Lovely coffee, scones and staff but tables need to be further apart and staff should be wearing masks. Didn't feel very safe or comfortable.

Quality and delicious food and nice staff! We went there for lunch on Easter and although very busy didn't wait for long! We had the soup of the day (peas and mint, just lovely!!!!), a sandwich, cakes and freshly juiced lemonade! Everything was delicious! very nice decor, a pity we couldn't eat outside with the view of the beach because it was too chilly for us, but may suit the most courageous ones! we'll try back when summer comes!

Coffee was great and the cakes delicious as always. Really good selection, the vegan options are great and always something new to try. The socially distanced set up is good inside and today we tried takeaway which was easy and quick (about a five min wait). Must try if you're in Portobello.

Such a nice Cafe.. amazing place with friendly staff. I've been there with my brother for his birthday and the food there was really good. I definitely recommend and I can say that the next time I'll go there I'll have some cake as well(cause it looked delicious ).

V nice place but staff can be a bit unfriendly (was told off for not waiting to be seated, when there was no sign to that effect near the door I came in by!) and also no WiFi, which surprised me a bit

The Beach House is just what Portobello needs - a fantastic, seaside cafe serving good coffee, cake and ice-cream. It's so popular it has now expanded into the space next door which can only be a good sign. It's a great place to go after a walk along the prom but boy is it expensive.

I had a really good iced latte here recently, and the ice creams are fab!

This was a lovely place for lunch the food was delightful, the cakes delish, lovely views of portobello.

Loved this place. Very busy, 10 minute wait to be seated. Varied menu. Home baking looked great. Staff friendly and helpful. We ordered 2 bacon butties and 2 cappuccinos. Service prompt and efficient. Rolls lovely and crisp and bacon tasty. They also have a baker's in the high street. We went there and bought several items which are also sold in the coffee shop. We bought scones, shortbread and almond biscuits. Delicious. We had a lovely day out.

Fantastic food. Nice staff. But didn't feel COVID safe inside - tables too close, I was sat at the corridor so people constantly passing and staff masks seemed too big for them, so noses hanging out and lots of fiddling with them. Would definitely sit outside next time (but even then the tables were quite close).

Very nice place. Bright with a relaxed atmosphere. Food is good but the menu is a little bit small and a bit pricey.

Very short wait to be seated at 1pm, we didnt book ahead. All the usual Covid restrictions were in place but they weren't intrusive. Nice lunch and decent coffee. There are outside tables right beside the beach for people who have their dogs with them. Great place!

A very cute restaurant, with attention to the smallest details of the furnishings.
The only thing that left me puzzled: the cakes on the table, beautiful and very good, had no lid. So much so that the waitress cut the slices for orders, leaving them on the table before taking them to the customers, and I could see that three times children approached, pointing dangerously at the slices of cake, and one sneezed on a slice. I could see it all because I was at a table nearby.
In addition, my friends and I ordered a piece of cake each, and we waited a good half hour for them to arrive, although we saw our ready-made orders on the saucers very well after a few minutes after the waitress took our order. standing in the table next to the cake table. And in that half hour, people approached the table, including dangerous children.
If this obvious hygiene problem were solved (by putting glass covers, for example), and expectations were reduced, I would easily give 5 stars, because the place is beautiful, the food is very good and the location is enviable: right on the seafront.

Good location and decor but customer service lacking, food wasn't served quickly, milk wasn't fresh and left lumps in the tea - it had gone bad from being left in the jugs on the table all day

This is a restaurant for tourists walking on the beach and I stood to take a cup of coffee and a piece of delicious cake and it was a really fun time and I invite those who go to Scotland to try passing there

Nice place, delicious espresso, vegan dishes and sweets on offer. Nice, relaxed atmosphere, smiling and friendly service. For this view from the window of the sea. A great place to stop during city walks and an hour of reading.

Good food and coffee but loses 3 stars as the staff are frankly awful.

They are welcoming serving good hot drinks and there cakes are GOOD too. The Beach House is as it suggests on the beach. Watch splendid sunsets, watch ships go by as you unwind with a favourite cup.

Perfect location, right on the beach. Good range of drinks (including ice cream and sorbets)and food and a great flat white. Always super busy which still seems to come as a shock to the staff; friendly but woefully disorganised. I really want to love this place but...

A beautiful stop along the beautiful promenade along the sea. A welcoming place, with large windows overlooking the sea, pastel colors, cozy and warm interiors, games for children and splendid desserts with excellent tea or with everything you want. If I ever go back to Edinburgh I will certainly come back to have breakfast in this nice place.

Great food & drink, desserts with tasty allergen free options. always busy - so get there early at lunch time, child friendly, super beach views.
Food is top notch, but some dishes can be a little small for the price - but its all home made breads and organic etc. so your money is well spent

Nice cafe and restaurant on the beach of Portobello. Vegetarian and vegan food possible. Little nice card. Good cake selection. Hot drinks and biscuits also to go. Very friendly and experienced staff. Day court. Great view of the beach and sea. Children welcome.

Picturesque window seat, delicious avocado & salmon toast with a chilli bite. Friendly waiting staff. An all round pleasant late breakfast experience.

Loooove this place, better for coffee and cakes than dinner. Very friendly staff but lots of forgotten details. Didn't mind much so didnt complain but would rate 3 star for dinner experience.

Cold . The food is overpriced not as good as bringing hall musselburgh.

Lovely cafe. We always end up going when it's absolutely rammed but I guess that's a good sign. Huge range of cakes and plenty of options for people with dairy or gluten allergies and plenty of kids choices. Rustic driftwood-style tables and a great atmosphere.

I had already had a wonderful cake here last year. This time, we had Bruschetta, frittata, ribs and beans. All good and it's one of v the few whose kitchen's open till late.

This place would be even better if it had a vegan menu. Bit of a disappointment there

What a brilliant coffee shop and eatery with beautiful views of Portobello Beach

went into the beach house on Portobello high street today, the staff are unbelievably rude, i asked for a coffee order and was spoken to like a complete idiot, aparently they were only selling bread and that "i should learn to read the board" saying all of this while standing behind a coffee machine!

Hospitality is all about freindly service, it should not be an expectation at these prices.... more like a guarantee.

Friendly, welcoming cafe on the beach front at Portobello with lovely views of the beach and the Forth beyond. Nice wholefood snacks and cakes with good coffee and a choice of smoothies.

Hot chocolate was perfect, Cake apple & walnuts amazing Stuff very nice.

Had some takeout coffee and cake here. Would definitely recommend for the location and quality. They worked through a big queue quickly and clearly are popular for a reason! A real highlight of a good trip to the beach. They offer different milk types (at least soy) too if that helps.

They have not put in place any protective measures for COVID-19. There is not enough distance between the tables, the waiters are not wearing a mask which means that the business is putting the employees at risk. Absolutely ridiculous

Cakes are delicious coffee slightly bitter but I do like going to the beach house it's clean pretty and service is good.
