The shrimp croquettes are delicious. Beautiful art deco style.

Excellent quality, the only thing is the small rooms and the little breakfast

Truly enjoyed my stay here when we visited Amsterdam. Such great accommodations and a very friendly staff. The service was very attentive and provided us with a wonderful welcoming feeling. Our room had a balcony that we could sit outside and watch the city come to life. Very clean and very nice for the price. Would definitely suggest this place to anyone visiting Amsterdam and is in the market for a great hotel.

Cozy authentic tent for a drink. Will close a bit early. You can sit a bit quieter than the establishments in the immediate area. Beautiful appearance.

Nice older building. Very nice staff. Wonderful breakfast. Well maintained. Our room (P3) was a little unusual with no sitting area and 3 twin beds. No dresser but there was a little free-standing armoire. We (two of us) were there for only three nights and we were happy. I would desire a different room for a week long stay. The staff was ultra-nice so that made up for the awkwardness of the room.

Lovely looking from the outside I'm afraid the rooms are a let down tho , me and my wife was on honeymoon so we upgrade to a deluxe room the sink was cracked, the fridge was dirty we informed the receptionist who said she can not help us I was just expecting better . Breakfast is also very expensive I think it was 15 for a continental if you book early 20 on the day then 5 egg 5 bacon 5 beans you get the picture. my advice for the same price get a apartment .

Lovely stay. Staff is very pleasant and nice, great breakfast with big variety (no good selection for vegans though), one of the best locations in Amsterdam. I enjoyed my stay very much.

The hotel is near the city center, near the Tram. The staff are friendly and efficient.

Our room was small (!!!), a view of a wall (!!!). The bathroom is very small (!!!). Storage worthy of an IKEA (!!).

Details are not worked in the room. It's a shame, at 200 per night I expected better (!!!)

The location of the hotel is for us the only strong point of the establishment. We didn't feel like we were in a **** hotel.

The hotel was undergoing renovation so it made it less comfortable and cozy. In the huge comfortable bed room very good shower and separate toilet. The view from the window is stunning. The location is just perfect close to everything. There are full restaurants and a huge supermarket in front of the hotel. Would love to return to this hotel.

Update after the second night: the reception and the concierge are really kind and i assume they feel sorry for the breakfast Dilemma. So I Updated this review from 2 up to 3 stars, because Overall it was a pleasent stay and If you skip breakfast you will really have a nice stay here.

Let's start with the positive: the Hotel looks very pretty and the rooms including the bathroom are pretty big and nice. The staff is also kind. But let's move to the big con. It seems like the staff,especially in the kitchen is really unorganized. We ordered our breakfast to the room for 9:00 , at 9:35 I complained for the first time and i was told that it should be on it's way, after 20 minutes i asked a second time, now i was told they will check up with the kitchen,after 15 more minutes of waiting I asked a third time and again it was checked with the kitchen, finally at 10:30 the kitchen called me and asked what we've ordered. While writing this critics I am still waiting for breakfast and it's now almost 11:00. Waiting 2 hours for breakfast on a 2 das trip to Amsterdam is nothing you would wish to do and should not happen.

We loved this hotel and the cheap upgrade to a suite. The location is perfect, the breakfast was amazing.

20 for breakfast sounds a bit expensive to me as I only get a coffee and cereal,

A great old school hotel bar with friendly staff and a big marble horseshoe bar. The atmosphere is great and it's a decent spot to take a break from a walk around the city too.

Great hotel, comfortable beds and nice rooms. Within walking distance from the centre, 4 minutes walk from a great Irish pub.

Hotel staff doesn t place your left items in lost and found. They steal them!! I just checked out my room a day ago! Where are my items?!??

They could give us a better room, but overall the place is really good.

Everyone was very friendly, and always very polite.

The room was very clean, and we choose do not have a service room in the second night, they offered some local biscuits as a treat.

Good location and a vary nice staff. A really good breakfast at the hotel restaurant.

Very moderate lunch, poor and incompetent service. It is a shame that such a beautiful place is operated so unlovingly. Watch out for the pin device where you must enter or decline a tip. Before you know it, enter your pin code as a tip!

We have slept in the americain before, nice hotel, not cheap but special.
This may have been the last time, breakfast was always one of their strengths, now it is a big disappointment, you get a tray with a little less quality food, even the coffee was weak, if it stays that way, that was our last time, it was even Boxing Day

Cozy decor, nice photos of celebrities on the walls. Very friendly waitress.

I loved my stay in this hotel, the location is great, in the lively Liedesplien which I found more convenient and pleasant than city center yet it is about 10-15 min walk to center. They have a very nice bar and restaurant.
The beds are super comfy, and the room design is so cool, I would stay there again for sure.

Very nice localization, close to the major tourist atractions

A bit expensive, but for the quality more than worth it, great service but a cleaning lady randomly cleaned my room (not that well) and stole my "we don't want room service" sign after doing so... so that was weird. But the first one was really nice and did a great job, respected our privacy and so we tipped her, left a note with a couple coins for the nice behavior. Great overall experience.

Excellent location as a base for exploring the city. Especially as its door to door for trams from Amsterdam Centraal station. If you stay for more than 2 days you can opt to not get the room serviced and earn a treat (we were given stroopwaffles). Hot breakfast was a bit disappointing but overall a place worth staying in.

Was expecting a lot more for my money I went and paid for a Junior suite first mistake in my opinion this is not a Junior suite the photos on Expedia are very misleading I feel let down and very stupid as I have been mislead into thinking that the room would be special it is not !!

I stopped by a snack, but I was able to relax slowly.
There are various menus and dining is large and beautiful.

Beautifully furnished in a very nice location in the center of Amsterdam close to Leidseplein, Singelgracht and boarding point for tour boats. Prices on the high side.

the restaurant is amazing. please avoid the bar: long queue, not well presented, not soya or any other alternative milk, not professional coffee machine (they have a office machine to make coffee!) and we waited more than 30 mins for a coffee. no way.

Nice rooms, but then you get a ticket: free drinks due to discomfort renovations, very nice but is not for 2 but for 1 in the bar: stupid anyway.

Hotel with central location. Close to all the museums. Large, clean rooms. Very silent. I didn't try the breakfast but the bar and restaurant of this hotel are an attraction for tourists
