This "boutique" hotel is really the only solid choice when visiting the area. The hotel is historic, yet updated. Don't miss the military history wall art throughout the hotel. Staff is helpful, professional and attentive. But beware, the hotel hosts many weekend events making it a busy (crowded/loud) destination instead of a relaxing getaway.

Went for the 6pm seating of the Thanksgiving buffet. Service was delightful, including both the table staff and those at the carving stations. All of the food items were fresh, refilled quickly and cooked to perfection. The turkey was moist and flavorful, the prime rib was heavenly smooth. The desert selection was varied and flavorful. The shrimps were huge! Will definitely consider going back again next year, well worth the 70 minute drive!

Ok

What a treat it was to stay at the historic Thayer Hotel! We were visiting West Point for a funeral, and this hotel is right outside the gate to West Point. The service at the hotel is so efficient and friendly. The restaurants are good, and the hotel is lovely.

Wonderful place needs to be more aware of minor details. Need more vegetarian food obtains. This would include brunch. There should be water bottles in rooms not sure why. Over all Ioved my visit

Wonderful being on the base at West Point. This historic hotel has great service and has a classic feel to it. The hotel is very drafty in the lobby and depending on the side of your room, your sleep could be disrupted by the train.. Make sure you keep your ID or passport on you at all times. The West Point museum is within walking distance and on site dining is very good. Highly recommended.

been to West Point many times, even the Thayer Hotel - but never stayed overnight - every bit a stay which one would come to expect with the excellence exuded by the overall USMA environment - to get to the point, WOW! -

Hotel magnificent was the food but Sunday brunch service was lacking. At buffet and drink orders were slow, failed to bring decaf when asked, refills very slow, slow to clear plates and never replaced silverware. Buffet food good but...Not what it was 5-10-15 years ago.

My husbt and I went for the Sunday brunch and had a wonderful experience. The dining rooms were beautiful and the live pianist was a lovely touch. The service and the food were both outstanding.

We stayed for the historical charm, location and spectacular views and will be back... A couple of good bars with an exceptional view from the rooftop venue. Some updating needs to be done. The noise from the outdoor bar can be annoying. Continued staff training is always a good idea. But the menu and food were above average.

I m honestly really disappointed in the service we received at the Thayer hotel. We were in town for a wedding this past weekend that due to the pandemic we weren t sure was definitely going to happen until the week of. The hotel refused to honor the wedding rate for our room. They also didn t clean our room during the day while we were staying there. As we were checking out the staff was super reluctant to hold our belongings as we were checking out so that we could say goodbye to the bride and groom. I m a Marriott elite member and this hotel that prides itself at providing a luxury experience. This has worse service than one of their base hotels. I m honestly disappointed.

I enjoyed one lunch and two dinners at the Thayer as well as visits to McCarthur's Tavern and Zulu Time roof top bar. This is the premier hotel in the area and I plan to stay there for my next foot ball weekend at West Point.

My family and I just stayed at the Thayer this past weekend and had nothing but an amazing time here!! All of the staff is extremely friendly and helpful! We ate several times at the hotel- at Zulus, Pattons and attended the Mother's Day Brunch, and each meal was just as delicious. I highly recommend stopping down to General Patton's Tavern, as Jason and Alex-the bartenders are so fun and give great service!

I disliked that they asked for my credit card to hold a table. No other restraint has done that. My grandmother turning 93 likes to go there but I am discouraging her from going. Additionally they don't take American Express

The staff was amazing. I forgot my cell phone charger on our room and when I realized we were almost home several hours away so I just figured I would need to buy a new one. Than later in the evening a member of the hotel staff contacted me offering to mail back the charger they found in the room. The charger was pretty expensive so I was so greatful. The hotel was very clean, food was good, and the views were beautiful.

In the many years I have booked hotel reservations around the world, I have never had the horrible experiences I have had with booking a reservation at The Thayer. Never. After talking to three different people there, one cordial, one totally indifferent, and the third (the desk manager) was incredibly unprofessional and down-right rude and he thought his rudeness was a subject of humor and entertainment! I wanted to book rooms at The Thayer because it was a dream of my husband and his friend (both disabled Vietnam veterans) to visit West Point and stay at The Thayer. I did not want to disappoint them. We will stay there, but the trip is surely ruined for me. I just hope these two brave men are not treated as badly as I was. And, yes, I did try to contact the General Manager to talk of my experiences my calls were ignored. My impression: if you are not a five star general, you will not get anything remotely resembling five star treatment at The Thayer Hotel. The Five Star Inn at West Point is nothing fancy, but when I stayed there last month with my two granddaughters we were treated like honored guests.

From Valet parking to doormen to the greeters our experience upon arrival was wonderful, our waitress Sandy kept our glasses full and made us feel welcomed to stay and enjoy ourselves as long as we wanted! The food was cooked to perfection and we had many things to choose from.

Great atmosphere. Went for a wedding on a Saturday. Valet parkers nowhere to be found. Long walk to parking. Food very disappointing, the cocktail hour servers did not know what they were serving. Wait, it gets worst, salad looked a week old, the dinner rolls were rubbery, and the entrees were equally bland. The saving grace was the bride and groom and the love in the room made up for the poor food.

Location and historical value alone is quite impressive. The conference room was large with with a great view of the river.

Service in the restaurant was pretty shameful! Food was decent but nothing to write home about.

The most unfortunate part of this meeting was the greedy nature of the hotel- everything was an extra charge.

Coffee service- $400! And we were told that if we tried to bring our own we would be stopped by the Military Police.

We had 3 interns join us for the meeting and were told that there would be an additional $100 charge for adding attendees.

Rooms were OK, had to move maintenance fix the heat. Things were a little bit dated but fit with the overall historical theme of the facility.

Needless to say, despite the great location, scenery and history, our company will most likely not be returning to this space for future meetings. Based on our mediocre experience its doubtful any of the attendees will put this high on their list of venues for personal events either.

As a disabled veteran, I decided to come up here with my family on Memorial Day weekend. The hotel and view is beautiful, but avoid ZuluTime bar the chef is a Charlie Uniform November Tango who wouldn't make something on the menu just without the beef for my pregnant wife. SMH. Ridiculous.
