Steampunk is a gem of a coffee stop on Scotland's golf coast, with bare brick walls, metal pipes & flues everywhere, lots of windows & light creating a spacious but cosy enough atmosphere.
Tomato & cashew soup delicious & just the right temperature to eat straight away, you know not nuked in the microwave. Coffee (flat white) & vegan banana loaf just magic, beautifully moist the loaf choice was difficult as there were loads of good options e.g. brownies, carrot cake, chocolate cake etc.. all looking tasty & the flat white was not too milky, no sweetening needed, perfect.
Background music excellent maybe just my taste, playing at the moment The Wombats moving 2 NY. I'll be back very soon on some more Scottish experiences with Chauffeur Services Scotland.

We were told there was a 25 minute wait for coffee and a sandwich due to staff shortages. I counted 7 staff for around 40 customers. Absolutely ridiculous considering the sandwiches were premade and in a glass cabinet. This is the result of letting hipsters run a cafe. Good coffee ruined by incompetence

Awesome coffee shop set across two floors in a converted warehouse. It looks incredible, especially with the lighting and mezzanine. And of course the coffee is first class and they have a small but tasty food selection.

Sadly not able to review food and drink as they were all out of savoury treats at half 1 on a Sunday. When they advertise such a limited menu, one would expect enough ingredients to at least keep producing soup. Decor and atmosphere was very appealing, so we'll definitely head back for a 2nd go at some point!

One of the coolest coffee shops I've ever visited. Such a cool industrial vibe and such a cozy place for a coffee and snack on a rainy day. Not sure why people are complaining about service. My husband and I ordered latte's and different desserts, sat upstairs, and got the order within 5 minutes. If you're looking for a quick drive thru starbucks experience, then go to a starbucks. But this place had great coffee and such a unique vibe in the cutest little town. I wish there was one in the states where I'm from! I meant to buy a steampunk mug and forgot. Am bummed about that. Def 5 stars!

Forget about Starbucks or Costa, this is the place to go, tucked away in a back street in North Berwick.
Place is full of character at every turn, mesmerising every time I go in.
Great coffee and tea, croissant s are superb along with the cheese toasties.
Friendly staff and cannot recommend highly enough.

Great atmosphere, and pretty good food/drink.

Portions are a bit on the small side. Ice lemonade is great, but glass is for ants, so ends up on the expensive side for what you get.

Large table sup stairs can accomodate large(ish) groups.

Maybe I went in with high expectations after all the recommendations, but was disappointed in my experience. Service was slow, (even the person taking orders), which I wouldn't mind, but then saw workers interested in chatting with each other and their friends(or regulars?) Instead of working.
Also the design of the place, with the placement of stools and chairs/tables made it difficult to find anywhere to stand and wait for my coffee.
However, the coffee was very nice and all of the food displayed looked delicious.

Not that great bit disappointed by the coffee tasted slightly burnt. We came in after a cold run for the warmth and atmosphere. Sadly the log burners weren t going so we sat beside an electric halogen heater on in the corner.

Found this to be overpriced, prices not on display, furniture and seats antiquated and unsafe. Dishes and cutlery mix and match, lucky if you get knife to cut toasting or fish knife. We had trip down memory lane to North Berwick but were deeply disappointed with this restaurant .

Staff were friendly enough, and the coffee was nice. Completely let down though by overpriced sandwiches, small coffees and a decor that is dirty. I don't mind the industrial look but the chairs looked like they had been sourced from a dump as hadn't been cleaned. Going for an 'artisan vibe' should not be an excuse to provide seating that's needs a good clean and rickety tables!

Shabby chic - sticky tables

Shabby chic - sticky tables
I'm no fusspot, I'm cool about the tatty vibe, but rest your arms on the table and you have to rip your sleeves off the surface. Let your bare skin touch it and it's like sitting on a vinyl seat in shorts. And oh my goodness if you put a piece of paper down, you'd swear it had been glued to the wood.
Wiping down the tables every now and then isn't going to ruin your ambiance, and your customers won't be quite so grossed out.

If like me you are a coffee lover then this is the place to drink it in North Berwick! They make their own blends on the premises which in themselves are quirky with a great feel and ambience about the place. The staff are very friendly and efficient with great service. All in all a great place to hang around and chill for a bit...or more than a bit ! Love it !!

Great cappuccino, oat hot choc, breakfast tea, carrot cake and giant cookie. All good, staff friendly, it was warm next to the wood burner. There are eco friendly, handmade wallets, plant hangers. Also could purchase gadgets for coffee fanatics

Over priced. The place has black mouldy walls and rickety furniture with badly stained upholstery. Looks like it was pulled from a tip. Our table tilted about 30 degrees every time someone leaned on it. Not great when there's hot coffee on the table.

Excellent place to do a bit of work, admire the scenery, or just sit back and relax! They have expert machines, experienced batista's and a wonderful client base. I've seen cycling groups stop here mid trip, motorbike boys stop and compare set ups, and even humble walkers, fresh from a trip up the law. I'd recommend this place to anyone!

I am head over heels in LOVE with this place and that might be a slight understatement... after the disappointment of my last visit to North Berwick when they were still based at the Den, it was with slight trepidation that I ventured to their new digs..

That all went out the window when I spotted the blackboard from the street and saw the lovely building they've moved in to. All doubt was erased even before I opened the doors.. Steampunk properly has a 'home'!

The bike on the wall, the butler's sinks with bottled cold drinks.. the cakes presented on slate tiles.. I couldn't get inside quickly enough.. (aside from having to stop and take a photo of course!)

Once inside.. that GORGEOUS La Marzocco machine with its neon red glow and Steampunk's logo etched into the side (it's wooden crate still outside being testament to how recently they've opened), the hessian bags of coffee piled high next to a lovely Probat coffee roaster.. the mismatched old armchairs around an old stove.. I couldn't quite decide what to do with myself!

We mentioned we were after food and were directed upstairs.. the modern mezzanine is kitted out with large dining tables and proper dining table chairs with a couch and two armchairs around a coffee table next to yet another old stove in the corner.. the kitchen is 'open plan' and you can see exactly what's happening and watch your food being dished up.

A lamb stew & a beef stew were on the menu and both were delicious and served with the most amazing seed/nut bread. No butter required thank you very much.

The coffee was as always, super amazing.. there's really no words that will tell you how good the coffee is.. you just need to try it for yourself. I then moved on to a pistachio rooibos tea which was equally scrumptious and great with my orange cake.

It's worth it to drive the hour from Edinburgh for their coffee alone, but with these sweet new digs.. I forsee many trips to North Berwick this summer..

ps. even their bathrooms are awesomely cool.. seriously.. this place = ah-maze!

Possibly one of my favorite coffee shops in Scotland. Incredible coffee and baked goods, dog friendly, and cozy space with outdoor seating. Not only is the coffee great, but the owner went above and beyond when I ordered coffee and a mug for my partner.

You might think you are have been transported to the uber cool Williamsburg, NY when you enter Steampunk but instead of the jetlag, you can get some amazingly fresh ground coffee, to-die-for homemade cakes and a small but perfectly formed lunch menu. The interior is very cool - all reclaimed and vintage bits and pieces which makes this place an absolutely go-to destination if you are in North Berwick.

Perfect! And I'm hard to please. The funky and friendly atmosphere, great service, fabulous food and amazing coffee were quite literally perfection. How did they manage to make lentil and coconut soup taste light and refreshing instead of heavy and cloying? Genius! One of the best soups I've ever had, and I've eaten a LOT of soup. Great range of vegetarian and vegan filled rolls, toasties, bagels and savoury muffins, and baked goods which are a dream come true: gorgeous flavours and textures, and not too sweet. I can't wait to go b ck. Again and again and again and again.

It's a very small little coffee shop with not much in the way of food, but the coffee alone is certainly worth a visit!
The quality is off the charts. Doesn't even require sugar. Had a chat with (who I assume is the owner) and he's very friendly and passionate about his coffee - more than happy to explain what makes it so good to you.

Just a note- cash and zapper only. No cards!

This place has character. Yes this is just off the main street next to a car park. Don't be fooled. It is better than the Costa for feel factor alone. Great service. Good coffee and tea. Surprisingly good sized menu for food.

Staff very friendly. I was surprised at so many staff were working mid week. It was busy so that tells me all. Great outside area to sit in sun in the morning and lunch time.

This had seating and tables upstairs.

Toilets very clean.
