Grey trunks dominate green trees
As Teatown Lake stirs

We were looking for somewhere close to take our kids hiking (4 & 6) and came across this place via google maps. The initial google maps search landed us at Wildflower Island, which lead us to Teatown Lake Reservation.

The staff at the Nature Center were very friendly and helpful. Pointed us towards the BLUE trail which skirted the lake. Very easy hike with the 2 kids where they could hop and jump along. Plenty of benches scattered along the way, bring a little snack and water if you plan to do the whole loop.

Our overall walking distance from parking lot back to parking lot was about 2.7 miles. We spent 2 hours and change with the hike, bathroom visits and a quick peak at the live animals in the center. There were additional trails that broke off from the one we were on, some that leads to neighboring lakes or parallels the trail we were on.

Some other notes, apparently the beavers were active; along the trail there were many pencil point tree trunks for the kids to point out. They have reptiles and amphibians at the Nature Center, and the restrooms were very clean. Parking for non-members is $5 that you can pay at a kiosk with cash or credit card. First week of spring and seems like some mosquitos were out at certain areas around the lake, bring spray.
