When you park don t forget to pay for the parking. The machine is very slow printing out the receipt. We had great time walking around the lake. It s straight forward walk, path clearly recognizable, blue stickers on trees to guide you. There were people with kids, dogs, babies and we all wanted to enjoy the nature. Everyone was wearing masks for protection, so it felt safe. There were little flies that were flying around, but otherwise we and the cats had a great time:-)

Outstanding and beautiful location for both easy and more challenging hikes. Recommend the twin lakes trail - low/medium difficulty for ~1.5 hours. Can easily fit in a number of other hikes into a day. The nature centre doesn't have a huge amount to buy though so suggest bringing own food supplies!
A perfect weekend spot with a little bit of everything for everyone. Simple to moderate hikes/ bird watching/ lake/ picnic area..a nice place to be at!
what a good place this place is so good it has a lake fun stuff it is fun it has fun it is in teatown where the town is tea it is lake it has the waters and you can swim in it it has resvations for fun times it is town of tea you drink the tea
Teatown Lake Reservation is beautiful. It only costs $5 to park there for the day and there are many trails you can try out. The blue trail or lakeside trail is only 1.5 miles and good for kids. Though a stroller would be hard to take around the entire trail since there are some bumpy spots. We saw baby ducks and a few herons on the lake, too!
JUST HAD MY SONS 4TH BIRTHDAY PARTY AT TEATOWN....KIDS LEARNED ABOUT ALL DIFFERENT ANIMALS. TEATOWN ALSO HAS GREAT WALKING TRAILS... ALWAYS HAS BEEN A GREAT PLACE!
You might be tempted to think this is just a path around a beautiful Lake. I was! It wasn't until a friend told me that there was also animals and a sweet visiting center that I realized I'd only touched the surface of this place. I came back and learned they had multiple animals in the welcome center as well as a birds of prey exhibit. Owls, Red Tailed Halks, Eagle, a talking Crow and many others. There are multiple trails, not just the one around the Lake. And if you come during a weekday there's no charge for parking (otherwise it's $5). This place is beautiful and alive with nature. I made the mistake of wearing open toed sandles, next time I will wear real shoes! I also spotted a fairly large black snake, so if they make you nervous perhaps be mindful of wear you step. This place is amazing and I will be going back to see the birds and hike the trails.
Such a great time!! Beautiful place... serine and nature at it's best. On top of it it's only $5 for the parking for the day!!! Kids had a lovely time and us adults as well.
Easy hiking trails that are well maintained around a few small leak lakes. Nature center that has educational material about local plants and animals. Perfect place to bring the kids.
Very quiet, pretty place. There are lakes, wooden draw bridge, easy trails that are not paved. There are no parking area on one end. Do your research where to park before heading there.
Spring blooms seeking sky Grey trunks dominate green trees As Teatown Lake stirs
We were looking for somewhere close to take our kids hiking (4 & 6) and came across this place via google maps. The initial google maps search landed us at Wildflower Island, which lead us to Teatown Lake Reservation.
The staff at the Nature Center were very friendly and helpful. Pointed us towards the BLUE trail which skirted the lake. Very easy hike with the 2 kids where they could hop and jump along. Plenty of benches scattered along the way, bring a little snack and water if you plan to do the whole loop.
Our overall walking distance from parking lot back to parking lot was about 2.7 miles. We spent 2 hours and change with the hike, bathroom visits and a quick peak at the live animals in the center. There were additional trails that broke off from the one we were on, some that leads to neighboring lakes or parallels the trail we were on.
Some other notes, apparently the beavers were active; along the trail there were many pencil point tree trunks for the kids to point out. They have reptiles and amphibians at the Nature Center, and the restrooms were very clean. Parking for non-members is $5 that you can pay at a kiosk with cash or credit card. First week of spring and seems like some mosquitos were out at certain areas around the lake, bring spray.
You have to pay for parking? We tried to park at the lower lake level (no cost) but had an awful lady park her big suv in two parking areas. Disgusting and unkind. Park is so so. Flat. There are better in the Croton area.
This review is for the less-traveled Teatown 3 lakes loop trail. I highly recommend it for scenic and varied terrain and for folks (like me) who enjoy a long hike minus the fear of steep, scrambling challenges. There are hills but the uphills are short. Takes about 2-1/2 hours. Note: Teatown historic buildings are closed but an immaculate port-o-potty is open at the larger main parking lot. The parking fee for non-residents is $5.
Wonderful nature for all to explore. Plenty of hiking trails, year round programs for kids and families, some wildlife in refuge. Can't steer wrong here. Plan at least a few hrs visiting. Parking can be challenging on weekends and holiday season.
This is a great place to due some light hiking. It has a few trails that wind around the three lakes found here that provide hikers with serene views of the park's plant and wildlife.
Great for family hikes and snow shoeing. A variety of terrain and difficulty. Walk around the lake for an easy, flat hike or check out one of the many other trials if you are up for something a little more challenging.
Such a cute place. My eyes and ears were totally stimulated with beautiful nature. Hike was easy. You have to pay for parking. Bathrooms currently closed due to pandemic.
Teatown Lake Reservation is an amazingly peaceful, tranquil place to reconnect with nature all year long. The Hidden Valley trail is always a favorite, moving through a wide variety of terrain, with some optional slightly off trail bouldering for the adventurous. During the winter, go for a walk on the lake (but check that the ice is ready for it first). The nature center is great as well, housing some local animals both indoors and out, and providing information about the history of the area. This place would rate more than 6 stars if I could.
Very enjoyable nature center, hiked the Lakeside loop (seemed longer than the posted 1.5 miles, but I could be wrong) and enjoyed the exhibits in and around the main center!
A beautiful place! I have done the Three Lakes loop twice and enjoyed it every time. The first time I took my husband and the second time I brought my dad, who is a true nature enthusiast. He loved it!
I would recommend this area to anyone who would like a nature walk or even a easy hike. The terrain is varied - woods, hills, marsh, lakes, etc. I hope someday to be able to tour Wildflower Island.
Parking is $5 but I still feel like it's worth it.
Fantastic natural trails, dog friendly, never crowded although you may not be able to park in the main lot on weekends. A very low key, low tech place - great for clearing the mind
