I saw Dr. Blais in June following a terrible experience at Southwest Orthopaedic Group (SOG). While SOG had given me the impression that an ACL Revision surgery was needed (fairly soon), and I would have been scheduled for surgery had their office staff actually returned my calls and e-mails (I initiated care with them in April), Dr. Blais explicitly stated he did not recommend ACL Revision "at this time". Dr. Blais did request an X-ray that day (done in office) as I had only had an MRI for this issue. Dr. Blais reviewed both my MRI and X-ray with me in his office the same day (not done at SOG) and was supportive, but not pushy with how to proceed, although again - he recommended against surgery at this time. Dr. Blais outlined, specifically, the steps we could take to address my primary complaint (regular swelling of the knee, swollen for 3 days at a time, limited ROM, discomfort with swelling but no pain), with surgery being at the very bottom of the list. He agreed my issue was complex, but there were still several possible interventions to try. Based on all Dr. Blais presented to me about my condition, I decided to proceed with a cortisone shot and ordered a knee brace (will take several weeks to receive). In addition to my positive experience with Dr. Blais, I can also say the office staff was helpful and friendly. It was very easy to get an appointment, I called on Tuesday/ Wednesday, got in on a Friday. Check-in was also super easy with their electronic tablet/ iPad. I'll update this review as needed based on future care I receive from Dr. Blais/ this practice, but I would recommend Texas Orthopedics South Austin.
