Really expensive but the image quality is amazing. Popcorn is average and you need to put your own butter, which means only the top half gets buttered. Seats are average comfort, a bit old. Staff is a bit unhelpful when it comes to finding your seat. We actually had to move twice and rows are very narrow so it s hard to get in and out. Bathrooms are very far, so if you have to use in the middle of the movie get ready to miss a lot. Parking is very $$$ and hard to find. Hollywood is also a hassle to walk through. So many people, people haggling you. I hate anytime I have to walk through Hollywood. Otherwise close to metro. Once in a lifetime experience ... and really would only do it once otherwise you might go bankrupt.
Classic smoke and mirrors. If you are from out of town don t be fooled. You are not getting the experience of watching a movie in the iconic Chinese Theater. You are directed to the take an escalator 3 floors up to a normal average movie theater that has the name. Once inside the theater you are welcomed with nasty stained fabric seats that look like they have never been cleaned. The chairs are a slight step above economy seating on an airplane, so comfort is basically non-existent. Does anyone take pride in their brand anymore. What happened to companies walking in excellence? What happened to a culture that fosters an atmosphere that inspires people to dream and be the best they can be?
Because they have the state of the art high definition digital projectors, mx 4d seats, VIP lounge, clean theaters, and great managers and staff . I've been coming here since 1978 and it is world famous with a lot of great history in it. I know because I lived it (supervisor 2001) and my experiences with my friends and family are awesome every time I come back . Like a VIP babe !!!
Nice place to browse. Fine shops and eateries .escalator take you up and down levels. Well laid out
It's one of those places where you have to check out just once to admire and take in the scenes, environment and the people. I really like the fact that it is on the edge of the sidewalk. There is a open space before the entrance and on the floor leading to the door is imprints of great actors/actresses and movie icons. There are vendors at the sidewalk and costumes people wandering around.
The movie was amazing spent time with love of my life happy birthday!
The architecture of this place is amazing. The tour is so worth it.
This place is okay if you bought a go City card. It's nothing too exciting in comparison to some of the other activities you can do in the area. Although you definitely have to stop here at least once in your lifetime to say you did. It's fun holding up your hand or foot to one of the movie stars. It's amazing how small some of the male actors actually might be by looking at the size with their hands or feet. This place is a stop for a lot of the tour buses, therefore if you're waiting for a half hour then check out the front of the theater as it's free. The cost to get in if you don't have the go City card is not too bad. There are a lot of good stores in this area that sell items for $5 each. So it's a great place to get some souvenirs. There are a lot of cops that Patrol the area so far all I felt safe taking my family there. I've been back many times and we'll still go back in the future to the area. There is a pizza place across the street that's pretty good and I suggest I cannot remember the name of it.
Nothing exciting at all..... average quality screen and projections of image , speakers way too loud, quite tight and uncomfortable.
I was very disappointed in this old outdated theatre.
VISITED the theartre and had a tour of the theartre. Wonderful building inside really informative tour. Peter the guide was great. Loved wandering outside and finding the hand and foot prints. Had great fun measuring our feet again at the stars feet.
Great experience we really enjoyed seeing the celebrities stars and handprints !!!
A Hollywood icon. I hope to return someday when COVID-19 does not have it closed down.
It's a very cool place but to me it looks bigger own TV than it actually is
Amazing atmosphere exploring all the movie stars hand and shoe prints in the concrete. It was like stepping back in time.
Amazing area. Definitely give it a visit. Also pay attention to events that may be happening too! Popular tourist hot spot too!
A bit overrated and very crowded. I enjoyed seeing the attractions, but didn't care for the pushy vendors and random homeless people milling about.
The TCL Chinese Theatre was rich in history. Great to see, but it surrounded by sovereign shops and seedy homeless people. Found the area to be very disappointing. Very surprised the city isn't doing more to revitalize the area.
As usual, there are too many amazing thing to watch. Love it.
I had no idea of the history of the Chinese Theater when I got there I thought the only thing important were the stars on the ground when you arrive . The history behind the theater is really cool and I would always go back and watch the history movie anytime I am in Hollywood . If you find yourself at this location you desperately need to go inside and watch the history movie on how the Chinese Theater came about what it stands for and why it is still there . They even do screenings and they show movies at this location it is the only movie theater I think I have ever been to that sells alcohol . Amazing history at this place and I would recommend that you definitely take the tour and watch the movie Inside about the history of the theater it is very educational and if you're going to be in the area you might as well do it you won't regret it.
One of the nicely structured ancient Chinese art featuring actors and actresses hand and foot imprints.
Happening place with a great tour and location. Feel the Hollywood vibe while keeping some coin in your pockets with reasonable prices!
Went to catch a movie here hoping it would be in the main theatre. I was in theater one, but not the main theater. Just remember to book IMAX if you want the main theater. It was still a great experience. I ve lived in California for 40 years and never gone to see a movie here, so it was certainly time. I m sure I ll be back here for another. If you re visiting, may as well make a stop here for a film and stop by the stars outside after!
Tourist trap full of guys trying to con you into giving them a donation to buy their cd's...especially when they write your name on! I told them where to go... so can you!
This place is classic America. It is beyond cliche but it is a very very interesting place to go , you get to walk in the food steps of very famous America. Actresses and actors , the place it self looks very ordinary until you start looking closely. Then the penny drops how amazing this place is
This Chinese theater is on the Avenue of Stars in downtown Los Angeles. The architectural style is very unique and reflects Chinese cultural elements.

Full name
Los Angeles Chinese Theatre
Introduction
The Los Angeles Chinese Theatre was founded in 1927. The theatre is 27.4 meters high, and the bronze roof is raised by two coral red pillars. There are two giant stone lions waiting in front of the theater. Here are the premiere venues for many legendary films.
For 80 years, the filmmaker has been circulating such a saying: "To Los Angeles, if you don't go to a Chinese theater, it will be a great regret, as if you went to China but did not go to the Great Wall to see it. "Chinese theater has become the beginning of people's understanding of Hollywood movies.
The Chinese Theatre is also called the Grumman Chinese Theatre, because it was built by Sid Grumman, the "king of the theater". Grumman built a "million dollar" Egyptian theater in downtown Los Angeles before creating a Chinese theater. However, Grumman, who loves Chinese culture, always has a dream in mind: to build a theater full of Chinese atmosphere.
A tourist hot spot. The exterior is nice, we didn t go inside or to see any shows. If you see movie characters outside, don t be surprised. Spider-Man, Aqua-man and Thor hang out here sometimes.
A great historical artifact of the televised century, as well as a great entertainment center. The theatre itself is quite stunning both inside and out. The movie we saw was Star Wars the Last Jedi, which was also an awesome experience. I definitely recommend going if you get a chance to go to Hollywood. On your walk there you will see the Hollywood stars walk of Fame, and you will get a sense of the flashing bright lights and spectacular livelyhood.
Absolutely historic! Walking around it is like living all those movies you've seen that were shot here! Think: Rush Hour.
Not very far from Asian Art Museum. Good taste and reasonable price. Altogether good.
Wish I could have seen a movie here. Seems like a great movie going experience. Just being outside was cool though. Got a few pictures, found a few stars handprints I was looking for.
It seems a little chaotic outside with all the street characters. I was there at a quieter time and it was still quite busy with people. Another one of those places you have to at least stop by when you're in LA.
I've watched this place transform many many times, and honestly seeing the latest incarnation is the most disheartening. The crush of tourist, the gross display of commerce has ruined this fun place. Head east for a bit of how the street used to be, but the Highland area is just a big embrace of capitalism in the most vulgar display.
It was closed on 7/29/20, hope some day I'll be inside this Theatre.
So amazing to visit and see the stars hand prints! Take the tour it does not disappoint!
Great, big cinema in Hollywood! Nice to see big premiers
This is a Hollywood must-see as a tourist attraction. Super cool! It would be realy nice to see this place actually renovated though - very overdue. (This could be said of most Hollywood tourist spots really) Staff are nice, the facilities are dated but really cool to see still :)
Lovely location, lots to see - each time I've visited I've found something new. Very interesting blast from the past. If you're in the area, it's a worth while stop. Seems busy no matter the time of day you visit.
I would give it 5 stars if they continued to do the feet and hand prints for the all stars. It is an absolute dream come true to finally have gone here. Matching your hands with some famous actors is fun and informing. Beautiful peace of Americana!
Beautiful place. If you get a chance to go there it s better to try the tour which includes the movie about the theater salon and the funders and how the hand sign was born at the beginning. The tour is 18$ and you can buy the ticket right at front of the theater...
Hollywood, I'm in you! First stop: TCL Chinese Theater. I am a movie traveler and setjetter for years and even it's not a 'real' movie location it's still a good start for a location trip andsome history was written here.
I wanted to see the legendary theater for years, so this visiting the legendary theater was a CHECK on my bucket list.
The place wasn't as crowded as I expected but I would recommend to go there in the morning.
I've been to the replica at Disney World several times... had to take this opportunity to catch a movie at the real thing! Rise of Skywalker was amazing here! Such a charming place!
Great little theater. Went to see lion king and this place is beautiful inside. Feels like you took a step back in time. Not only that the staff is friendly and helpful
The Chinese theater area is full of shady people, many of them try to shove unwanted homemade music CDs in your face, lots of aggressive people trying to sell you stuff. I see a lot of parents with frightened children. A very crowded place, the entire area is packed with tourist and low class people who are there to harass the tourist. It's not all bad, there is a lot of excitement and interesting things going on, however it is a tourist trap that is showing serious signs of age and wear. With that being said, it's still a major American icon that you should see before you die. Just manage your expectations that most of Hollywood is a filthy illusion.
Pretty cool to see all the foot and hand prints of the stars...
The place is a classic, but it s really dated. Everything inside looks in need of a renovation and for such history, the memorabilia on display is very unimpressive.
The Imax screen is small in comparison to other places.
Service was amazing!
Beautiful place. The architecture is amazing. You must to take a picture of yourself in front of this building. This place is also the bus stop for the Hop on and Hop off Bus Line so you can take those buses from here and travel to almost any part of the Beautiful LA.
Went to see Glass. We were the only two people in the entire theater for the 10:20 showing. Nice but sort of weird. Clean theater and friendly staff. Tickets are $25 each so be prepared. Probably the place to go if you are into movies.
This iconic theater is not just for tourists. While it is a piece of Hollywood history and draws tourists, it also has really good theaters. On a whim, we recently decided to try the 4D experience. It was really enjoyable. Watching Jurassic World with the effects made it more suspenseful and exciting. It is well worth it for action movies and gets you into the movie. The theater itself maintains its historic charm, is clean, and an experience in itself. The prices are a bit high but as expected. Parking at Hollywood & Highland was easy and a very direct, short walk to the theater. And TCL validates parking making it $2 for up to four hours. Don't pass up this theater whether you are a tourist or a local.
Classic Hollywood icon. Lots of cinema history here and the handprints/footprints at the entrance are one of the best sights in Hollywood.
On of top attraction in LA downtown. Since it's a tourist spot it is crowed all the time. The architectural style is amazing & relates to Chinese culture with a long history
It is located near to walk of Fame
We can see the hand & foot prints of Hollywood Stars.
Great place to start the Hollywood tour! Strongly recommend to guided tour inside of the theater! It was very helpful for understanding the history of Hollywood!
Iconic. Nothing else will compare to Icons immortalized in cement.
It was awesome and I got to meet Orlando Bloom in person
Anthony Merchak Lebanese Talented filmmaker is a Winner of Best Cinematography- Short narrative Film for his short film my destiny, their call @ Golden state film festival 2020
Refused to speak to me in Cantonese. Subpar indian food.
This is one of the major tourist attractions of the town. Good place to visit wit family. The seats of the theater are comfortable and the sound quality is also nice. The courtyard is also nice for roaming around.
Enjoyed our time here. Loved seeing all the different famous people's stars, specially Michael Jacksons spot in front of the theater. Overall great experience.
The IMAX theater is gorgeous, full of history and quite comfortable. Easily worth the extra $.
Awesome theatre to watch a movie in! So much incredible history to soak in!
Everything I expected! Fun place. Get there in the morning, it's not at busy. And don't forget your camera! But prepared to walk. Parking is very difficult to find.
5 stars for history alone! Love this theater and love what they continue to do by premiering both large scale and small scale films. TLC is a staple in Hollywood and its always great to enjoy the atmosphere surrounding it, along with occasionally going to an event. #tlc #tlcchinesetheater #hollywood
I like this place, good to see so many people and star. Hollywood baby.....
A great day and was awesome seeing the messages all these stars left along with their foot and hand prints :)
Was very exciting to be here and to see a movie here was a great experience.
I like this theater more than the El Capitan. I think the seating is more roomy and has more leg room. It's a very steep theater so it's kinda cool.
It was the most enjoyable tourist attraction; mainly because of the Walk of Fame stars and the Chinese theater. There were many famous stars you could take pictures with. The trip was worth it
Greatest place to watch a movie! The best experience!
Best place to see IMAX blockbusters - laser projection is amazing!
It s very cool to see.
We went a few hours before Nicole Kidman was meant to have her movie premier there.
It s busy and we weren t allowed to stand around and look for long (I assume because of the premier).
However it s worth a look... there are 200 celebrity handprints, footprints and signatures in the Chinese Theatre forecourt on the ground it s cool!
Love the nostalgia of this theater, to walk where legends have is so awesome!!
Nice theater. Doesn't accompany as much as a usual theater. The sound is incredible, the screen resolution is great but the seats are so uncomfortable. Apart from that, it was a good experience.
Must see stop if you had never been there before. Important tip: DO NOT TAKE OR TOUCH ANYTHING HANDED TO YOU BY A STREET VENDOR!!! YOU TOUCH IT. YOU BOUGHT IT!! I watched a German tourist make that mistake! Don't do it! Saw the fattest Spiderman hawking photo ops. Hillarious! These movie characters DO NOT TAKE PICTURES FOR FREE! Don't do it!
Amazing theater...!
I honestly thought it was just for important red carpet events... so glad is not. The exterior/interior are incredible and the staff is wonderful. Just watched Endgame here and the IMAX screen is incredible. I'm definitely coming back.
Amazing place! The whole ambience around it is very electrifying and lively.
They charge you $5.00 to see autographs and foot/hand prints
You really don't need to go inside. Seeing the hands and foots outside is the only fun thing about this place.
Overrated, the whole area is way too touristic and I would avoid it
THE BEST!!
Thanks for the great time!!
