Sara is simply the best! Great personality, style, skills, and I love her so much, I drive all the way from Chelsea to get my hair cut by her.

Located off South Washington avenue and the heart of REO town. It is a salon and spa. Plenty of parking with handicap parking accessible. Call them for an appointment or go online. They have a great website and you can make an appointment from there. They offer natural products and positive energy. Good vibes here. Staff is friendly and very helpful.

I ve been shopping around for a colorist for a while so I could make the transition to redhead (probably too long given my before picture haha). Sara was an absolute wizard. She made sure to consult with me both before and at my appointment and made the effort to do all her research to get me just the right shade of red. She made for great company over the long process and made the whole experience fun. Thank you so much for your talents, Sara! The atmosphere is so relaxing and friendly. Kudos to the owner who chose the decor. It s so warm and welcoming.

She took my indecisive description of needing something "new" and gave me a fresh style and perfect-for-me ombre color. (And she is great with my children's hair too!..bonus!!) Absolutely the BEST salon in Lansing. All the stylists are up to date on the latest techniques and styles and the atmosphere is friendly and cool. The owner, Jason Franks is the absolute best at color! If you are in need of a new stylist, Artisan is the place to go.

I see Erik, he does wonderful things to my hair. From what I have seen the others are good as well. Great building.

I came in for a consultation to change my hair color and style and Jason was an excellent host. Greeting me and offering their new beverages as well as talking to me about all the new tea flavors they had just received.

Then I met with Ashley, the stylist who was so wonderful. She talked me through my different options in going from a red color to a blue color, and was realistic with me about what I should expect. She helped me decide on a hair cut length, and I left the salon loving my new look. I will definitely go back again.

Jason and the entire staff are phenomenally talented at their craft and committed to their clients. Gorgeous space, without the pretensions of other high end salon. LGBTQ friendly.

Couldn't ask for a brighter atmosphere of beautiful diversity and such talent in one business. Jason and all are incredible, friendly and amazing at what they do and how they do it. The atmosphere at the Artisan Company is wonderful, everyone is so nice and personable. Brittany is an amazing hair artist, since the first time I went to her she understood what I wanted done with my hair and did an amazing job. I recently had Reiki done with Brittany and it was a wonderful edition to my hair service. I felt calm and peaceful once my reiki service was complete. I highly recommend the Reiki service for any person an especially moms!

This was my first time coming to this salon & from beginning to end my experience was great! I was greeted promptly with a smile when I first entered, was told about the different services offered at the salon & was also offered something to drink. The atmosphere was pleasant, very clean & the staff were all nice. It s nice to walk into a place of business & not feel like just another customer in a chair, but to feel really valued as an individual and walk out feeling beautiful with beautiful hair! I absolutely LOVE the atmosphere and people at the Artisan Company. They all make you feel like family it is the most amazing feeling! Brittany Farley is also one of the best stylist I have ever had do my hair. every single time my hair looks and feels amazing. This is my forever salon!

What a terrible experience! I went in to have my roots colored to cover the gray. Courtney was my stylist and destroyed my hair color. I left the shop with a wet head and roots that were bleached and not the color of my hair! I am very upset and displeased with the service I received. After she realized that she messed up my hair, the owner Jason tried to resolve the issue by asking if he could put a different color in my hair. At that point I was furious and wanted no one else in that shop to touch my hair, I had no trust in them after they allowed a new, inexperienced stylist to PRACTICE on my head. As the owner talked to me, the other stylists stood around and just watched as if I were a side show. I will never advise anyone to go to this place. And to make matters worse...I felt as if they never had a black woman enter their doors for service because a guy stylist continued to name every black actress he could think of as I sat waiting to be disappointed. I won t go as far to say that they were prejudice, but definitely not cultured or diversity trained in that shop! SMH

I see Shelby and she does an amazing job coloring my hair. Everyone here is really nice, and they have a handicap accessible room and bathroom.

Love the salon and all of the stylists. Vibe is super chill, and relaxing and everyone is so friendly. Highly recommend going here for all your needs. The skills each stylist has is different and unique. It has big windows for lots of natural light and the decor is so cute. Brittany Farley is my main girl there and she always makes me feel and look like a million bucks when I come out of there. You won t be disappointed going here!

I really like this barber shop. I picked it up and chose Ashley as my hairdresser. In this area, this is my favorite barber shop. The barbers don't feel like "downstairs director Peter." Everyone is very cool. Especially Ashley. The haircut is a little careless. But true nature. The massage before each haircut is really comfortable.
The price is good. not cheap. Get 50 knives at a time (including tips). But the effect can still be guaranteed. Especially if you can take your own idea to get a haircut and accumulate it, you can still form an image that suits you.

Highly Recommend Sara Upshur. Fabulous place, love the decorations, easy parking, and the great hair skils and knowledge from Sara. Like them on Facebook!

All of the people who work here are amazing at what they do. The prices are great as I was expecting to pay much more at a high end salon like this one! I will be a forever client and always recommend them to anyone. The vibe and atmosphere is so friendly and welcoming, it's like a big family.

I was far less than impressed. I have been to quite a few hair salons and this one was by far the worst. It has been about a year since I had my hair cut and colored by the owner. I asked for balayage and I definitely did not get it, instead I got an ombre that only flows on the first layer of my hair. When I put up half of my hair it goes straight from my natural hair color to blonde and the underside of my hair has absolutely no blonde in it at all. To make matters worse he did it in such a rush that my hair became fried a few weeks later and I have been working to get it healthy again since then. My hair has grown hardly 3 inches becuase my hair is so unhealthy from the treatments. Then to top it all off, in the beginning he told me it shouldn't be more than around $100 the first time I came and $80 the second time I came, but it ended up being around $350 when it was all done. He also could obviously tell that I am younger since I mentioned it was for a school event with some friends, but he still proceeded to charge me way over what he said it would end up being. It was also the most awkward experience ever, he barely talked to me or made conversation so I sat there in silence the whole time because every attempt to make conversation failed or ended in an awkward silence. Definitely not going back and I would never reccommend this place to anyone.

I got a balayage and cut from Brittany and I am so happy with the results. She put a lot of time and effort into everything she did, and it shows. The price was very reasonable for the amount of time it took and how great my hair looks.

I love Jason, Erin, and all the friendly stylists here! I always feel welcome and return month after month. If you're looking for color, they are the experts!

Very relaxing vibe here. Big on the art scene and showing off local artists. Recommend Bella Belknap if your getting your hair done or brows, she's amazing!

I had a massage here with Caryn and it was great. She was very responsive to what my body needed. I am recovering from a back injury and this was very helpful. I made an appointment for another session would recommend her to my friends.

The Artisan salon is amazing! As soon as you walk in the door you are greated by friendly smiling faces and a beautifully styled display area. Upstairs is a comfortable welcoming environment where you are offered refreshments while you are being pampered! All of the staff is amazing at their craft and I cannot say enough about how much they make you feel like a part of their family! Love them!

This is the cutest salon! I love the look and vibe of this place. There are large windows and lots of natural light. The decor is beyond adorable, a kind of modern and eclectic mix. Like bringing the feel of a warm sunny day inside. There is even a wall made of grass... right?! The products offered are Davines- made in Italy and all natural- they smell so good! And they sell beautiful jewelry!
My stylist, Shelby Danielle, is amazingly talented. She tames my thick, curly hair with the cutest cuts and I always get tons of compliments. She is also a skilled color artist, who isn't afraid of a challenge!!! Win Win!

As the warmer weather has made its presence, I had a strong urge to chop off my long locks. I was a bit nervous, but Sara Upshur put me at ease as soon as I sat in the chair. She listened intently as I described the look I was hoping to achieve and offered suggestions along the way. The result: a bob cut that exceeded my expectations. I'm so happy I went through with the cut and that Sara was the one to do it!

New to the area, travel a lot for work and this place is the best hair care escape for me. Beautiful inside and out. Super clean and amazingly friendly staff. Needed a cut and balayage touch up for my hair since it had been months since my last anything at a salon, lol. Sara was INCREDIBLE!! I honestly can't say enough good about her. Great prices and better quality work than I've had at high end salons in LA. Artisan is a Gem!

Erik transformed my hair from an ugly bronze brown to an ash blonde. Posh atmosphere, a little expensive but worth it. I will be coming back.

Amazing people who make getting your hair done a great time and do a fantastic job plus the best coffee and tea selection around but don't forget to tip the salon assistant when you leave!
