounge / gin bar to the rooftop spa to the restaurant, the facilities & staff here always make sure we have the best time.
Beautiful breakfast this morning! So much fresh produce, lovely selection of hot and cold meats and an abundance of fruit and cheese! Attentive waiting staff as always! Thank you again!
Lovely, well appointed rooms. Great spaces in a great location.
I have been here a number of times with work for meetings, events and the like but also managed to have a stay recently too! Yay for work!
The hotel is lovely and very modern with cool chairs and elegant decor through out. The staff are incredibly professional and really friendly too. Even when you go back to the cloakroom ten times for things you have forgotten!
We stayed for one night here and were given and upgrade to a beautiful room with a view of Edinburgh Castle.
It was sheer luxury with a huge bed and comfortable pillows. The room had an en suite bath and shower and dressing gowns and slippers were provided. Everything was spotlessly clean and all toiletries were provided. The room had a large TV, hair dryer, tea and coffee and everything you would expect from a hotel of this class.
The room rate included the use of the swimming pool and all spa facilities were extra. The pool was large and warm with great changing rooms - but you can go there from your room in your dressing gown.
Breakfast was amazing. Lots of choice and very well cooked despite it being a buffet, the eggs were still good. There was plenty of choice and a lovely restaurant overlooking Festival Square seems a good choice for sampling a cocktail from the menu next time I am passing.
Castle view from window of hotel is great. Recommended if you can afford it. Very near to rail station and other amenities. Rooms a tad small, but that's to be expected in a city centre hotel.
I am posting this review as I have been waiting for a proper response from the hotel. I am shocked at their initial response and deeply disappointed with how the matter has been handled.
As explained in my initial complaint to the hotel on the day of check out and in an email follow up. The faulty equipment provided in my room in their 5-star hotel resulted in my sustaining an injury, which although relatively minor in nature, could have been far worse. I refer to the ironing board in the room, which whilst I was using it, collapsed and landed on my foot. Fortunately, I was holding the iron at the time so it didn t fall on me but had I left the iron on the board whist rearranging the clothing, it too would ve dropped and could have seriously burned me.
It s clear that the ironing board provided in their room was not fit for purpose and as such should not have been cleared for use by whoever is tasked with the responsibility of checking such items. I have a photo of this faulty iron board and it was sent to a member of staff that checked us out. I would expect all hotels to carry out regular reviews of equipment supplied to guests, especially a hotel which supposedly prides itself on its 5-star service. It is evident that such a check was either carried out incorrectly or not carried out at all and that failure on Marriott Hotel s part falls well below the standard of care one would expect to receive from a chain of reputable hotels. One could even describe the failure as amounting to negligence on Marriott s part and it is only down to luck that that negligence didn t result in more serious injuries to me.
The flippant and dismissive way in which the response I was given, an email that I note appears to have been written in haste and without any great thought or attention purports to address my concerns is both insulting and derisory. The apology for the inconvenience suffered smacks of insincerity and does little to allay my concerns that this incident has been treated with utter contempt by your staff and I fear that a change in approach to the checking of hotel equipment, which is clearly required, will not be carried out, potentially resulting in the same thing happening to another guest.
I then requested that my complaint be properly considered by a manager rather than an uninterested employee. However, fours days later still nothing. Therefore they have left me know no choice other than to share my experience on various review sites and with any acquaintances who ever express an interest in visiting the Marriott Sheraton Grand Hotel.
Don t waste your money. This was suppose to be a really special treat and its left me feeling utterly disappointed and for the first time ever I ve had to leave a negative review.
Was there for a Christmas function, bland room setting with good starter and main but horrid dessert (banana ice cream?) Maybe just not for me or an acquired taste....
Almost in the center, very close to Old Town and Castle.
Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Room very nice and clean. The room service O.K. The cleaning staff works fast and clean.
Hotel is highly recommended.
Great Christmas night out. Staff were very friendly
Nothing much to complain but the castle-view room can't actually get a full view of the castle as it is suggested on the website. You can barely see the flag and part of the walls and that's pretty much it.
Expect for that everything is fine.
Friendly service. Made to feel welcome. Great hospitality. Simply top Class
Loved the steak sandwich. Nice gin selection as well. Good service.
Lovely food and staff very accommodating. Interesting events
Fantastic experience as ever. Attended a Thanksgiving banquet this time, for 100+ guests. Staff are some of the professional people I've encountered. Food was great, environment was perfect.
Its Fantastic Hotel. SPG PROPERTIES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MY FAV WORLD WIDE
Impeccable hotel service, great food, very nice room, the hotel has a wellness area, in short very good hotel I recommend it !!
Amazing hotel and staff. The pool area is lovely and the spa area amazing. Breakfast was perfect. A must visit and we will be back
Good service. Nice atmosphere and good view of the castle for some rooms
It's really the ultimate in hotel luxury The Sheraton, I defy you to find better in Edinburgh. I stayed with a girlfriend over the festivities one year and we felt so at home! I've been in a fair amount for work events, Christmas Parties, Awards Ceremonies and suchlike but nothing beats an overnight stay! You always know if you are invited to The Sheraton, you are in for a great night, the staff are super helpful and almost unseen. I've been here in the early hours of many mornings with diehard, 'won't go home' party goers and the staff have always made us feel at home, (or perhaps it was the champagne!)
The rooms are a good size for doubles and we had a nice view of the castle from ours. The nicest thing about The Sheraton is, and yes there is a 'nicest thing'. The nicest thing is access to its One Spa. Oh my it's luxurious! Oh my you want to stay forever! An outdoor spa on the rooftops of Edinburgh, it's as close to a NewYork lifestyle you will get! As an Edinburgh resident, it's the one jewel in the crown as I see it. If you stay here, you must upgrade to allow yourself access to this delight of the hotel. Stay here and enjoy every inch of the sumptuous luxury, or if you're visiting Edinburgh, visit for a drink in it's impressive, traditional Scottish foyer
You can definitely have a good time here. The bar and restaurant offer plenty options.
Modern hotel in central location. Spacious rooms and in my case with a view of Edinburgh Castle. It also has a spa with various types of saunas and a heated outdoor pool.
Great service at reception and lovely modern rooms.
Club room was spacious, the lounge was great but the spa is incredible. With plenty of thermal treatments and the rooftop thermal pool was definitely a highlight!
I have been to One Spa for 'Escape at One' twice and will definitely be going back again soon! The outdoor rooftop hydropool is amazing I had no idea that it was up there.
Fabulous hotel and location. Room with a view of the castle and access to the spa. Love the roof top hydro pool. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Great selection at breakfast, lovely. Excellent lunch. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Cannot fault it! We will definitely be back!
Love this hotel. Very central for Princes Street. Fabulous health suite with large rooftop thermal pool. Really nice buffet breakfast, but if you have booked with lounge access then small breakfast in cosy lounge available, and is more than enough for us. Lounge access pass seems expensive initially, however, it's the best equipped hotel lounge we have been to. Very comfy and numerous staff on duty to attend to you. Also with lounge pass you have the addition of the thermal pool and health suite access. Staff are great and even remembered us when we went back for a follow up visit. One of our favourites!
My husband and I stay at the Sheraton every year as part of an event we go to. Every year the service and standards are excellent and we e never been disappointed yet. The hotel has had a make over in the last couple of years and the decor really make the place something special. When you enter from the main door you are greeted by a beautiful atrium with a stunning light display. The rooms themselves don't disappoint either. They are very modern, spacious and very clean. One downside is that while they do look amazing the bathroom is surrounded by glass. This may not suit everyone as even the toilet is not very private. On the plus side the room does have some fab, coloured mood lighting that's always fun to play with. For an event the hotel is top class. Everything is well organised and always runs smoothly. The food has never disappointed even when they have to serve 350 people. If hosting an event I would highly recommend the daube of beef. It's always cooked beautiful, pleases most guests and the accompaniments are always incredible. One of the stand out features for me has to be the breakfast. Definitely steals the show. It is buffet style and there is a great selection on offer from hot to cold. My personal favourite is the waffles!
Sunday lunch is an absolute winner here. Will 100% be going back.
Scottish Malt Whisky Society Spirit of Networking event. Great night, well organised...yet again. Looking forward to the next.
Had an excellent stay
Room was a good size, shower was a good temperature and powerful. Annoying that the lead on the hair dryer provided was very short. The air conditioning was temperamental. 21 deg was freezing, 23 deg was roasting.
Complimentary tea and biscuits were welcome
Bed is comfortable but pillows really too soft
The room view was an internal courtyard, so a bit disappointing really
Breakfast was good, excellent choice, including haggis!
Had a spa treatment, full body massage. It was one of the best I ve ever had. The young lady was very knowledgeable, friendly manner.
The location is spot on, about 300yds from princes street
This place was amazing. We didn't get a room with a view of the castle, but it didn't matter. The room was incredible. Mood lighting in the tub area. The spa was worth every penny. We couldn't get a treatment that fit our schedule, so we just used the spa. I thought they were going to have to pull us out by our waterlogged feet. Each room was impressive, but the hydro pool was the best. The jets were massages in themselves and being able to swim through to the outside of the roof was really cool.
