THUMBS DOWN!!! I would rate zero starts if possible. Do not waist your time or money at this establishment. My husband and I went out for what we were hopeful would be an awesome experience as we had heard from others... NOT the case!! All seamed well when we got there but after we put in our order with a server named Jaycee it went down hill. We both ordered steaks (one of which was on the high end of $30) with 2 side salads. We waited for our food for 45-50 minutes before I finally had to stop Jaycee as she walked by us without acknowledgment for about the 10th time, to ask what the deal was. Only then did we get our pre dinner salads and an apology. She said that the were short staffed .. I would have given her the Benefit of the doubt if it would have been for a table of six who showed up 20 minutes after we had ordered and already had their salads and appetizers. Our food showed up shortly after our salads (An hour and 10min after order time) only to be missing one of my sides and having a raw steak. I firmly believe that if I wouldn t have said anything to our server that we would have been charged full price. I explained why I was so angry and she offered a lousy 20% discount. At this point I was just ready to be out of that god forsaken place and accepted. We still ended up paying close to $80 for a dinner that we could have mutilated ourselves at home for free. Not to mention we didn t even receive everything that was ordered in the first place!!! So, will I reccomend this place to anyone else? Absolutely not .. total waste of time and money!
Our family had a great time looking at all of their animals. Some of the unusual animals we saw included a peacock, a Tom turkey, camels, and ostriches. I highly recommend the train ride since it takes you to a herd of bison. The train stops by the bison for about 15 minutes so you can feed them. Very enjoyable time for the entire family.
The bison train ride was pretty neat. Feeding the buffalo was fun for the entire family, seeing all the animals was a lot of fun too and a lot to do there. We will be back for that part of the ranch. If it were not for the restaurant, I would give this 4 or 5 starts. However, the restaurant part was what bothered me. We had to ask our waitress three times what the jackrabbit app was, twice for our Bbq sauce, and she continuously forgot things we asked her. We ended up just getting our blue cheese from the salad bar as she forgot that twice as well. We specifically asked what kind of noodles were in the Alfredo and explained my son would not eat certain types of noodles. She brings out something completely different after we had already waited a long time for our food. We then had to order him a burger instead and have him wait while the rest of us ate our food. The part that upset me was when she brought out a HOT plate of chicken nuggets (not the strips we ordered) and set them in front of my toddler, who is just shy of two years old. They were scalding hot straight from the kitchen, thankfully we caught it, and she did not get burned. For a decently priced restaurant, I would expect better service, a little more attention, and better food.
Terry Bison Ranch was awesome! We enjoyed the train ride and all of the animals at the ranch.
Very nice. Rode the train, hand fed the Bison/Buffalo. They have several different kinds of animals to see. There's a resturant and more.
After reading many derogatory reviews, we chose to stop off for 1 night only. We were pleasantly surprised. Sites are gravel and quite level, and long enough so we didn't have to unhook car. Hookups are fine, 50 amp, with w/s. We've stayed in far worse places. Passport rate $24 + tax.
It's a great ranch and a must see if you're in the area.
Amazing ranch with wonderful staff. They have a big gift shops with really interesting things. We left with many souvenirs. The price to stay in a cabin was unbelievably cheap! We also had an amazing horseback ride that went into several states. Gorgeous views! My mom and I look forward to visiting again soon!
Came in with a group of 15 or so awhile back for my sisters graduation. Yeah this is definitely an over due review but it just popped up and asked me to review. We had a lot of people and a huge bill. Hundred of dollars worth of food and drinks. Our food seemed to be carted in through the cold from another building and was all cold. It was pretty ridiculous. Most of our family was from Missouri and we recommended this place my poor dad paid for the entire bill and he got cold food
So much fun our children and I loved visiting all the animals and the old western theme is so fun.. it's like stepping into a serene wild west haha
A place to watch bison very close. There is also a nice store to get bison meat
Mother's Day food and service were great as always but they packed in too many tables making it difficult for handicap access
If you come to see animals, well... get prepared for disappointment! The bisons are skinny and weak. Nothing like what you can see when they hang out in liberty in National Parks. You don't go in a large landscape to approach them, you actually sit in a train and they'll come to you when you stop by, conditioned as they are to come and grab the food that your train neighbors have bought to feed them for 2$... Very sad. We ran away and did not feel good about participating in this kind of business.
I enjoyed visiting this place service was a little slow waitress voluntarily explain that they were understaffed I enjoyed the food very much
We liked the animals. The Senator restaurant was delicious. Jennifer made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you.
Visited TBR yesterday for their Mother's Day Buffet. The food was good, the atmosphere was nice. The buffet becomes quite cumbersome and crowded as there are no clear directions of flow. I believe this to be a size issue, if there was more room in the dining room they wouldn't have this issue. With that said, it was a great time and we'll definitely do it again.
The main attraction is a little homemade railroad ride that last about an hour. The train passes through a bison herd and the Highlight is getting to feed the Fairly tame bison with nutrition supplement that is provided by the ranch.
love this place, I always make it a point to stop every time I m near the Wyoming state line. Bison burgers are to dye for, 20k+ acre Bison ranch with great scenery, awesome bar, and some amazing food.
My wife and I had an awesome morning tour by train for $15 per person. It took about 1 hr to finish the whole tour, meeting a bunch of farm animals including camels and of course bisons. Feeding the bisons was so fun. Our tour guide was super nice and you can tell that she loves her job and the animals, she's also very knowledgeable. If you come on a weekday morning, for a 9:00 tour, you may end up having a private tour like us. They accept visa as form of payment and there are ample of parking, just hope that there are parking signs so it won't be that confusing...you pretty much park where you want...maybe because we came too early. Nonetheless, if you're at Cheyenne I recommend that you stop by and visit the ranch.
Apart from being a legit Bison ranch complete with actual cowboys, the restaurant was great. Excellent bison short ribs and burgers. The staff were also among the friendliest and accommodating I've ever met, especially Scotty the bartender. A proper Wyoming destination!
Interesting variety of animals to view, and the opportunity to feed the bison was great. However, the train was not an authentic locomotive as pictured on the website, which was rather disappointing.
Wish we'd had more time here, but glad we lucked out enough to pick this place to stop for a night in our RV. So much to do! Will have to go back.
ATV ride was a good time but a little pricey for the allotted 45minutes. Burgers were great but besides that there isn't much there.
We enjoy the Senator restaurant. It is a fun place to bring kids, they have a free outdoor area where you can look at a bunch of animals - nice if you want to go for a little drive and not spend a bunch of money entertaining the kids for an afternoon.
For a rustic experience, it was very nice. Great for kids.
Been here twice. Amazing experience feeding the bison pellets. My kids still talk about it. Will always stop by. Great experience in the restaurant.
Tombstone cafe has awesome food, but having to wait 15 minutes before getting menu and the 5 minutes for drinks, then another 30 to 40 minutes for the food was a little disappointing. Friendly staff but very short handed.
An exciting experience for all ages! The train ride was a blast and feeding the bison was a riot!
Enjoyed my stay. The Animals were fun. People were very nice.
Visited in late April -- apparently during the "slow" season. Hardly anyone around. Didn't see any of the promised bison -- and no, they're not the same as buffalo. Anyway, there were ostriches, llamas and a friendly cow in various pens to see.
But the bison could only be seen via a $14.95 "train" ride to some remote part of the ranch. Their train appeared to be a bus converted to run on rails moving at a very slow pace.
The gift shop was interesting -- they at least had a bison available, along with a nice example of the famed jackalope.
Made reservations here for one of their cabins. Showed up they had no power. I realize that was not their fault. Everything was locked up and no one was to be found. Left a message, no one returned the call. Called the next afternoon, the lady that answered the phone was extremely rude. A note on the door to call someone would have been nice or a returned call. Not sure I'll be going back!
Went out there for Mother's Day buffet with my boyfriend's family. The food was really good and there was plenty of it. The wait staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. Probably the best service I've had in quite a while. All in all, a great experience.
Great people and awesome information on the tour! Goi g again!
My family and I love this place. We first visited in July of 2014 and just made another visit June of this year. If you visit get tickets for the train ride and go feed the bison. The ride was perfect for my 2 yr old and my 9 yr old. They enjoyed feeding the bison and laughed when they were slimed. They gift shop sells different Nick nacks and you can take a picture riding a giant Jackalope. Oh and pick up some sarsaparilla while there
Great fishing in their private pond! 20 inch+ rainbows are in there!
Very cool and kitschy place. Lots of activities for families. Great sites, lots of amenities, friendly staff.
Loved the cabin weather didnt permit the train exp on sunday ..... Will try again
Great place nice people. Bison tour was fantastic. Steak house served great food.
I love the Terry Bison Ranch. All the staff are kind. The food at the cafe is so GOOD! The ranch has horses, peacocks, and a hand full of ranch cats and bison. Have a big playground and a kid coral that opens in June. The ranch also has cabins. I totally think you should stay at the Terry Bison Ranch.
Super fun drive in experience. Bring your own fm radio to save your vehicle battery. Worth the drive.
For 30 days I had the opportunity of experiencing all of what Terry Bison Ranch Resort had to offer. Terry Bison is located on the Wyoming - Colorado border. Nestled, between Chyenne, Wyoming, and Fort Collins, Colorado; Terry Bison lays in an excellent location for exploring Wyoming's capital and about an hours drive to the thriving city of Denver.
Terry Bison Ranch Resort, offers its guests numerous pull through RV spaces. This campground is an excellent choice for those RVers that seek a convenient place to stay off the highway. Vacationers wanting to sleep in a cabin or tent can enjoy a view of bison roaming the Ranch's field. Though activities to do around Terry Bison are limited, guests can experience thrilling ATV and horse rides for a pretty penny. There is also a functioning train that offers passengers rides out to see the bison from the safety of a train car. To much of a travle's relief, the bathrooms are cleaned everyday and offer plenty of showers. Also, for those tired after a long day's drive, Terry Bison Ranch has two restaurants to chose from. Terry Bison also has a gift shop for those seeking some cowboy flare, though the prices are a little high. Also, kids will enjoy the opportunity of seeing horses, camles, lamas, and ostriches!
Unfortunately, this resort, is less of a resort, and more of a working ranch that happens to have a parkinglot campground. Terry Bison has a variety of negatives that potential guests should be aware of. For those hoping to do even basic internet tasks, you better prepare to use mobile data since the wifi is terrible. Terry Bison Ranch lacks aesthetic beauty, period. Most of the facilities look run down and in dire need of new paint. The atmosphere reeks of manure, and has a down and out feeling that permeates everything. RVers only shade comes from the neighboring RVs since there are no shade trees. Also, neighboring RV's slide outs invade your sliver of space since the spaces are packed like sardines. Those who choose tent and cabin camping don't fare well either since privacy and a secluded space are nonexistent. Those who fork up for premium RV spaces may enjoy a little more space but are much further from the campgrounds facilities.
As for kids, the two playgrounds on Terry Bison's lands look anything but safe. Thistle weeds litter the playgrounds leaving children crying from the thorns. Your kids better have tetanus shots since rust covers most of the playgrounds' metal surfaces. Parents, be sure to watch your kids since there is a risk of falling on a sharp piece of metal off a broken seesaw. Also, there is a danger of kids getting hurt by falling off of the tall ladders.
The staff are decently nice however, you get the feeling that you are not a priority to them.
My recommendations for this campground to earn more positive reviews would be to add shade trees, give campers some more space to enjoy, refinish the appearance of the buildings, invest in safe playground equipment, get better wifi, hire more staff, and encourage the staff to place priority on the guests and not their phones.
I went to the ranch to do the Buffalo feeding train ride. The experience was rustic, simple, and very enjoyable. We were able to check out other animals on the property before boarding, and spent about 40 minutes on the train. We didn't see any rooms or have food, but it was a great day out.
This place was so awesome. Great place for family fun..
Love the people vibe and of course the hospitality here! Such a loving and inviting ranch! Definitely a place to grab a bite to eat, drink and or trail ride!
Great food, very good service, excellent music and dancing.
We had such a good time. My 4 year old got to ride a horse and we feed the bison. Would love to go back during the summer when more activities are happening. The train was fun and the "conductor" was fabulous.
So many things to do, from guided prairie horseback riding to an old train ride around the ranch, RV camping to a gift shop, and a great restaurant where you can stuff yourself with beef or bison steaks and burgers.
Attended their Thanksgiving event. Food and service we're decent. Cool Western atmosphere. Would recommend!
Took advantage of trail ride and Bison train ride. Was a wonderful time. Well worth the trip.
The Terry Bision Ranch is an amazing place to spend the day with your family!
Staff was very friendly and breakfast was better than expected. Worked great for quick stay while in Cheyenne for Frontier Days.
Fun dinner, great bison, fun experience. Need to upgrade rv park.
Such an interesting place! Loved seeing the variety of animals - bison, peacocks, turkeys, chickens, kitties, ostriches and omg the camels! Learned a lot from the train ride and being so close to the bison was amazing.
We went for their Valentines special. The food was great but the service was really slow.
The bacon at breakfast was amazing. The staff were great and common courtesy was obviously part of the people not just a business directive.
They let us ride horses for 2 hrs and they didn't beat us over the head with super strict rules like we were children! they asked us to behave be safe and then we went out together and had a great ride...didn't have to stay in perfect line the whole time! Good job Terry Bison Ranch!
Interesting train ride thru a working bison farm. Good for kids!
Just drove by on a roadtrip and stopped in to watch some bull riding one night and do horse riding in the morning. The shop and cafe are nice busy. Lots to take photos of
Went to the drive-in this evening, for the first time and saw the Holy Grail, with my sisters. The picture was great! Concessions had burgers, great big hot dogs, soft pretzels, popcorn, candy, and lots of drinks to choose from. It was so much fun and the people working were really friendly and helpful! I can't wait to go again and take my daughter. Please keep the drive-in open, permanently!!
We stopped here for one night on our way home from our honeymoon, and oh.my.gosh! Absolutely cool! We met the owner in the restaurant nearby (senator's steakhouse) and she was the sweetest! The bison burger and bison chili was deicious and hit the spot! The staff were super friendly and it was a definite plus to get to see their wide array of animals! They have their own little newspaper which was a nice surprise, and very informative! We will definitely be staying here again in the future!
Mediocre park. All gravel and dirt. Spaces are not level and lots of weeds on sites. Loud!! The have a bar and restaurant on site and all day and night on Saturday it the live band was so loud I couldn t hear the TV in my own RV. They don t care if you are disturbed. They don t care if it is loud and disruptive. I will never stay here again and I do not recommend this place.
The food is good but it should be noted that the employees were very friendly. It really was a pleasure and a surprise.
Train ride was fun kids playfround park is outdated
My two year old son had a great time on the train he really loved getting to feed the bison. We walked around the property and he got to see plenty of animals. We also had a great lunch at the restaurant.
A Great place! The staff is awesome here. We have stayed here and done skirting here since 1994!
Honestly if you want some good western style charm then stop by and check out thede souvenir products. By far some of the best I've seen outside of colorado ofcourse.
We took the self guided tour around the property. It was a cool little place to look at some animals and take a walk outside for some fresh air. There was a train tour going on but we didn't ride. Maybe next time.
