Lovin the special events here in the evenings!! Looking forward to more.
Place is really fun, extremely fascinating and some really cool hands-on activities.
Great place. Staff and facilities spot on. Wish the planetarium show wasnt blurry. If going to show anything not HD or better do let folks know as they book. Shouldn't cost the same.
This is a very weak effort for a science center. Go next door to the zoo instead; much more fun.
It's a got a beautiful planetarium that everyone need to see
Lots of fun stuff to look at for kids of all ages!!
fun for adults and kids alike! I was with a toddler, a 5 year old and an 8 year old and I can't say if they enjoyed it more or I did!
Great fun for the whole family.
Great hands on experience in a museum. Just bring your own food because the cafeteria style snack bar isn't very good.
Excellent kids science museum. Lots of interactive exhibits plus great indoor and outdoor play areas. It can be a bit hectic with school groups and summer camps.
Ugh... I want it to be better... Staff are great ... But in general it's boring... My 8 year old had a little fun... Not worth the cost... And pay for parking? Nope.
Very fun place to adults and kids !! Good place to spend the day
Children love this place. It s heartening to see parents showing, educating their children with the great displays and experiments.
Love telus. We have a membership and go all the time. I would like to see some rotation in the galleries :)
Great place to drop in when plans change last minute and you need a sure-fire activity for the kids.
Very fun, busy, great place to learn about cool stuff.
A great place for kids and adults to have fun and learn.
Key things many people don't know or didn't pay attention to:
- A membership is more cost effective since it is $210 for a family of 4 as compared to the single entry cost.
- With the Telus sparks membership (the basic green membership) you get free access to 200+ science centers/exhibitions around the World. We have used it in Florida, Seattle, Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, etc. Before any trip, check the list and see what you can access in that city. The list is given too you when you first sign up for membership.
- When you renew you membership before the expiry date, you automatically get 2 months extra every year. That means you can get a free year every six years.
Great centre, very hands-on. Perfect for younger kids (teenagers would probably be too cool), and as a Dad I did as much as the kids. The outside play area was particularly exciting for my 5-year old (a very tall slide that made him feel incredibly brave, and mom still felt he was safe).
It's a fun place to spend a day with the family. Good for all ages.
A bit expensive compared to the zoo. It's pretty good as a time waster if you've got those little kids MN
Do not host an event here, the security and staff single handedly ruined our night. I understand the staff looking out for the safety of guests which is different from power tripping. You ruined an event for my family. We were told to stay in the car but the cars in front were fine. I m not saying we should be allowed to roam but sitting next to our car in n the same car parking space , and which is a whole spot away from every car in each way should be allowed.
I would not go to an event here again. We will not be back to this event venue .
Always a good time for the kids. 5-6 years of membership holding at this place and no regrets. New exhibits come and go and learn something new every time I go with the kids. The giant screen movies are awesome. Spark and the Zoo should team up for a joint membership pass it would make so much sense..
This place is incredible. It is the best Science and Tech Museum I have visited. There are so many amazing hands on exhibits for people of all ages. The shows and the labs are captivating. The artwork also caught my eye. It's definitely a place you want to plan on spending an entire day at. We took a break and ate in the dining area. We had not packed food and figured the food there would be convenient and okat, but it was really, really good. I liked the variety and healthy choices.
Super cool museum for kids of all ages. Really tasty food in the cafe.
Awesome for parents with small kids, your kids can learn a lot and do many science activities!
Really expensive for what was there, I will have to wait till my 3 year old is a little older.
They have a wide variety of programs and creative activities for the kids and even adults every time we've been lucky enough to go.
This science centre is excellent, great for people of any age. Tickets are not cheap but thankfully we had a 6 family pass for us. Very interactive and full of compelling info!! Let's put it this way, our kids didn't want to leave. We'll be coming back again for sure, there's still so much more to see & learn about there!!!
Everything is/feels new. Staff are friendly, the food in the cafeteria is AMAZING, and there are ample things to learn for children of all ages.
My little one (under 2) had a great time with the activity stations. I feel that a membership, the science center overall is a better value than many of these play areas.
Completely unsatisfied with this place. We travelled five hours to come and see this place thinking it would be a great family experience. Well at least half of the items either didn't work at all or properly. One of the live demonstrations broke down in the middle of it so we couldn't see it all. Upstairs they were doing some crafts with painting but they wouldn't allow the kids to choose their design. So all we got was a fish. When we complained about the amount of items broke down we were told that it wasn't the staffs problem and that it takes months to repair items. Well it will be years before we return.
I went to the body worlds exhibit when it was in town. I loved it. I also really enjoyed the pre show in the theatre: with the giant screen.
Amazing science. Family fun. Knowledge and fun. encouraging for both adults and kids. However, couple instruments are impaired due to excessive usage and lack of maintenance. Wish there are more guided tour for couple important things
I found the signage within Spark just terrible. The restaurant food was so dry, I sent it back for a refund. We had passes for entry and was told they had expired. The date on the passes was June 30/19. Really quite disappointed in the facility and attraction.
Kids loved this place but the event I went to was super busy line ups like Disney land
My daughter celebrated her birthday here and it was fantastic. However, I wouldn t recommend the food.
Way too much empty space. Focused too much on the exterior. Half the exhibits are broken. AND NO ADVERTISED HOVERCRAFTS!
So much money spent for something so disappointing. We used to have memberships but found the visits just the same experience over and over again.
There hasn't been a time when we've visited since the grand opening where we haven't found many of the displays out of order or not working properly.
The cafeteria still spews out the same fast food greasiness that you would never expect to find in a $40 million dollar project with LEED certification.
C'mon folks! We could have done so much better. Even the old science centre in Edmonton offers more.
A great way to spend a day with an energetic and curious toddler. It was a warm day when we visited, so the outdoor park was open as well. My grandson had a blast stomping through the mud puddles, playing on the swings, and running back up the hill to slip down the slide again and again.
His favourite indoor part was playing in the water area. The kid was soaked by the time we left, but that's not my worry!
We packed our own lunch, the cafeteria has typical fare. They do offer veggie sticks and fresh fruit cups to. They were quite tasty, but a little pricey.
We didn't see the whole place, as we let my grandson take charge that day and we followed where he wanted to go. More to discover next time!
We got in using our membership from another museum. Parking was $10 but got $5 off at the cafe or gift shop. Very busy on a Saturday afternoon. Kids area was great. The infant area was a hit and the pool noodle forest was loved. Wish it had been warmer to go outside. Stools in the bathrooms for the sinks.
We went there with our boy's (4 and 8) for 3 hour's and barely skimmed the surface, of thing's to see and do! There are so many interactive activities, for all ages. Very bright and spacious inside, clean and calm atmosphere. The staff was all very nice too! I do suggest buying a pass if you plan on doing multiple visits as admission is costly and parking is $10 on top. If you present your parking receipt at the front counter inside, you will get $5 back! Also, they do have a cafeteria but you can also bring your own food and eat it there. :) They have lockers as well and free coat racks, if you don't want to carry your coat everywhere.
Way too expensive for the amount of interactive things that you can enjoy as an adult. The "science" themes that they have is not anything different than what you learn in elementary school
Foodwise it's horrible. Incredibly expensive for little disgusting dishes plus the chef is really rude.
I rather pay the same amount of money in the zoo where you can walk around and have fun all day instead than half an hour in this place.
Don't waste your time and money in this place. I've been into many science centers where it's actually fun and you learn a lot of new stuff. Even the museum in downtown is better than this scam.
Don't be fooled by all the people on here who obviously didn't take the time to go over the exhbits. If you are expecting to stand around and be entertained this is not for you. Enter with an open mind and spend some time with the exhibits it is worth it.
It was a great experience, the lower floor are was fun and the exhibit was way cool. I was with my little cousin and he had a blast
Great fun for the family n' friends. Always something new to see.
The star trek exhibit was super fun. I can't wait to go back.
My kids love this place.
Mini-maker faires are easily the best event of the year and are an absolute chaotic event of creativity and fun
Lots of fun and lots to learn but the price is high.
A fun place to learn about science. There's a little something for both adults and children. There's even a fun little science experiment at the end of the afternoon. This is also a Telus Wi-fi hotspot.
Always a good time, easy to get to, kids love it and so do we!
As has been said before, probably good for kids, but boring and limited for adults.
There is a lot of open space, so there's potential to make it more interesting and educational for everyone.
A cool place, but it is very focused on young kids. My 2 year old nephew had a blast. There are much better science centers to see though, and I think Telus Spark could do much more with what they have.
Had a great time with the kids. Perfect indoor activities for cold winter days.
My little girl went with her class and loved it. She loved doing the dancing and learning some math/patterns. Will be back with her cause she really wants to go again.
As a family we love this interactive museum, unfortunately right now due
Covid is partially open. Be aware that you need to purchase a timed-ticket, mask are required to be indoors and bring water (no water fountain available, but you can buy a bottle of water at the eatery if you didn't bring any). This is a good time to enjoy the Body World's exhibition because is not busy as it used to be.
Total nonsense. $75 for us to take our son there. The circus stands did little to entertain the kids, and the rest of the facility is hardly enough for a day or even just half. Not to mention the city gets you $10 for the priviledge of parking there. Waste of time and money.
Went for adult nigh, was pretty good. From what I remember, science world in Vancouver was much better. The dome show was disappointing, as the image flickered and lagged, and the actual visuals looks much worse than in the promotional images. Good place for kids, but other than that I wouldn't head back.
Kids loved it. Very interactive, but many of the exhibits were too difficult for my 3 year old to activate.
If you love to know how things work, this is a great place to go. Machines, sounds, lighting, craters, echo, electricity mechanisms etc. A great place for young minds!
This place is awesome. It s bigger than other science parks in Canada. There are lots of events going on every month. They have really cool activities for kids every hour in the main lobby. The entry fee is a bit expensive, but a place to visit at least once if you have kids. There is no free parking at this place.
Neat but generally for young kids, not tens ore older...
Lots of adults do not like it. Especially those who loved the old Science Center (downtown Calgary).Other people find it expensive. I have season passes (me and a guest) to the science, zoo and heritage park in Calgary. For the year, if I go to one location a week it costs me $11 for 2 people including parking. About the same as two coffees. It's cheaper than going to the movies.
The reasoning behind 5 stars:
- It's amazing as a space for outdoor and indoor activities
- They have cool workshops for ages 5 & up where kids can use real tools and learn real skills (soldering, silk screening)
- As an early childhood educator it ticks any and every box for early development
- The newly renovated cafe is amazing, great food for the price, plus healthy
- The expirments are fun, informative, and cool
- They offer adults only nights once a month
- They have a huge amount of books with amazing ideas - so adults if you're bored, put down the phone and read!!!!
- Most adults also totally miss the creative kids museum. If you think Spark is not good for younger kids you have not been to the Creative Kids Museum
- The staff and volunteers are incredible
I could go on and on. I as an adult love the space, plus you can do the activities if you want to. You just have to ask and have a willingness to play.
So much to see and learn. So many hands-on exhibits. A great place for science-oriented or -interested kids of all ages.
Sadly I agree with most of the negative comments here. It would seem the building is where all the development money went. Exhibits are mildly entertaining, there is no warmth or intrigue inside, and it lacks holding my attention I can only imagine a kid. The most popular place is the kids playground which you can find in almost any mall for free.
Its expensive for admission and in my opinion, poorly managed. Exhibits they do have were broken and not functioning and the staff seemed poorly trained. They boast 380,000 guests per year but what are the guests looking at?
It unfortunate this is the Science Center that represents Calgary. Time for a top level management overhaul and get the place back on track.
I was hesitant getting a membership as my kids are 1 and 3 years old, but I m so glad I did. We have a blast here, from the creative kids museum, to everything outdoors and even upstairs there is lots to see and do for that age group. Plus the food at the cafeteria is delicious. Lots of vegetarian options.
Lots of fun for kids (and adults) of all ages! Quite expensive so took off one star for that, but a great overall experience.
I love the Telus Spark Science Centre! I have been here lots and every time I came was enjoyable. There are four exhibits and all of them have lots of cool stuff to see. Outside, there is a really cool playground. It doesn t matter how old you are, the playground is enjoyable for everyone! The dome theatre is also really cool, I recommend seeing a show there.
Our visit exceeded my expectations! All the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and extremely friendly. They explained the exhibits in a way that all levels could understand. We had individuals in our group that face many challenges. The staff were beyond accommodating to meet some challenging and specific needs. To all the staff, thank you so much! To their supervisor, please have a moment of recognition for your superior staff members!
The park is big and you can find many interesting science, good for kids.
Its open now even the kitchen... loved the crispy chicken and lovely food area staff
Went to the Star Trek event. Was entertaining and something to do on a rainy day. Was expensive and the rest of the exhibits where for children. So for young adults I wouldn't recommend going without some children. The main exhibit though was much more age appropriate for the group I went with.
The body world exhibit was amazing but the rest of the science center hasn't changed much since it has opened. A lot of interactive exhibits either worn out or out of order which is a little disappointing.
love this place! So many exhibits, so much to see and do. Staff are phenomenal in these trying times. The staff will spend the time to help ypu navigate all there is to see. I do find it quite expensive, so its a once every few years treat for grandchildrem. Definitely worth a must see.
Nice place to spend the day reasonably priced with a nice cafe to a quick meal! The 360 theater was very cool
Prices are a bit high but for the experience you get it balances out, staff are attentive and there are many exhibits with lots to experience. The food court is sort of sub par but as that isn t exactly the reason one would go there is forgivable however we did have to cut our visit short as a result of this.
Terrible. The old one was better
The only thing good about it is the movie theater
My kids enjoyed their time here. The displays were very interactive and fun. I was a bit disappointed that the Feature Gallery was closed for a separate function. But at least there were lots of fun things to do for the kids.
All I have to say is this place is a total ripoff. Admission should be 1/3 what they charge. If you don't believe me, go visit it once. Only $20 per an adult. Btw that $20 doesn't get you into the theatre as there is a charge for that and if you drive you need to pay for parking.
Great for kids and enjoyed the special feature movies.
They should really let people know that this place is designed for very small kids like 5-6 years old and under
