Great exhibitions and cafe. Very helpful gallery attendants.
Great exhibitions and cafe. Very helpful gallery attendants.
I visit every time I go to Sydney. They have rotating exhibitions. I saw Frida Kahlo de Rivera; it was really good.
It is wonderful we have a word class gallery here, so accessible and free!
Love the mix of permanent art gallery and changing exhibitions.
Amazing artworks always love going, 2019 HSC artworks , from the art express are as innovative
If you like modern and contemporary arts this is the place to go. This is one of the biggest museum in city, so you can wonder around and spend your time easily. Also good place to take pictures for your Instagram.
Well, it was free and nice. But I dont like art anyway.
I guess its the biggest art gallery in AU. Better than other galleries on the continent but very weak when comparing with Europenian competetors
Fall in love with some piece or art with each visit. The Art After Hours is often worth a trip too.
Beautiful exhibition of Aboriginal art and storytelling, which I found inspiring and educational. History books don t really reveal as much information and pain our indigenous peoples have suffered.
Dropped by from spending time sitting on the famous Mrs. Macquarie s Chair. General admission is free. Walking around the spectacular art collection is a relaxing way to spend the afternoon away..
First time there and had a wonderful time. Thoroughly recommended.
Inspiring art, fantastic exhibit of Japanese supernatural.
Tours & staff helpfulness - fantastic. Wheelchairs available.
Magnificent art that starts right from the moment you walk in. Some iconic pieces are right there. The current Hermitage exhibition is remarkable. The beginnings of many turn of the century art movements.
Absolut fantastic place.
I've visited this place now two times with roughly 6 months in between, both times I didn't need to pay an entrance fee and I was able to get impressed by two complete different collections. It was amazing and inspiring. Thank you
Poor custom service at cloak. Poor attitude and mentality. No sense of responsibility .
Joined the free tour at 1pm with Robyn; was up there as one of the best gallery tours I've been on. Loved it!
The gallery is light, bright, interesting and thought provoking. A must visit!
Amazing gallery. Diverse range of art from different cultures and movements
A good variety of works. Plenty of space. No crowds like galleries elsewhere. Worth a visit.
An installation that figuratively and literally encapsulates the cloud of death from Maralinga
No trip to Sydney is complete without a visit to the Art Gallery of NSW. Adjacent to the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens, this free venue is full of historic art. There are also paid exhibits from time to time. In fact, this would be a fantastic place to visit during the summer, if only for the air conditioning!
Keep an eye out for special and ticketed only events. They're worth it, particularly if theatre is included in the experience.
Lots of interesting art pieces and a variety of things to look at! Nice location and settings for the museum!
Brilliant free-of-charge exhibits waiting to be explored!
A perfect way to spend the day - relaxing, entertaining, informative and totally enjoyable
Excellent staff - always helpful
Recommend everyone takes a visit at least once a year
You can spend a full day here if you love art and its history
It's a shame you have to pay to see the exhibitions..
Great experience. Parking costs $8.70/hr on the street which is outrageous in my humble opinion. We went on a Sunday and decided to park in the domain car park. $12 all day and a very short walk to the gallery. Entry to the gallery is free and you an get up close to some of Australia's most iconic paintings. Gallery staff might consider being a bit nicer to children who get too close to paintings. Reducing them to fearful tears was too much. Not a good start to their life as art appreciators.
Great exhibition of John Olson paintings. A must see
Fantastic to visit this place from time to time. Great exhibitions and huge range of art and artists.
Beautiful building, interesting exhibitions, and it's free entry to the normal galleries. There's a very nice Cafe as well downstairs.
Always great expositions, artists and space. Don't forget to check the Archibald event every year. It's definitely a must do.
Fun day out, lots to enjoy seeing. Also the cafe has lovely soy lattes and delicious food.
Absolutely amazing place. So much history and arts to be thrilled about. Great location good Cafe. A place to get lost in time.
Meow! I love that most of the gallery is free to the public. It s so refreshing to stroll through and look at the art work. The changing exhibitions always show me something new. Great gallery shop with so many books! 5 paws
The nude and other displays like the Archibald are fantastic to view.
Great collection of historic art pieces from around the world. The aboriginal work was brilliant. Must visit.
Fantastic array of artworks across both classical and modern styles. Logical floor plan and layout that handles the many hundreds of visitors daily, and an ever changing array of artwork making repeat visits a real treat. I highly recommend visiting during the Archibald Prize exhibit however it is worth a visit all year round.
Very nice could spend all day there an art lovers heaven
Impressive. And free! Highly recommend even for the casual browser without much time.
I am European and compared to the museums in London or Paris, I was quite unimpressed ..
World class gallery... variety of exhibitions. Comfortable facilities
Beautiful place,a lot can be learned about history of Australia through amazing paintings
Incredible place! I recommend 100% the visit to this "experiment" on the different artistic and cultural tendencies. Without a doubt it is a space not only for information, but for interacting with art and its expressions.
The number and quality of exhibitions has greatly improved. Eating at the restaurant is expensive and not great quality. Feels like a cafeteria of times gone by. Gallery needs to be bigger.
Although I participated in a Japanese tour, the explanation of the guide is very easy to understand & funny, so I think that people who are not interested in architecture can enjoy it without getting tired.
Just a 30 minute tour is a bit expensive .... A souvenir is also expensive. Lol
If you are a bit cheaper it's five stars.
Beautiful offer of contemporary art and some tops in the collection
this place isn't very kid friendly, it has more adult things, but you will find kids here.
Perfect, don't forget there are more things under ground.
Great!!!!
Lovely art
For art lovers. Great place. Parking at domain car park and walk out.
The Archibalds so worth the visit from Qld especially. Very helpful staff providing a motorised scooter for my husband.
It is a nice art museum, it can t be compared to European art museum such louver , however the good part of this museum
1- it is free entrance , unless you want to see some exhibitions . For example during my visit they had Japanese natural exhibition .
2- you can find good and nice collection of European paint work and sculptures .
3- most of their staff are friendly.
The negative part it was crowded Museum suppose to be a quite and relaxing place people were talking so loud especially tour people . I felt I was at fish market .
2- they don t have audio guidance .
3- this for gift store , they should have a book or booklet describes all the paint work at museum.
If one day you get a chance to visit Sydney, then I recommend to visit this museum .
One of my favourite galleries in Sydney. The collections/exhibitions are always very interesting.
Back from Germany for a few weeks went to the gallery and saw a Modigliani didn't see one whilst away. Excellent collection.
Awesome experience; went to the Wednesday night opening to check out the Art Express entries; it's a great idea to have the gallery open at a night session. Enjoyed the talks and the live music as well
