For 30 days I had the opportunity of experiencing all of what Terry Bison Ranch Resort had to offer. Terry Bison is located on the Wyoming - Colorado border. Nestled, between Chyenne, Wyoming, and Fort Collins, Colorado; Terry Bison lays in an excellent location for exploring Wyoming's capital and about an hours drive to the thriving city of Denver.
Terry Bison Ranch Resort, offers its guests numerous pull through RV spaces. This campground is an excellent choice for those RVers that seek a convenient place to stay off the highway. Vacationers wanting to sleep in a cabin or tent can enjoy a view of bison roaming the Ranch's field. Though activities to do around Terry Bison are limited, guests can experience thrilling ATV and horse rides for a pretty penny. There is also a functioning train that offers passengers rides out to see the bison from the safety of a train car. To much of a travle's relief, the bathrooms are cleaned everyday and offer plenty of showers. Also, for those tired after a long day's drive, Terry Bison Ranch has two restaurants to chose from. Terry Bison also has a gift shop for those seeking some cowboy flare, though the prices are a little high. Also, kids will enjoy the opportunity of seeing horses, camles, lamas, and ostriches!
Unfortunately, this resort, is less of a resort, and more of a working ranch that happens to have a parkinglot campground. Terry Bison has a variety of negatives that potential guests should be aware of. For those hoping to do even basic internet tasks, you better prepare to use mobile data since the wifi is terrible. Terry Bison Ranch lacks aesthetic beauty, period. Most of the facilities look run down and in dire need of new paint. The atmosphere reeks of manure, and has a down and out feeling that permeates everything. RVers only shade comes from the neighboring RVs since there are no shade trees. Also, neighboring RV's slide outs invade your sliver of space since the spaces are packed like sardines. Those who choose tent and cabin camping don't fare well either since privacy and a secluded space are nonexistent. Those who fork up for premium RV spaces may enjoy a little more space but are much further from the campgrounds facilities.
As for kids, the two playgrounds on Terry Bison's lands look anything but safe. Thistle weeds litter the playgrounds leaving children crying from the thorns. Your kids better have tetanus shots since rust covers most of the playgrounds' metal surfaces. Parents, be sure to watch your kids since there is a risk of falling on a sharp piece of metal off a broken seesaw. Also, there is a danger of kids getting hurt by falling off of the tall ladders.
The staff are decently nice however, you get the feeling that you are not a priority to them.
My recommendations for this campground to earn more positive reviews would be to add shade trees, give campers some more space to enjoy, refinish the appearance of the buildings, invest in safe playground equipment, get better wifi, hire more staff, and encourage the staff to place priority on the guests and not their phones.
