FUN-tastic!

You've got to love the Dungeon, a thrill-seeking live show by great actors, enacting the horrors of the dark ages in Dutch history, some 500 years ago. If you haven't cleared your lungs for a long while, this is the place to be. Scream and shout! So spook-tacular that you can't believe the men in our group were cowering to perform what the actors were telling them. Yes, all done in almost complete darkness, with spectacular sound and lighting effects. But don't let that grip you because it's all part of the thrill and entertainment you signed up for. Audience participation adds excitement and eases up the fear... that funny thing they just said about. The Torture Chamber is my favorite. The door opens and the keeper (a female) of the torture chamber says, "Don't touch me, don't touch me"! in her throat-gripping voice. She walks out of the door with the sound of a heavy chain you almost think is going to coil around you, and asks everybody to sit down, chooses a male participant and demonstrates how one "guilty"person is strapped on a chair surrounded by torture devices. A huge pliers heated on a burning coal to pull out the tongue, an appendage cutter placed near the male's groin and shown how the device is used. What more do they do in that chamber? not only decapitate you, but turns you with your bum up and you'll know the rest!

The day we were there, the show ended with MURDER ON THE ZEEDIJK, set in July 1733, about two sisters- Helena and Dina who both fell in-love with the same sailor. The rivalry ended with the death of Dina. With extremely great sound and lighting effects. It left us screaming when Dina appears in front of you at the flash of a lightning! Just as you are warming up to things in the Dungeon, the journey has ended. I might have missed the roller coaster ride that brought us to a fun finale many years ago when I first visited, this one is just as good, but a bit shorter. The ride has been closed since 1/5/2014 and will not come back again.

The Amsterdam Dungeon is built inside a historical church owned by the Dutch Reformed Church. Neo-gothic elements of the church architecture dating from 1912 are still visible inside.

The Amsterdam Dungeon is located at Rokin 78, a good walking distance from its sister attraction, Madame Tussauds along the Dam Square. From Amsterdam Centraal, take Trams 4,9,16,24. Stop in Spui/Rokin.

You take a journey through the gruesome stories of Amsterdam. Unfortunately, the good acting made it difficult to understand much of the stories. Still very funny and well done!
Inquire about combination tickets, then it will be really cheap.

Loved it, some shows are quite intense (not gonna spoil anything) and most are just downright funny. Had hoped for a bit more historical information though, they kept it to the surface in that regard but all in all real fun and recommended!

We were already in Hamburg in the dungeon and a visit to Amsterdam was not allowed to pass the dungeon! Very nice, scary and funny! Multicultural! The guide is in English and very easy to understand. I recommend to buy the tickets in advance online, so you can just go in and go :)

Interesting visit. It is a museum where you can find various torture instruments used in history with their respective explanations in various languages including Spanish. I missed an audio guide with more extensive explanations (and also because the light inside the museum is reduced for reading). A little more interactive content is also missing. But apart the museum is interesting to visit.

Fun place in the center of the touristic area of Amsterdam. You should check for deals to visit a group of atractions. But because you go through cramped, dark, and scary areas it is not for everybody!!

a must.

It was really good. Not that scary btw. I was 13 when I tried. I recommend everyone to try. Of course there was some jump scares. So, if you have any hearth disease. Do not try. At the end, they present you some drinks

Interesting attraction. The only thing that spoiled the impression - the greed of the organizers. Before the start run into the atmospheric dungeon, then lift up on the elevator, but a part. The rest stomp on the ordinary iron staircase in daylight, which destroys the atmosphere
