An awesome place of discovery and a good place to visit and bring friends and family
Very cool exhibits. Plan to be here for at least 4 hours if you want to see and try everything. It's a little pricey for a family but the kids will love it.
From childhood to adulthood, science centers have continued to be among my favourite tourist activities. Ive been to the science centers all over Canada and the US, and while I've once or twice been underwhelmed, I've never been more disappointed than I was with the Telus Spark.
At LEAST half of the exhibits were in some way broken or barely functional when we went, with no signs, warnings or discounted price to inform you. Many exhibits have little to no instruction or educational feedback about the activity so your child is left blindly doing things without receiving any clue as to whether they're on the right or wrong track. A lot of exhibits feel lazy.
To its credit, the presentations and shows are part of the admission cost and they are great, definitely the best part of the place. Just make sure to get seats in the back because videos are borderline unviewable from the lower rows in the dome shaped theatre.
I'm sure it's fun for VERY young kids, but it feels like the science and education is secondary to mindless interaction. One of the main exhibits was literally just a big room with a bunch of cardboard and tape to craft stuff with? What? This is not a science center, it's an overpriced playplace. If it wasn't pretending to be otherwise, I would probably rate it higher, but as it stands this is an embarrassment to Science and education.
Ultimately, the worst part about Telus Spark is how much of a flippant downgrade it is from the science center Calgary had in 2011.
Expensive and a letdown from the old one. There is not as many interactive activities as the old one and the time to get your food is brutal 50min and counting at 2:18. Won't be coming back for a longtime
My daughter had a great time there, the food is a little bit expensive but its pretty good. The exhibits are fun and engaging.
It sparks the imagination. Also quite inspirational and wonderful for making you think about our world in different ways.
Visit this place and you will never regret it. Good place to learn
We visited the Spark center on our family trip to Calgary this summer and were overall unimpressed by the science center. It was very very loud throughout the entire center and the interactive exhibits were missing the parts required to use them . The cafeteria/ eatery cafe was out of almost everything and the few things you could order were at an hour and a half wait time.... my understanding is that most problems we occurred were caused by the amount of summer camps happening during our visit, however if the entire experience for the general public is going to be terrible because of the camps they should have been otherwise closed. My son did have fun playing in their little jungle gym but was absolutely not worth the price of admission for what we were able to experience it... I wouldn't reccomend it to others if they're in Calgary for a short while or during summer breaks. Maybe it's better in offseason...
Boring. Not much to do here. Nothing compare to Vancouver TELUS Sphere. Will not come again. Sorry
Telus spark is great learning experience. However, if you want to take water for yourself, don't leave it on the ledge because my contigo coffee mug was stolen.
Wasn't at all what we were expecting. Felt like it was very much just for children with no adult activities. Very unsanitary, we saw no hand sanitizing stations anywhere, with the amount of things that get touched in the exhibits you think they would have sanitizing stations everywhere. Being clean is also part of science.
A lot of the interactive toys were broken, it seemed expensive for not a lot to do and you had to pay extra to do anything worthwhile.
Kids had fun. Adults had fun. All in all a nice place to see.
Good for kids. Toddler area kept my daughter busy and it opens at nine before the general area
NOTE: This is for their drive- in movie.
Just like the good 'ol days, only better
I really hope Drive-Ins become a thing again. We went a 6:00 and i was worried it would be hard to see the screen but it wasn't. Technology had come a long way since the previous demise of this wonderful experience.
Bring your minivan, blankets and pillows and throw open the back to watch a great flick or, you know that high end stereo in your car you listen to audiobooks with? Give it a workout.
Roaming snack scientist wil bring you pop, candy and popcorn.
Great place for kids to play and explore. Lots to look at and learn, see and do. Lots of fun for adults too.
Went for the first time yesterday, and I will absolutely be going back at the first opportunity. The Body exhibit was art and science all in one, and laid out in a clean, easy to navigate manner. The staff were friendly, very helpful, and very knowledgeable. Even on a busy holiday, the science centre never felt overcrowded or full. Overall, it was an utterly delightful experience.
AWFUL. Waste of time. Looks like an IKEA showroom. Exhibits are not engaging at all. Kids (8 and 13) got bored quickly. Price is crazy. Thanks, Telus Spark exhibit "designers", for helping turn kids off STEM. Advice to parents looking for a seriously good experience with their kids: go to Vancouver or Edmonton instead!!!
Cool things to do, good special events. Only good to visit during adult night
Very small! From the outside the structure looks massive, however inside they only had 2 exhibits. Both of which were filled with gimmicky stations that really didn't demonstrate any interesting scientific or engineering principles or ideas.
If you've ever been to the Science Centre in Regina, SK, it blows this place out of the water! Which surprised me.
To summarize this place, its is very small, VERY EXPENSIVE, and doesn't offer much at all. As an engineer I was dissapointed, and as a kid at heart it was sad...
Great for kids spent 4 hours there and didn't see half of it
Great place for the whole family. Over priced parking.
I wouldn't say I hated the place, but I was highly disappointed with what was available for my 4 year old boy. My son isn't interested in the flesh/bones/muscles of a human or animal. He could only play outside which you can do at any park. Yes I understand that some parts had to be temporarily closed due to covid, just wish it was more detailed on the website that it's not suitable for 5 years and under. We did go to the theatre and watch a film on bears which was amazing, but my 4 year old does not have a great attention span, and I'm sure other 4 year olds do not either. Shame as I'd heard such great reviews pre covid.
If you have a toddler who is say 3 yrs or younger and wondering if this place has a thing for your child then YES they do!!! I called the center to ask if my 2yo could do anything there and she said omg there is soooo much they can do! So dont fr and go there! Take your littles and have fun! If you go in the summer it's great cos they have the outdoor adventure park which is just so much fun for the kids! We r excited to go our very first monster mash there!!
Always a great time there and a nice place to show family when they are visiting!
Fun for kids, hard to keep them away from the water activities
Spark never fails to impress me with the variety of activities for kids and adults! We just spent a day and a half of our vacation there and could have happily spent more time too! Some of our favourite things were the giant outdoor slide, the open play section, and the live science experiments!
Went here for our work Christmas party. A lot of the exhibits were closed off.
Dart and the PALS program has a great time visiting all the people here!
The doom is the coolest thing ever! Love the space presentation.
A bit pricey, but truly amazing and so worth it for the kids!
Most of the things were broken and for a place of such greatness new excibits should not be broken and all buttons should work for the price I would rather go to the zoo it's next door not worth 100$ for 1hr of not much fun but each to there own
First time at Telus Spark exceeded our expectations.
The main exhibit, Animals Inside Out, includes cross-sectional photos, skeletons, and countless other models showing the different anatomical structures of animals and also humans. Even as a former anatomy student, I was amazed seeing the real structures of so many animals up close.
On top of the main exhibit, there s a dome theatre, and other interactive exhibits to explore and see the science in action. Being Human had different experiments to try and was super fun.
The employees were all very friendly and knowledgeable as well.
Fun place to explore. Amazing high-def dome for movies and sky-shows.
Thursday nights are Adults only - great date night.
nice place to take the family. the food is decently priced as well.
Loved the science center before it moved to this one. Not overly alot to do. Group of three kids got bored after an hour. Not worth the price. I will find something else to do with my money for the kids next time.
Very busy very expensive especially if you want to see the special exhibit. Go if special exhibit interests you. Otherwise the zoo and Heritage Park are a better option
Not up to mark my 7 year old enjoyed but olde 11 and 12 disappointed
Excellet place for kids of all ages. Very educational at the same time.
We make a point to go once a month and there is always something new to explore with my preschooler.
It's over rated, expensive. The best experience is the dome.
Super fun for the kids! Our girls loved taking old electronics apart!
It's always neat to drink out of a toilet fountain, and the bed of nails feels gooooood!
There are so many ways that Telus Spark is a huge family hit. Everything from their exhibits, to the cafeteria, atrium, dome shows and birthday parties. The visibility of staff that interact with the children at the exhibits is a wonderful way of making science and technology accessible and fun.
A good way to spend an afternoon and use your imagination! Good fun for the entire family!
Went with my friend and her 3-year old daughter. I always have a great time there ad it's for big kids too
My kids always have the best time here! The creative kid's museum is a ton of fun for big and little kids and the outdoor park is like nothing else in Calgary. The four main exhibits are always interesting and well kept. I recommend staying to see at least one science show and a dome theatre movie!
Nearly the entire centre is hands-on. I really appreciated that the guide reviewed the guidelines for being in an exhibit that could not be photographed - with plenty of time before our group entered the exhibit.
Pretty fun place. Caught it furring a exhibit change so areas were shut down.
Great place for kids even adults. Our passes get us into other sci centers 4 free. Huge bonus.
Honestly, looks like a cool facility but there's pretty much nothing going on. Would never waste the money to go again!
Had a great time with my girlfriend and everything we saw was fun. Our only disappointing issue was no signs to tell pedestrians how to access Telus Spark from bike path
It is good to bring your young kids to, but definitely need to be updated with more science related exhibits. Needs more chemistry, automation, computer science, mechanics sections.
I attended adult night urban survival. There were about 2 booths to talk to that were (kind of) interesting, like lighting a cotton ball on fire with a fire starter. I'd recommend getting your own cotton and flint for 2 dollars and trying yourself. I figured there would be a professional to guide or speak about urban survival in interesting booths. Instead we learned from the booths about hypothetical 3D printed shoes and food waste recycling. Cool, but out of place. I felt they struggled to relate to how it was urban survival. Lol I feel lied to about what this was. I got excited about a bow and arrow making workshop. It wasn't a workshop, it was a bunch of 1-2 foot sticks with yarn, figure it out yourself. Nothing was authentic and felt like it was put together in a lazy manor.
The rest was standard science centre. I might bring a child back to experience that but this was lame for a adult person and your 100 dollars you're sure to spend could be utilized better.
Very fun, informative, and engaging! Reasonably priced and fun for all ages. Also features various exhibits making repeat visits even better.
Had such hopes as the building shows such promise. I grew up going to museums and science centres and never have I been so underwhelmed. High admission rates to get in the door and then you have to pay extra for all of the shows. While we did see sufficient staff- they were not friendly or interactive at all unless they were taking your money. It seemed like 2/3 of the building is dedicated to theatre or exhibits you couldn't access. A good portion of displays weren't properly stocked or even working. The outdoor area was closed off that day for a private event. There was limited explanations to the displays and the science behind them. Quite frankly it was a waste of time, money and effort. I will not be bringing my family back.
This place just isn't what it used to be at the old location. My kids were bored in less than an hour, which is a bad deal considering the price of admission. Everything seems dumbed down and safety-ed up (yes I'm totally making up words) with emphasis on flashy design rather than entertainment. Not impressed, sadly.
Kids loved it. Great mix of items for all ages. Impressive layout. Slide was great fun.
Great for the kids! Lots to see and do. A bit on the expensive side but easily an all day trip for the kiddos.
We have been coming here as a family since it opened and our kids have always enjoyed it very much. There are activities inside and out including a great playground and slide. Now the imax movies are included in the entry it is an even better option.
What an awesome adventure for kids and people of all ages. There many different activities inside and out to keep you busy for hours. The kids have loads of fun at the same time learning.
Interactive science exhibits for all ages and a dome theater that runs very immersive nature documentaries.
Awsome we all loved it grade 1/2went on a field trip at dhs
Great place to take the grandchildren! They had a lot of fun. We will for sure be back!
Whale exhibit wasn t as grand as it was advertised.
Such a fun place, who knew you could have this much fun and learn something at the same time. Every kid should go at least once. Hell... every adult should go too. I'm definitely coming back!
I have tried twice to go and both times unable to park.
Innovative, clean and friendly staff. Telus Science centre offers a bit of everything for all ages. 1 night each month Telus offers adult night with mature entertainment, various speakers and a chance to be a kid for a few hours.
Upside: Live shows, cool experiments, lots of hands on activities. The best being outdoors park with Calgary's largest slide (Wear comfy clothes).
Downside: Dome Theatre may cause motion sickness.
Not that many exhibits that are engaging. Was done going though it within 45mins.
Small, not much to do, and is very expensive to get in!
