I took my wife for our anniversary they are very nice and the food was delicious thank you for having us we will come again...
Put your fancy pants on and be sure to order some sangria. Top-notch tapas
Have only tried their brunch so far, but it was fantastic. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the server, Rachel, was great! We will definitely be going back.
The food here was tasty! The most out standing dish was the flank steak. To die for! The octopus special was also really really god. I just knocked off one star for the shrimp dish. There was something generic about the shrimp, but the sauce it was in was really good. Sorry i don t know the official name of these dishes. Lol
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing service. Glad I found a new favorite restaurant in Denver.
Newly remodeled. Same great food. The pan con tomate. Just bread, toasted with garlic and tomatoes. So damn good. The grilled chicken thighs in a ragu with garbanzo beans and the lamb meatballs. So damn good
The plates here are tiny but are amazing. Great for a snack while getting a drink.
Great atmosphere, and wonderful food. Be sure to make reservations but definitely a five star little place.
I've driven by countless times. Yesterday was my day to finally stop. After hearing from a good source that they make paella with squid ink. Whaaat?!
Paella is a dish that needs patience and experience to make it right. Now adding squid ink to it raises the taste to a different level. The key to a really good paella is the crust. It's called the Socarrat. From the word "socarrar" which means to toast lightly. It is to Paella what the smoke rings is to a brisket. Apparently this takes years to master and is an indicator of how well you've executed the dish.
How will I rate the Paella here? Let's just say the search goes on. Without the main factor above it's not what I want.
Although I'll be back to try the Squid ink in a pasta. I heard that they sell out on those!
Attentive staff. Nice decor. Full bar. Outside patio. Metered Parking right in front till 6pm.
9th Door Capitol Hill has a great happy hour special - everything is half off from 5-6pm. I enjoyed the wine I ordered and I would recommend the tortas, stuffed peppers, olives, and artichoke hearts. The bacon wrapped dates were a little too salty for my taste and I would skip the sangria and just have wine or a cocktail.
Great Spanish tapas, wine and cocktails. Fun place for a group of friends.
I eat here at least twice a week which should say enough about the 9th Door, however, Yelp wants me to write more. Friendly service and a fun bar make this a great destination for Happy Hour or a late night bite and nightcap.
I love this place. The pairing of wine and tapas is on point. The martinis are the best in town with freshly stuffed blue cheese olives!
John, Matt & Justin are always friendly and offer suggestions for any taste. The decor is lovely and every food item is delicious!
Quality service. Quality food. Quality drinks. Had a moment to talk with the chef and they are very dedicated to as authentic tapas taste as possible. My display of tapas on a large wooden board was beautiful and enhanced my meal!
Pretty good Spanish food, specially the Queso con Miel and the Gambas con Ajo.
$70 for Happy Hour for two people and we didn't even get buzzed!? I felt like it was a little over priced. BUT the food was delicious and our waitress was SO sweet! If you're looking for an upscale, hip place with a fun tapas menu and you aren't afraid to drop some cash, put on your cute heels and sashay in!
one of my favorite happy hour spots in the area - great house red
This place is amazing the menu is diverse and flavorful. You need to try this place at least once
I enjoyed the intimate ambiance and pleasantly attentive service, but I do feel that the authentic Spanish dishes are misleading. Having family in Barcelona and traveling to many parts of Spain I felt that the 9th door does not have a true authentic Spanish flavor profile from any region in Spain. Do not get me wrong there definitely is Spanish influence in these dishes, but a far cry from traditional.
Aside from my first point the dishes are well balanced and make for an exciting meal.
Since changing owners at the beginning of the year the menu has improved significantly. There are great specials and they can make a great pisco sour.
Went in at 10:20 on a Saturday, the kitchen which was supposed to be open until 12 according to the website was already closed.
This is a great place to check out! Convenient location...free parking in garage...ambiance has been great for meeting and conversation...food is always prepared well and is appetizing...service is friendly and add a quality experience to the dining...Highly recommended!!
Wow, this place is the best. Wonderful attentive staff, knowledgeable on the menu with good suggestions, and wonderfully portioned delicious food. A+ Tyler rocked it.
An authentic taste of Spain in Denver. The Paella is a must try at every visit. Perfectly cooked. Invokes a definite sense of nostalgia for my home country.
The 9th Door is an excellent and reliable Spanish restaurant with a casual look and knowledgeable staff. We started with three tapas: Shrimp (Gambas al Ajillo) at $15; Eggplant dip (Torrada Escalivada) for $8; and Almonds and Olives for $5. The Seafood Paella at $33 was hardy with lots of shellfish and very flavorful. Our server Kari was helpful in interpreting the extensive wine list, leading us to two Spanish reds (Muriel Rioja at $12 and Unculin at $13). Note their recent location on 9th and Lincoln St. advertises free inside parking.
Outstanding spot for spanish food. The staff was very welcoming and observant. It has a nice feel to it.
This place blew me away. This place blew my girlfriend away. And this has not happened very often.
Got a sweet Groupon: $49 for the bottomless drinks and tapas on Sunday brunch. Thought it was a deal too good to be true, but it was true!
Food was amazing! We tried every brunch dish available, and loved every single one, save the salad (Ensalada Marquet) and the dipping potatoes (Patatas Bravas). They weren't bad by any means, just not our favorites.
Staff was great! Attentive, quick, friendly, and awfully cheery for 11am on a Sunday as the dining room went from empty to packed in a short amount of time.
Drinks were a little weak, but quite tasty. Not really a problem on the weakness in the end, as I had several and it was probably better than I wasn't hammered by noon. I had a full afternoon of watching Netflix and HBOGO anyway! I liked the red sangria and my mimosa. My girlfriend liked her Bloody Mary; I'm not a fan at all of them, but if she was pleased, I was pleased.
Music was a BITTTTT too loud, and we ended up talking in slightly-above-normal voices during the meal. Nothing terrible though, just an observation.
Just such a great meal, from start to finish, from food to drink, from hostess to waiter. Will absolutely be back!
Yes - this is the place for authentic Spanish Tapas. Everything on the menu is thoughtfully prepared and delivered by knowledgeable staff who made our dinning experience even better. Loved the octopus, paella was the best any of our party of 5 had ever had, sauces infused with herbs & spices - just delicious! Add it to your list to visit The 9th Door. You won't be disappointed.
Fantastic food and beverage. Takes me back to Las Rambles. Very enthusiastic and friendly staff. Authentic! I love the Estrella beer.
First off, I had never had tapas before dining at The 9th Door. I ve since tried several other tapas restaurants, both in Denver and elsewhere. Nothing else compares!! Whether I m stopping by for a quick bite during happy hour, or bringing a group to sit in one of their cozy booths and dine, my experience is always a fantastic one! To walk in and be greeted by name is a wonderful feeling.
Favorites on the menu include the lamb skewers and the carrot salad. Their seafood paella is killer as well! The drink menu features amazing sangria, and well thought out cocktails that are mostly classics influenced by Spanish ingredients.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff, amazing food, great prices and atmosphere. I love The 9th Door!
Incredible food and experience! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Great location with easy parking and quick access to downtown for any after-dinner event you want to do. Both brunch and dinner have been awesome.
Absolutely fantastic. We came as a group for my friends birthday, and the food was good, it was just the right amount, and the flavors were perfect. The staff treated us really well, and all around it was a good time. I'm thinking of going for my birthday.
They have overall good quality food here. However, plates are small, service is not particularly fast, the potatoes and mushrooms were over cooked. However, much like their Blake St. location, this place's food was NOT oversalted! Extremely rare for a restaurant!
You have to check this place out! The food is phenomenal, staff is friendly and laid back, and the owner/chef is the most engaging owner I've ever come across. 9th door capital hill is exactly what you want as your local hangout. Definitely check it out!!
Awesome evening. The food was Amazing and our waiter was outstanding. Like the new location. 9th Door is our new addiction.
This is a lovely place to get some Tapas and just sit down for a lovely meal, would recommend the albondigas.
One of the best gourmet cheese sandwiches I think Ive ever had, aside from home made and the steak omg!
Everything about our experience was great! Our servers were knowledgeable and friendly. Great cheese selection with good recommendations according to your tastes. They let us know that certain dishes would take a little longer to prepare so we could plan ahead and order additional plates to tide us over while we waited. Gin and tonic was fire. Service is slow? Nah, take a chill pill and soak up the ambience. Definitely a go to from now on.
Excellent selection of tapas. Cozy atmosphere and great service!
Loved this place - great food, very authentic, terrific service, and you can talk without yelling over the wonderful Spanish wine! Will be back....
Great breakfast, highly recommend kitchen sink or any of the eggs Benedicts!!
The dates and croquettes were phenomenal as was the cheese plate. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the Spanish decor. The tapas were small but that's because tapas means "small plate" so don't let that discourage you. The whole point is to order several to share amongst friends. We will definitely be going back soon!
Great wine selection and a large tapas menu. Everything was delicious and pretty reasonably priced.

The food here was absolutely amazing. I had never had tapas before but this place was great. The servings are perfect to share for 2 people and the prices arent bad at all. Service was great and they have a full bar. Highly recommend checking this place out
Fantastic authentic Spanish cuisine, some dishes with a genuine CO twist. The entire staff is extremely helpful & super friendly. Great for quick bites (tapas) before hitting the town or a nice intimate setting for a special night.
The homemade Sangria is a must! The Montaditos are exceptional, could ve devoured them but wanted to taste every single flavor. Shout out to Rachel...excellent conversationalist.
This is one of the few great tapas places in the area serving real authentic spanish tapas. Service is always great and the food is fantastic.
Great tapas, friendly staff. Lots of cocktails and wine selection. Would visit again!
Super good food and very friendly staff. Wonderful family experience.
i LOVE this spot! I've been here a couple times for drinks and tapas. This place exceeds the usual expectations of a tapas place. The location is super central, local to Broadway/Lincoln area. They offer garage parking. Not to mention the FOOD!!!!!! They offer a wide range of tapas. Natural ingredients every time. They also have an extensive cocktail menu. Don't hesitate to ask for any suggestions on the menu, the extremely knowledgeable staff is constantly paroling the floor to help with any questions you may have! Super modern/chic feel if you're looking for a good happy hour spot or a nice, chill spot to meet and catch up with friends!
Spanish food and the atmosphere at this place is super good. Stopped in on a Tuesday. Service is typically great.
Friendly staff!! And the happy hour is SUPER affordable with gourmet dishes for just $5. The open layout of the 9th door, since I just had meandered off the street, was so welcomimg. I highly recommend The 9th Door, Capitol Hill for anyone thinking outside the box for a great experience, and delicious food.
Went on a Saturday night. Made a reservation online the night before and asked to get an intimate table for a first date. I also dropped some flowers off before arriving with my date. And although the staff seemed to find this amusing amongst themselves, they looked after us with a great table and had the flowers on the table when we arrived. Shoutout to Justin the doorman for being the most welcoming of the staff we interacted with..
Had a nice bottle of red and a few bites, which were great all round.
Great place for a date night!
10 stars for my date, 5 stars -1 star for some of the staff being a little off for whatever reason.
My husband an I were looking to try something "new" so we chose this restaurant and we decided to do pickup since we are not comfortable yet going into restaurants or public places with a lot of people. My husband went for Carne Asada which was $18, I ordered Gambas al Ajillo ($15) and Pollo con Chorizo y Garbanzo ($11). When my husband picked it up he could feel that the bag was very light. We got home and we found this (pictures attached). The restaurant is not expensive but for the food that we got we felt ripped off. The Carne Asada was a very small portion and the presentation looks bad due to the lack of food. The plate that I ordered (Gambas al Ajillo) was the worst, I've never felt more disappointed, as you can tell, there wasn't even 10 shrimps, it didn't even fill half of the container. We definitely are not coming back.
Great food, and service. Our waitress Rachel was awesome! Highly recommend!
Awesome Tapas with AMAZING happy hour prices. Small plates make it possible to try a couple things if you are dining alone. The Sangria was YUM! I had the rose/tequila one and it wasnt too sweet. The gal who served me had great info and took great care of me. She talked me into giving Sangria another chance (I'm not a sweet drink person) it was good though, I even had 2. I highly recommend this spot.
Jamie was outstanding on a night where restaurant was unusually packed, way short staffed and she handles all tables, including ours,
Very nice place, delicious food, great drinks, friendly service but a little over priced IMHO.
I had always told myself I would never write a bad review as I know the service industry is a hard business to be in and I know people are more generally inclined to write a negative review over positive, but my experience at 9th door was completely unacceptable.
There was a situation that occurred during our dinner, where customers claimed they had paid with a $100 bill and blamed the server for losing such bill. Based off of the conversation and aggressiveness of the customer, I think everyone else in the restaurant would agree that the customer probably didn't actually pay and they were trying to get away with a free dinner, but that's besides the point. What happened after such customer left was the issue. After the customer left, the chef - which was also the manager and possible owner, started screaming, swearing, throwing objects around and creating an extremely uncomfortable experience for everyone in the restaurant. The server involved in the issue was sent home, before being publicly fired in front of everyone. After being fired, the chef continued to yell, swear and talk down on the server and the customers that pulled this on the restaurant. The remaining customers in the restaurant expressed to each other how uncomfortable they were. One group even requested their food to be prepared and packaged up so they could leave. The restaurant ultimately ended up closing early, sending away potential customers that walked in.
The chef had every right to be upset about this situation. In the food service industry this is unfortunately bound to happen. What should have happened is the chef should have cut his losses, learned from the experience, and moved on. What happened was public shaming for all staff, losing potential customers walking through the door and any returning customers who witnessed this go down. I can't support a company who treats their employees like this chef treated his staff. Chef, the gentlemen you fired tonight is a great server, very friendly, informative and helpful. Without employees like him, you would have no restaurant. Your food was creative and tasty. You have what it takes to have a successful restaurant, but instead of all the staff - whom you yelled at because "they always have to ruin it for you" and "you never get to go home early", it was you who ultimately ruined everyone's evening and hundreds of dollars worth of future business.
Chef Brian Murphy is a genius when it comes to spanish cuisine! Great service great food. Saturday brunch is refreshing. If your on capital hill its a great place to stop in for a bite to eat.
Delicious food, really like the Spanish (I'm Spanish ). Very good attention from the restaurant staff, very well taken care of the details and presence of the dishes. Super recommendable !!! I will be back soon
Prices were reasonable for small plates and drinks, food was good and good quality, atmosphere was pleasant and service was okay until we were asked to leave because they had another large party that needed seating. We spent a few hundred dollars on a table of 7 and were asked to leave, no way I d go back after that.
I booked a birthday dinner at The 9th Door for a party of 10 - all of us were out of town, and half of us have spent time in Spain. Everything about the experience - the drinks, the service, the pacing, the Chef's selections for our tasting menu, and each individual dish - was absolutely fantastic. Our group of 10 represented people from 5 cities, and it was the best tapas dinner any of us had ever had. Chef Brian even came out to chat with us toward the end of the night when things slowed down. We were stuffed, and we felt like the value was also excellent. You can't go wrong here - it's probably a big reason all of us want to get back to Denver for another trip soon!
My new favorite spot for happy hour with delicious food and amazing service. I drive by the 9th Door every day on my commute to work and I m disappointed it took me so long to try it. The happy hour menu has a reasonably sized list of options at good prices, with a range from stuffed peppers to oysters. Every bite was more delicious then the last and it sounded like this chef-focused menu changes frequently. The sangrias (glass or pitchers on happy hour) were also perfect, not too sweet. Our service was exceptional, with friendly staff throughout the restaurant and an extremely attentive and knowledgeable server (I think Amanda, but I m terrible with names). Can t wait to go back!
AMAZING does not even begin to describe this adventure!!! My better half and I finally got a night out and 9th Door couldn't have been a better choice. I have had the opportunity to spend some time in Spain and always a little hesitant to try a place that claims the know tapas. I was blown away and 9th Door nailed it. The passion from Brian shows in everything he does. Expertly crafted flavors, fresh herbs from his own garden, his attitude, his wisely chosen staff and I could go on and on but you'll have to experience it for yourself.
Thanks for a fantastic night CHEF!!! We will be back
Great drinks and good ambience. Parking is limited.
Very good, small plates. Great place for couples and groups, whether you want to share or not. When the menu describes a dish as 'spiced' it does not mean hot; instead complex, well spiced flavor. There is garage parking for this business, if street parking is full.
Fantastic tapas. It's quaint and small but the food is one of the best Denver has to offer.
Great atmosphere! Even better food! The owner Brian is doing an amazing job! A must try if you're in the area!!
Outstanding place for delicious spanish food. I give this spot two thumbs up. Service is consistently good. This place has a nice atmosphere. Feels similar to a restaurant in New York I loved.
The food and drinks here are great. I loved the paella! And the patatas bravas.
Excellent service, amazing food (not too salty!) - salt should only accentuate a dish. One of the best martinis I've ever had.
HOLY MOLY! the 9th was my greatest dining experience to date! the food was 20/10, the service just as great, and the pricing so fair for the divine dinner we ate! i will not come to denver without stopping back!
All of the staff were very nice and genuine. My wife and I ordered a few plates and dessert and absolutely loved everything. Well worth the price.
Great happy hour, yummy food, awesome atmosphere & very friendly staff. What more could you want? So glad we found this place! Perfect for happy hour before a show at the Curious.
Great place for seeing old friends or a first date. A neighborhood hangout. Pleasant service, very knowledgeable. Just had drinks, but next time, we'll try the kitchen.
Really great food, but I would say the seafood paella feeds 1.5 people... I shared with my friend, and we were both not full by the end of it.
Weekend early afternoon visit, no wait.
Lomo Embutido
Albondigas
Gambas Al Ajillo
Paella
Everything was delicious but, by the time we got to the Paella, we were stuffed.
Have to make special mention of the bread that came with the Embutido. It was really good. The other was the soda my hubby got which we were told was a local soda.
Coffee is my drink but, I am going to have that soda on our next visit.
Service was quick, friendly yet professional, and a nicer treat for Mr. Murphy to acknowledge our visit as we were leaving.
