Love this place, friendly staff great food and of course fabulous views. I often pop in just for coffee if i'm in Portobello it's a very busy shop but it's still worth the wait

The Beach House Cafe opened 10 years ago and is very popular with grown-ups and kids alike. Bight and
Airy premises, wooden tops painted in pastel blue, beautiful display of freshly made cakes. We had the apple cake and the Guinness cake. Generous slices served on clean plates. Friendly staff. Will definitely go back again.

Good coffee, great food, lovely atmosphere and friendly helpful staff, all while you enjoy the fabulous view!

Love to be here! Friendly atmosphere, little bit slow service , but amazing retrospective to the sea side. Good food, testy coffee, " good bay diet" cakes ! Highly recommended.

I really really want to like this place, but the shortcomings are getting annoying.
The cakes are wonderful, and their Chocolate Tree ice-cream even better, but
The coffee is pretty rough - it would be great if they looked into better providers, considering the price.
The staff was never very friendly, but it's getting worse, and their lack of organisation is very frustrating when it's in evidence even at quiet times.

Not sure if this is ever going to change, because their prime location in the prom and having virtually no competition leaves them immune to any complaints - and I know of a lot of people who are really fed up with the place!
Maybe one day we'll all stop going, and that would be a shame because the cakes and the ice-cream are sooo good.

Ordered a red velvet cake. Found it really different. It was too sweet to enjoy and couldn't eat it. Quite pricey but a nice clean place. Nice to provide water at the table the water had cucumber and mint.

Don't often post, but this has been a great experience. Lovely and friendly service, charged my phone when it died and gave me directions to the town hall so I can get my bus home. Can't wait to take friends here!

Pretty lovely cafe with friendly staff. They have outdoor beachfront seating as well. We got quiche, millionaire's pastry, elderflower drink and I forgot the name of the third dish :P.

I would totally recommend this place.

Quite disappointing given the hype. We had a bacon roll and a coffee. It was fine, nothing special but it was expensive compared to anywhere else around.

I don't know what it is in their chai iced tea that is so god darn delicious. Seriously, best one I ever had. Would have like to see more cheesecakes or tarts in their dessert menu.

Table service VERY slow, unorganised unfortunately. What we had was lovely but would think twice about going back.

Very nice ambient inside and outside. It's literally in front of the sea. Perfect for lunch or breakfast. The sandwich are very tasty and not boring with a good mix of meat and vegetables. The waitress was polite and funny. The only thing is that is the weather is good it's full and you have to wait.

Good food and a great selection of cakes. outdoor seating on the promenade which is great in the nice weather but beware of stray dogs stealing food!
Can get very busy so I would get there early - more choice of cakes too!

Nice place, could do with a member of staff greeting waiting customers & setting expectations on seating times etc as it was busy, waited for a good wee bit before we were advised what to do , despite asking, plenty of staff there to do this, would help the flow in & out

I went there (a few days back) with a friend and we were unfortunately ignored by the staff for 25 whole minutes after an otherwise friendly waitress seated us. We just left and went to a place across the street. We noted that it wasn't particularly busy at the time as it often can be, so we aren't sure why we were ignored. We wanted to enjoy the experience, so quite a pity...

Lovely dog friendly pub-restaurant. Great food and friendly staff. Ausie theme. Even have a book exchange shelf!

Cheery atmosphere, very popular, great coffee and cakes. Prices can be a little high but everything is fresh and good quality.

Fabulous location, get a window seat. Often mobbed at weekends and on sunny days. Good atmosphere, coffee, cakes all good but on the expensive side, service generally good but can be oh so slow when the sun shines and the place is full. Understand they are expanding into neighbouring space.

This place does not need advertising, and therefore often there are no places, especially for lunch. Amazing food selection! I love your soup and bread! ... and you can get lost when choosing sweets and cakes...My favourite place for spring and summer breakfast outside...

Food is great but, given how busy it always is, service isn't always brilliant.

The perfect beach cafe right by the sea with great views and outdoor seating. Expect it to be busy any day that the sun peeks through the cloud. Very good quality cakes and food, expect higher end prices.

Perfect for a quick bite - full Scottish breakfast or just coffee and (homemade) cake. Large, bright, right on the prom with lovely staff and lovelier food.

Not serious about Covid, no pre booking, no orderly queuing system for take away nor for outside tables. Staff don't wear masks. Waited a couple of minutes, observed to chaos and decided to "Avoid crowded places"

First time having lunch at the Boat house Portobello fish & chips amazing all home cooked and freshly made would definitely recommend can t wait to come back with family & friends

Lovely cafe facing out to the beach. It has a varied choice of food and drinks and are able to cater for the majority of food in tolerances. Was quite busy when we went which was a good sign. Given 4 stars as was good place but took a while to get served and was very close to the tables next to us.

Bacon rolls a bit dry. Could do with more butter on both sides of the roll considering the price charged.

Is my favourite port of call for Breakfast while up in Edinburgh... Amazing food, friendly service and great views! What else could you ask for!

Just sat there for some hours, looking through the window on the rainy beach and eating their delicious food (cakes!)
